Vikes agree to trade 6th rounder in 12 and possibly 6th in 13 to Wash for Donovan McNabb. Deal contingent on McNabb agreeing to much less $$

Thoughts on this? McNabb to the Vikings for a 6th and a possible 6th in 2013.

I think McNabb could do well there and I hope he does. I've always rooted for Donovan.

I think Jay Glazer may have jumped the gun a bit. I think a deal is in place but it is not official just yet.

Its contingent on McNabb taking a HUGE pay cut...ball is in his court.

I assume he will. He's got to understand what he's really worth at this point which isn't much after last year and this is an opportunity to start for a team that has good pieces in place around him. He should jump all over it.

I'm happy for him to find a team that he can give a shot at the lombard trophy, or at least the Viks will treat him good.

Yep. He needs to come to terms that nobody really wants him. So he can choose to keep his dough in Washington and do nothing. Or go to Minny and have a chance to rejuvenate his career.

He should take the paycut and go.

I cannot see how he doesn't take this deal. I would think he wants out of Washington in the fastest way possible. And while I don't know if they're necessarily one veteran QB away from a Super Bowl if he can have a turnaround season like Favre did a couple of years back then they can most definitely compete.

I'm glad McNabb is out of that hole Washington and is on a team with weapons, but...the season is about 6 weeks away. That's not enough time to learn an offense and build chemistry with new teammates. If this deal was done much earlier (impossible due to the lockout), I'd actually consider the Vikings serious Super Bowl contenders. As it stands, I think he's going to surprise people, but they aren't going all the way obviously. I will be rooting for him to outperform Vick at least.

Hopefully he'll do well, so long as the Vikings plug some other holes in their offense, and McNabb's contract states that Brett Favre is to be put in a retirement home.
