Sounds like the Ravens and Yanda aren't too far off in discussion.

Damn. He turned down 6.5 million? He may be more expensive than we thought. Wonder how much of an impact this will have on the people we released.

Yeah La Canfora was on NFL Network just a few minutes ago talking about him. He thinks they're going to do what it takes to keep him and that the number Yanda is looking for might be 7.5 or 8.

I hope so. He's a monster at guard.

Maybe or maybe not. It is standard negotiation for the Ravens to shoot a little low then bend a little bit. I can see them giving 7 or 7.5 million. Either way, good sign for initial negotiations

The more money he demands the less likely I see the cut players (Heap & Mason to be specific) resigning. If he is really the best OL in the FA market where teams have to spend boat loads of money to meet their cap then the Ravens are going to go have to pay a hefty price and still be under the cap to sign their own and other FAs.

Yanda knows Tampa Bay will give him 9 million dollars easily just to fill up their cap salary. If Yanda thinks he can get that type of money in Baltimore, it's not worth it because we need that money to sign up Joe Flacco, Ray Rice, Ben Grubbs and Michael Oher in the coming years.

Man, I thought $6.5 million per year for a former pig farmer would be plenty... guess not.

pigs got bigger.

I wonder if we get Ngata's deal done, if we can apply the tag to Yanda instead.
Interesting... but I wonder how big that cap number would be considering the ridiculous money some of these guards are making.

We could probably release Birk and let Chester start at center with Jah Reid as backup.
Not happening.

I don't care how much money he wants! We need to resign this guy at all costs. Say what you will about Grubbs and Oher, but Yanda is the gear that makes the line go. Imagine how bad life would be if we los him. Chester one more year? Cousins at RT? Yanda just might be the most important player on our offense right now, imo.

I don't think that's possible

That's worse because Yanda will be paid $10 million dollars (see Logan Mankins) instead. That type of money goes to Franchise Left Tackles, not guards.

Yanda, do you want a RING in the next 2-3 years? Are you sensible or are you greedy?

Your right. I didn't think it would be that much. But it is like 10M. But if we need to keep him around, it might be an option.

I wonder how Ramon Harewood looks as a guard. The man is smart, big, and can dish out some hits. Make Ben Grubbs do all the pulling guard duty.

You can't fault a man for wanting a lot of money after playing at an elite level for the past few years

Why would you believe that the team would cut their technically ONLY starter at center for someone who was mediocre at guard?

The only thing worse than Chris Chester starting on the OL in 2010 is Chris Chester starting on the OL in 2011.

Nope, you can't. I agree. I still think he's a bit over-hyped. Grubbs is a better G. Yanda is a nice player,I just dont see the Ravens paying him 8mil+.

Do you honestly see the team even considering what you suggested?

I'd try to settle for 7.5 million and give 8 million if it's close between the Ravens and another team. Anymore than that though and I would be hesitant to commit that much money to an OG. I could understand if it was an LT but you can always find quality guards via FA or trade.

Some surprises keep coming: Cowboys informed former Pro Bowl right guard Leonard Davis they will be releasing him this week.
