Sidney Rice to Seattle

When did Sidney Rice become old and slow at 24 years old? And he is a highly talented receiver, especially for that deep threat. BUT he would cost a lot and I don't think we will offer as much as some teams will. We have some deep threats now. We need a pass rusher and an offensive line

Note: Please don't start threads on rumors unless they have a credible source. It gets my hopes up :(

Sidney Rice is not a burner. He just looks like that cuz he's really skinny.

we need to stop getting old slow recievers. we need young fast guys with good hands.

I think he is talking about Steve Smith here. (At least I hope so)

what does that even mean? Every wide receiver in the NFL is skinny...

Sidney rice the past two seasons have averaged over 15 or 16 yards per catch.

Larry Fitzgerald for his career averages about 13 yards per catch. I don't think its debatable that Larry Fitzgerald is a deep threat

Andre Johnson averages about 13 or 14 yards per catch over his career. And no one debates that AJ is a a deep threat.

NOTEEEEE: Sidney Rice is not as good as AJ or Fitzy. But Rice definitely has the moves to break a play deep. And he also can go over the middle and make ridiculous catches. Granted it was only one great year. But to say he doesn't have that deep threat ability is false.

Well, for a guy who is 6'4" and 202 lbs., running a 4.51 in the 40 isn't too shabby.

remember when writers and some of us fans were pissed when we played minnesota and he ran all over us.He was a virtual nobody then and writers asked how he could have ran all over our defense, now he is coveted....no point to this really just wondering if any one else remembers!

I think that would be a terrible move. He's going to demand a huge contract, and I don't think we should take the chance on someone who struggles with injuries like he does. I want to see what we have with out youngsters, like Smith, Reed, and Doss first. I'd rather use the extra cap room to resign some of our own free agents to long term deals and add quality depth.

I agree with you for all the reasons except for the 'struggles with injuries' line. One injury doesn't automatically mean a player is injury prone. (unless he was injured earlier in his career which I am not aware of, and someone can gladly prove me wrong).

But I agree with you. We have talent at the WR position. I think we shouldn't sign Rice for the same reason we shouldn't sign Nnamdi. I would rather be very good at a lot of positions, over excellent at one position. And investing money to all positions over just one, is smart

We have two Smiths. We used to have 3 Lewises.
and we won a ring with all those Lewises! Maybe we need more Rice lol

Rice definitely has potential to be a top 3 WR in this league. Mark my words. If we can get him at a reasonable price, I'd say lets do it. Exactly what Flacco needs to make the jump to being elite, and exactly what Boldin needs to be that number 2 guy once again and make the underneath catches and screens like he did in AZ instead of being used as a number 1, which in my estimations and even though I love the guy for his talent, is not.

And who would be our number 2?? Torrey Smith? I thought all of you guys didn't want him in the draft, let alone at number 2.

I'm sure Santonio would like another shot at beating the Steelers after last year's AFCG, why not with the Ravens?

Unless it's for reasonable money, I highly doubt this happens. Boldin's already on a large enough contract and we need to spend on the O-line before we start splashing on another receiver.

You can be a number one receiver and do all of those things Boldin did back then in Arizona.

As for the number two, if we don't bring Mason back, I think we bring somebody else in, whether it be Sidney Rice or somebody else.

I like how he gets injured one year and he is considered injury prone. My opinion in this is, if it happens cool and if it doesn't than oh well. I don't really care on way or another.

I am not a huge fan of Sidney Rice. I'd like to add him but if it was at a reasonable price. However, with the FA chaos that is to be soon upon us and teams who have to spend money to meet the salary cap are going to throw a lot of money at him. Then do you overspend on a WR who's coming off hip surgery? He had one good season and played well in the games he was in last season, but that is not enough to hand out a huge contract IMO.

I'd honestly rather sign another pass rusher via FA since there is a lack of depth at that position behind Terrel Suggs unlike with the WR position.

I never read any Rumors of this before from Credible people such as John Clayton, Adam Schetfer, Chris Mortenson, Michael Smith or even Jay Glaser....
So this is a silly rumor..

I have seen S.Rice to Rams, Seahawks, Redskins, Vikings and Browns mainly

To all those dreaming of the Ravens making A splash in free agency... Wake up!!! It was stated that the Ravens are going to struggle just to sign their free agents... Simply put the Ravens are going to sign a few of the lesser desirables but don't count on them spending any serious money in free agency. On The NFL network Jason La Canfora stated it just wont happen. I guess the Ravens were worst than most thought with the salary cap!!!
They will make some moves but maybe not as big as most think it will be. Cap numbers can be deceiving sometimes because of the way that teams can structure deals to fit with the cap one year and have to deal with it the next year or years down the road. Either way with the room that they have made with all of the cuts and the obvious decision to not go after all of our UFA's we will fill some holes and hopefully improve the roster.

Floyd over Sidney? nah.... Floyd is not a big deep target that we need. Simply because he doesnt get that deep
I agree, if the ravens office is going to attempt a run at a WR. If we have a nice cap to play with don't waste time and money on someone like Floyd, he is another Mark Clayton, TJ Houshmandzadeh etc. just dead end signing. Go for someone like Rice who can get down the field at break away speeds and go up top for the ball.

Well encase you missed all the cuts, right now the only one proven WR we have is Boldin, and Boldin would be a #2 on most high offensive NFL teams.

On a well balanced team like the Ravens who usually keep their run/pass ratio close I feel like Anquan Boldin is the perfect #1 because you know the Ravens won't pass on every play.

I would not be opposed to bring back Derrick Mason--however it has to be understood that he is not guaranteed to be a starter and will have to share snaps with some of the other young WRs. He is a solid veteran presences and very reliable, but the Ravens drafted 2 WR this year and I'm sure plan to use them fully in the future.

I think we should bring back Mason for 1 year I know Mason will sign a cheap contract just to play. If we aren't WR shopping its best to sign him because our rookies could be busts and Boldin can't do it all, just saying.

Sidney Rice will probably be a Redskin. I feel like he might be in the Mcnabb deal. Pure speculation of course.

You can't trade an unsigned FA.

"The Seahawks are expected to set the value for free agent Sidney Rice after giving him a physical on Friday.
The chase for Rice appears to be a two-team race between Seattle and Minnesota. With Donovan McNabb now expected to land with the Vikings, they may want to up the ante. McNabb's best asset is throwing the deep ball and that is where Rice excels as well."

Bring back Derrick Mason, and stop all this looking for a new receiver talk. Derrick Mason may not have the numbers, but he constantly makes the tough grab. Derrick Mason is the best receiver on this team, if you look at the game like that. (Yes better than Anquan Boldin). Bring back the guy, that you can rely on on in any situation, to bail out the offense.

Thanks.

Mason isn't better than Boldin though.

I agree 100% He would be our larry fitzgerald even though hes not as good as him. And Boldin will still be #1 WR if we just have Torrey Smith and him.
