Any credible people tweeting this?

It's all speculation started by WNST and WBAL.

I have to admit, I like the idea of Joe throwing to Boldin, Rice, Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss, but some team(cough Redskins) will over pay for Sidney and Ozzie won't so probably we won't get him.

This is just a really bad rumor, I haven't seen a credible source about this. Besides the guy had one good season (when Favre was on fire) and a bum hip. I find it hard we'd be targeting him.

I'd be pissed. I'd love to have Rice, but if we're going to spend millions on fresh meat, it better be for OL or DL.

That's how I feel. There is enough question marks around Rice. If you are going to spend the money, spend it fixing the O-Line. Give Joe and Ray some time.

Everyone complains about the Ravens not having speed, why wouldn't those guys start the obvious rumor of the Ravens targeting Santonio Holmes instead.

Gaither and Yanda shouldn't be as expensive as you're making it out to be, so I'm not too concerned about retaining those guys. D-Line, DB, and WR have to be the next priority.

Rice is going to command a premium. I would rather have Malcom Floyd (6'5") to add some height to the WR corp and go up and get high balls in the endzone

I think with the Salary cap the way it is, Yanda and Gaither will be signed to much lower contracts than originally expected. Hopefully we can retain them. Yanda sounds like a top priority to the FO. I think Gaither is going to test FA and we'll see if he bounces back.

I'd rather take my chances with Hardy than bring in Floyd.

Floyd>Rice Smith>Floyd

Its not skill its about money.... Floyd @ 2 Mill a year is a much better deal then Sydney Rice @ $6mil a year or Steve Smith at 7

Rice is 6'4" I believe. He started to develop with Favre, and I think he's still growing as a player. With the release of Mason, signing him could be our best move to shore up the receiving corps. With the exception of Boldin, we have basically no experience at the WR position, which is a terrifying thought in today's league.

Sidney's too injury prone, and I want to give the rookies a chance to be successful before spending big $$$$ on an injury prone receiver

we need to stop getting old slow recievers. we need young fast guys with good hands.
[/quote]
When did Sidney Rice become old and slow at 24 years old? And he is a highly talented receiver, especially for that deep threat. BUT he would cost a lot and I don't think we will offer as much as some teams will. We have some deep threats now. We need a pass rusher and an offensive line

Note: Please don't start threads on rumors unless they have a credible source. It gets my hopes up :(

Rice is 24 and was Favre's best target during the 2009 season, during which he posted a very respectable 15.8 average yards per catch. He can definitely stretch the field. Coming off of an injury last season, he still averaged 16.5 yards per reception, although his average yards per game was down. That can be attributed to the poor stable of QBs on the Vikings, including Favre, last year.

Yeah and Rice was sick in the couple games he played last year. He had one year of injuries and people declare him old, slow, and injury prone.

Now I don't think we will get him, but I wouldn't at least mind offering him a price. I think we should offer Nnamdi a price too, but just a reasonable price. Why not if we have space. As long as we can fill some of our other needs first

Getting Rice would be straight up beast. We would give Flacco the elite young target to grow with if we did that, and have the option to be able to put Boldin in at slot/number 2 like the Cards did and excelled at. Rice has Fitz potential if he can stay healthy.

I don't know about Fitz potential, but he will be a very good WR in this league and would complement Boldin quite well.
