Sounds like Mason wants to come back and he seems ok with less pay. Any chance of resigning Heap? Does anyone know?

Edit: Sorry if this has already been discussed

Just an opinion, but I believe we resign Heap as well.

I suspect both Heap and Mason will be back for a lot less money.

Well I read interviews with Mason so I think he will be back. He seems positive about the Ravens still. Any interviews with Heap about being cut or anything?

I knew Mason wasn't going to be a starter this year but wasn't expecting him to be cut.

McGahee and Gregg being released I saw coming, but DEFINITELY not Heap. I hope we bring him back cheap though.

Either way u look at it this all needed to happen
mason-to slow and has seperation issues
gregg-not as good at the run as he used to be
willis-overpaid and money will be needed for ray rice
heap-still has a little in the tank but dickson brings speed to that position
we need to resign ngata and yanda let gaither go to many health issues.let leron walk landry walk get a traditional fullback get a rt or lt and last but not least bring in a passrusher a kiwinuka type guy

The lockout was like a dating a really hot chick that doesnt like you anymore and she just doesnt know how to break up with you. So instead of doing it 4 1/2 ago when she really wanted to break up with you, she is forced to do it now because she knows that its time to move on. Were just getting 4 1/2 months worth of news in 12 hours #ThanksLockoutForTheDelay

Absolute BS. Mason did not slow this team down, he helped carry it.

Cutting Mason is a big mistake. He's been the only reliable WR for years, and was playing great football last year.

Cutting Heap is a mistake. He's also been reliable and made some game-saving plays these last couple of years.

Cutting McGahee is unfortunate, as I recall him scoring quite a few TDs last year and making big plays in clutch moments. That said, we do have Ray Rice and it is expensive to pay both.

Gregg I can understand being injury-prone.

Are we really gambling on unproven rookies...especially for a season in which there has been essentially no preseason training? It just doesn't make sense.

EDIT: Hopefully the talk about resigning them at a cheaper price is true. Losing Heap and Mason is taking steps backward in my opinion.

Mason did slow us down last year and would slow us down this year. Boldins production will stay the same as last year and leave our WRs stuck in a whole where this years Torrey Smith will be last years Stallworth. Mason demands touches and we give them to him out of respect I assume. Last year Mason and Boldin did about the same and Housh and Stallworth did bad. If slow old mason wouldnt have been there demanding more catches Boldin wouldnt have sucked as bad as he did later that year, and Housh would have most likely had a good year, being a #2 wr. I love Derrick. And I think we will resign him, but I really wish we would be able to move on and move forward with an offense that has so much potential. If its Boldin plus Mason next year Torrey Smith ability to bring a "vertical speed threat" will be diminished because we dont know how to play 3 sets and Mason always wants to be on field. I will miss him if he goes, and i wish he could have had a ring, but its time. IMO

Mason is running out of gas in the tank. We all saw it last year. He was struggling to get separation outside of that comeback

Don't be too sure; he will get offers in free agency, probably more than we can pay. He'd really have to want to stay.

Of course I am not sure about anything, just a hunch...

Although, reports are he had too much pride and didnt immediately talk to coaches and the FO like Mason did. He's pretty upset, so you may be more accurate on this.

FYI reasons to think Kuhn could make it in baltimore -

1: Wants to be back home ( he is from Dover Pa)
2: does not like steelers management but is ok with being with some against the steelers

3 being back in the div would allow him a chance to make the steelers eat thier he cant hack it in our division

Heap would probably have no qualms about signing with the Cardinals in Arizona where he played college ball. Although they have no QB right now, that could change come tomorrow.

That's what I suspect as well. I wonder why they didn't try to trade him instead.

wasgetting these texts one after another at work and just kept getting angrier and angrier...punched a wall too lol.
After I calmed down I started to think we would resign Mason and Heap to smaller contracts.Willis I knew was on borrowed time.Still sucks though

I think you guys give Heap too much credit when it comes to offers from other teams.

Don't get me wrong, I love the dude, but he is and old TE who has huge injury issues, even if he did play most of the season last year.

Ahh yes, the nostalgic magiciancamille.... Didn't you say letting go T. Pryce was a bad move? : P

Is there a point in there somewhere? I don't see it, so I'm guessing you're just taking this opportunity to make a meaningless patronizing comment to someone who doesn't know you from Adam. Unimpressive.

Here's hoping we re-sign at least Mason, for the people who don't just drink kool-aid and conveniently forget past accomplishments.

Ed Dickson is the better receiving tight end, but I'm not sure how I feel about him blocking anyone. Hopefully we bring Heap back for more of a 1st and 2nd down role. Not to mention losing Mason and Heap would be Flacco losing probably 60% plus of his total completions since he got here. Thats a pretty big change.

Don't think were bringing Gregg back. Mason and Heap would be the likely ones.

Again, I would be very worried about this offense come week 1 without Heap. Not to mention week 4 against the Jets and week 9 against the Steelers as well.

Regardless of whether or not Heap and Mase come back (really hope we bring back Heap, some of you guys are underrating the guy), Doss, Smith and other younlings at WR will have to get into groove quickly imo.

Also, and maybe I'm alone here, but I kind of feel like we'd be giving Dickson the starting TE role too early. Anyone else agree? Perphaps he should build up skills (mainly blocking) before becoming a true worthy starter.

Just because someone disagrees with your condemnation of the releases doesn't mean that they're a kool-aid drinker. You have to understand, it's a big picture thing. We need to sign Ngata and Yanda, we need o-line help even with Yanda, we need to sign corners, and we were over the cap by a couple million to begin with. What would you have done?

Again, I am somewhat concerned about the loss of Heap's blocking abilities.

I believe we were under it by about 5 million, but I agree it needed to be done. Hopefully we can resign Mason (hopefully as a back up role as I want to see what the young guys can do) and Heap to smaller contracts. We need to get Yanda and Ngata locked up, those are our #1 priorities. Gaither should be after them imo. After that anything else would be a luxury imo.
