Leach is a FB, yards mean squat. You think perhaps the addition of a true blocking FB will assist in the transition to the Dickson/Pitta era?

Center does have me worried....cant put on a smile when talking about that.

Yards mean tons if Rice gets hurt-we needed those 900 yards that McClain gave us in 08-don't forget maybe the greatest running back of all time was a fullback. As far as the Dickson/Pitta era I'm as hopeful as you are-but it just feels like we are going in the wrong direction. I need a morale boost!

Im excited for the new faces that will be starting for us (Dickson, the Smiths, Leach, etc.) but im kind of upset that we wont be getting any of the guys back we cut, mainly Heap and Mason. Gregg was getting old and breaking down, and McGahee wasnt worth the money IMO. But Heap can still be a good TE as we saw last year, and even Mason at 37 years old can perform. I know its that time to get younger and i understand that. I just dont think we should throw some of these young guys "right into the fire" so to speak.

you wouldn't be a real fan of Ravens football if you dont miss a warrior like Mase and a stalwart like Heap.

But think about how prized guys like Doss, Torrey, Dickson and Pitta were. Even if HALF of them bust, we still break even, and are set for years to come.

And if that doesn't assure you, then just keep replaying Dickson catching a 50 yard bomb and then dragging Brian Dawkins another 8 yards downfield in your mind.

I am PUMPED to see the young bucks carry on what Mase and Heap started for us.

Well said, but I don't share your optimism regarding the new breed. I don't know, I just feel like our team has only gotten worse this offseason. It's a little frustrating because I felt like with a solidified offensive line we could have been the best team in the NFL last year. Now we are set back in several other positions as well, and our O-Line STILL isn't strong. Bah, the salary cap is a cruel mistress.

It is sad as a Ravens fan to see Heap and Mason go but it was time to allow dickson and pitta to step up into larger roles as Heaps career reaches its end in the next few years..also Mason although a Great receiver became too much of a focus for Flacco last yr and he tried many times to force it into him, with mason gone Boldin can get more attention and hopefully we can close this deal with Floyd because he will b a great down the field threat for us

TE position doesn't worry me b/c of pitta and dickson look pretty good, mase was reliable but we need speed at WR position, gregg was old and Cody will do good job to replace him, i'm worried about the O-line more than any other position if we cant protect flacco, it really doesn't matter who u got at wr or TE positions..

Everyone except for L McClain that got cut was questionable about there commitment.. Most of them just wanted more money then they were worth... I think overall Ozzie knows football and he called the shots...

Quite the opposite....McClain had the most jaded view of himself and his worth of all of them.

LeRon wanted what LeRon wanted and he got it. His attitude pretty much punched his ticket out of town. The Ravens organazation never has tolerated behavior that could disrupt the team and he knew this going in.

Oh but we paid 11 mil for Leach-3 caries 3 yards! What a deal > Now Mason is officially gone-what a class act he is with the nice things he had to say as he left-he deserved better that what he got here-basically just cut without even a thank you. But thats what we call playing like a Raven. Now we are pinning our hopes on Torrey Smith to be the #2-haha can't wait to see the game Thursday this should be quite entertaining-I'm sure every team in the NFL knows the formula to beat the Ravens by now-pressuring Flacco with our laughable O-line=Win. Even though it's pre season we are gonna get handled Eagles 24-Ravens 6 ooopps is this called being pathetic or being real?

You just don't get the basics of football, so starting a debate with you is pointless. Given the fact that you even mention a FULL BACK's rushing stats says enough!

Board - tread lightly with this dude!

What I would have done with McClain is essentially converted him to backup RB so that he could have stepped into Willis McGahee's old role. With Rice and McClain as a 1-2 punch, and Leach blocking for them, that would have been a great rushing attack.

Not that the team can't have a strong/efficient running game and continue to play good D, but the the passing game's improvement is most important. They don't have to pas-happy like the Colts, but the offense has to be able to march down the field in key situations. There were flashes of that last year, and we should see more of it this season.

To your other point, the team's YPC number was actually in the bottom third of the league.

this was a major problem last season.

Think thats being real my friend but i think we will score atleast one TD and 2 field goals. Ravens 13 Eagles 17.

Im still going to be optimistic til we play our last preseason game , Our Defense is going to be alot better this season.

I don't give pre-season any thought. They never show case their new players. They run practice drills throughout the game and it all means nothing. Some of the Ravens truly bad teams won in pre-season. We learn very little. Come game time winning will solve everything. With glaring problems last year the Ravens escaped criticism because they won. If we win Heap and Mason will just be a memory, sad as that is.

The Ravens and fans know what good teams look like Pitt--Colts--NE and we do not have that look, thus we do not beat the good teams. Scared of the Jets this year, they are really trying to get very good. WE are in hope and pray mode.

Yeah exactly. I think we are a better team now than what we were a year ago.
Yup. Torrey + Tandon > Mason + Housh. As long as the Oline can stay healthy our offense is going to be improved. The D is going to better too IMO, deeper secondary and an improved pass-rush with young talent ready to start along the Dline.
