Exactly. That's why I said I wouldn't mind if he stayed cut.

Boldin, Smith, Doss, and Reed is a good receiving core with plenty of potential.

2 of those guys are rookies at arguably the toughest position to transition from college into the NFL. The other young guy is coming off offseason surgery and struggled to pick up the offense last year.

I agree that they have plenty of potential, but potential won't get this team where we need to be. Those guys will have to step up and do it quickly.

Mason won't be cut imo. I just think because the NFL isn't officially open and teams can't negotiate until Friday(I think), restructures can't be announced. However I'll willing to bet that Mason has already been informed that he'll be apart of the Ravens in 2011, it'll just be at a cheaper price tag for the better of the team.

I doubt the Jets let Holmes go.
Idk, I don't think they'll get into a bidding war if it comes to that with him.

It's a shame Derrick won't be able to get a ring before he retires if indeed Ravens don't re-sign him.

This really makes me sad... I would really appreciate it if other teams would start cutting players, it would make me feel better knowing others are doing so as well.

Ngata is the priority but I wouldn't be surprised if Ozzie had a trick up his sleeve to sign Nnamdi. Maybe Steve Smith as well?

Can I have my PSL money back please?

Way to cut two fan favorites who are still producing at a top flight level.

Guess the Ravens think their window closed and are now trying to rebuild?

I wonder what Ray Lewis and Ed Reed think of this.

Seriously, even if these moves result in the Ravens landing Sidney Rice(which I highly doubt)... Mason and Heap were the wrong players to release. If the Ravens feel that badly about their receivers, then to me... it's just them admitting they went after the wrong guy LAST year in Boldin, instead of Marshall. Or perhaps it's the QB, but naw... that couldn't be.

Even if Mason stays, he'll be done after this year and we'll have depend on those three anyway.

Reed had no chance to even make a contribution on offense last year whether he picked up the offense or not. At least not on the same team with Boldin, Mase, TJ, and Stallworth.

If we could get Roman Harper id be giddy, he would fit in our defense well, because of his ability to blitz. Plus hes a Bama boy, and you know Ozzie ( and myself) Roll Tides all day everyday.

Well, Oz did say that he wants to clear cap space to dip into the FA pool as well as resign a few of our own guys.

Maybe they wouldn't. Their alternatives aren't going to be much cheaper, or better value though.

Rice and Flacco are coming up for extensions as well. We can't forget that. But then again when we win the superbowl this year I could see Ray Ray going out on top like Elway. Money saved there although I want him to play forever!

Don't joke like that! Ray Lewis & the word Cut just doesn't belong in the same sentence.
So when I say that Ray Lewis is a cut above the rest, should I censor myself? lol jp

Now the speculation is starting the Ravens could trade for steve smith.
Despite drafting Torrey and Tandon? I doubt it. I'm starting to calm down with the moves they are making but honestly it's time to groom our own home grown receivers. Let's see what Torrey and Tandon can do.

I would bet that Ozzie knows it will take a bunch of money being freed to pay Ngata and Yanda long term. Plus if they want to keep Gaither, this could help retain him as well.

The only move I see happening in Free Agency with the cap space the FO just freed up, is Aso, everyone else will be our own Free Agents.

Ok but it's a difference between a 2nd year WR and a rookie WR. You are talking about relying on 2 rookie WRs. It's hard to get production out of 1 rookie WR, and you're suggesting relying on 2 of them.

Then you consider that Smith nor Doss know the offense right now. So we run the risk of taking a relatively easy early schedule and making it tougher because we'll be spoon feeding 2 rookies into the offense.

I just don't see it happening.

Yeah I like Sidney Rice. But I'm not sure how he's holding up after his injury last season. Haven't herd that much about him. He'd be less expensive than Santonio Holmes and faster and younger than Steve Smith...

If this was any other year(where there was no lockout), I would have to say there has been plenty of rookies that came to a team and made big contributions. Mike Williams last year for example.

Oh I'm not saying I don't think Mase is resigned. I was saying I wouldn't mind if he stayed that way but you're right because this lockout messed up Smith and Doss from learning the offense. That slipped my mind so I'm with you that he needs to return.

If we make all these moves and Aso doesn't become a Raven I'm going to be mad. All these moves signal freeing up cap space for more than just Ngata, Yanda, Josh Wilson and other Free Agents we have.

Please let this be that we will get Aso to team up with Foxworth(pending he doesn't get cut) or Jimmy Smith if Foxworth does get cut.

There's reports coming out (no link yet) that the Ravens will attempt to re-sign Heap and Mason to cheaper deals. This would explain why Todd Heap's reps say he won't make an official statement until the dust has settled on the whole situation.
