Big Signing Coming?

The ravens are unloading guys like crazy which really interests me to see if they are trying to make room for a big free agent. First Willis then Gregg and now heap. Thoughts?

Nope. The Ravens are clearing up cap space to sign their boatload of valued free agents. Also, this cap space will allow the Ravens to attempt to get a long-term deal done with Haloti Ngata.

Crazy stuff. I know the man's getting old but his route-running skills are still impeccable. I'll miss Mase.

This team's gotten young in a hurry.

It's getting really real.

Actually wouldn't mind if he stayed cut even though I love Mase.

This, players can be cut with a new team friendly deal ready to be signed.

He was due 6 million.

My big issue is that Mason is a great guy to teach the young guys how to run routes, i don't know if anyone else could teach them better.

EDIT: this is getting to the point where nnamdi isn't that unrealistic...

Something tells me some serious FA is going to be signed in. I guess Ozzie will probably resign mason/heap to a lower deal if possible. Ozzie is getting crazy.

I'm about to cry...I sure hope we restructure Mason and Heap. This is too much to take in in such little time haha.

Ouch. Mason organized the player workouts in Towson earlier, he is a true team player true Raven. Really hope he is happy restructuring and with a diminished role, because that is the only way he is staying at this point.

I was behind this in the off season so it is in line with what I wanted. You got to put the fresh blood in and let them play. 3 young WR they drafted the last two years to develop and hopefully they can become viable starters or stars.

I hope we re-sign Mase, but it really isn't the end of the world to see him go. If we want to get younger, this is how we do it - sadly.

Exactly. That's why I said I wouldn't mind if he stayed cut.

Boldin, Smith, Doss, and Reed is a good receiving core with plenty of potential.

I can't say I'm shocked. His long-term replacements were drafted, he's on the decline, and he was supposed to earn a good amount of bread. I still hope he's re-signed though.

I'm totally getting Nostradamus up in here. I think if we sign another free agent center we might cut him.

Foxworth might be up though.

Sounds to me like we want to become that frightening Ravens defense again. Cutting a lot of offense to get younger, while freeing up this space will help fill in the older defensive positions. Just a theory.

"In Ozzie we trust, in Ozzie we trust, in Ozzie we trust,...."

Yes, I am just repeating that over and over and over. I am very upset by this and Heap. I will just keep repeating that until the madness ends. :(

The upside of having three young guys lined up after Boldin is that there's bound to be a quality starter of the three. The downside is that there's a sudden lack of experience if Boldin goes down with an injury or is continually bracketed. It'll be hard to replace the crisp route-running and mind games of a wily veteran like Derrick Mason.

Well seeing the threads, I think Mods should just merge all the release threads into one lol.

I thought Mason would have been a candidate for release mid-season if Torrey Smith or Tandon Doss out performed him but guess Mason is gone now. Looks like the Ravens are trying to get younger.
