Ok this is ridiculous!!! Not HEAPP!!! This literally makes me wanna cry! If we let go of all these players, we'd better be able to sign Yanda and Ngata.

I know Heap's getting older and he hasn't been the same since he's gotten hurt, but I wanted to keep him around for sentimental reasons. It's also not like Heap's a scrub in the league -- there were many plays where Heap came through in the clutch last season, when we thought Boldin or Houshmandzadeh would've been the difference-maker in those situations.

I'll miss Heap, but I completely understand the decision.

If it's 4.6 then it's a smart move. Dickson is a guy with quite a bit of potential in the passing game, and I suppose Pitta has a chance to be a good one as well.

RavensInsider Aaron Wilson
Todd Heap to be cut by Ravens, $4.6 million in savings. He was in final year of his deal

BUT

on a brighter note, Oz is making some good space

Just saw that. Didn't know it was 4.6 million.

I still think they'll resign him. If not, that really sucks.

Well no one is getting cut until Thursday. It wouldnt shock me if Heap was asked to restructure to take less, and if he isnt willing to do that....I still find it hard to believe he would be cut. He had a career year last season in terms of YPC, that kind of production is hard to expect from a couple 2nd year players with limited experience.

Sentimental reasons? Heap had arguably his best season of his career last season despite playing in only 12 games. There is noway that the Ravens are cutting Heap without the pains of re-signing him. In fact I don't even think the Ravens will cut him before a restructure is discussed.

The expectations for Dickson and Pitta are high, but there's no way that Heap isn't in our plans this year.

I don't understand this, I know he has been injured but at the least he deserved to battle with Dickson and Pitta for the starting job.

I can understand McGahee being cut, I can understand Kelly Gregg being cut but Heap is a cut I don't understand. I could understand even Foxworth being cut, but this is just one bad call considering Dickson & Pitta aren't ready.

All I know is if we are cutting Heap, we better be going after Zach Miller, because I'm going to be nervous as hell if we have Dickson & Pitta as our starting TEs. Let's hope Heap is brought back on a cheaper contract, other wise this doesn't make sense other than going after Zach Miller and trying to pry him from Oakland.

If Heap is cut and not signed and the Ravens are going to rely on Dickson & Pitta... Heap's cut will be similar to when we cut Stover, we'll be having TE issues.

If this is to restructure his contract for less money and to get some more cap space then that is good. Otherwise my thoughts..

They drafted 2 TE the year prior for a reason. This will utilize Cam Camerons ace back formation with 2 WR + 2 TE sets that is the bases for his Air Coryell offense. They save money and get their rookies a chance to play. It's not personal, just business.

I doubt we would cut Heap just to go after another FA TE. Dickson and Pitta are basically our future after Heap. If he's not resigned, Expect Pitta and Dickson at TE.

The Baltimore Sun's Jamison Hensley and Carroll-County Times' Aaron Wilson (also of the National Football Post) are both reporting that Heap's been informed of his release. Ozzie Newsome reportedly told Heap, McGahee, and Gregg personally.
