[News] Baltimore Ravens Free Agency Rumor Mill

LAYRON may have gotten too small for a FB position. His transformation to attempt to become a featured back has made him MUCH smaller. I don't think he has the bulk to play FB and I still think he might be too slow for a full time RB.

We definitely need to sign a FB, and a RT. If we can address those two postitions, then we should go after the best corner in our price range. IMO it goes Namdi, Joseph, Wilson, Carr.

Raiders in negotiation with Oakland...haha, also why don't the Ravens persue Nnamdi. If he is willing to take a paycut with the Jets then shouldn't the ravens at least try. On top of that what about Osi. Heard he wants out of New york. Lastly, the Jets have already agreed to terms with Holmes. This stuff is very dated.

How is it possible that the Ravens are not entering the Asomugha derby? There are several REALLY GOOD reasons to do this.

1st - duh! He is the best out there and we need a SHUT DOWN CB. Aso with Reed and the up&coming J. Smith would be a HUGE obstacle for the colts, jets, steelers, patriots, etc...

2nd - Entering the derby, even if we are unsuccessful, will drive up the price that other teams have to pay. The more they pay, the less they have for other FA aquisitions.

3rd - If Wilson or Carr or another FACB really want to be here and see we are in the ASO race - they may be inclined to accept a lesser offer to get one of the open chairs before the music stops.

4th - Signing Aso (or driving up the price) will really get under Rex's skin and who could resist an opportunity to get some digs on that guy. He does it to everyone else every chance he gets.

5th - Biscotti and OZ signing Aso will show Ray Lewis that they are SERIOUS about getting to the big dance one more time before he retires. It will also go a long way towards making ammends with all the fans who will miss out on all the fun at McDaniel college.

C'mon OZ - Sign the man - you can do it!

We are not going to sign nnamdi guys. Any real ravens fan knows this. Look at the oz man's history in free agency we never get into these big name races other then getting anquAN ozzy never spends big on one guy. We draft good keep our own and improve unsung guys we always have Jonathan Joseph is more realistic and I think is the better move. Are you guys forgetting WE JUST DRAFTED A SHUT DOWN CORNER?

Its just nice to dream about Nnamdi. Yeah JJ would be a great addition too. But, we don't know if Smith will actually be a "shut down corner" yet. It would be nice. Our D must...must dominate this year. That is why I would like Nnamdi. Ohh that would be sweet.Especially when we don't know whats happening with our Offense yet.

I hope the jets get nnamdi waste that money on position you don't need and don't fix your d line or o line. We will watch lil ray run all over them and our d smash them like week 1 last year. Remember the d.Keller hit? Hah I love it

Mr Flacco seems to be the authority on all that OZ "has done", but that does not have anything to do with what he "can still do". A Real Fan would still want his team to be the best that it could be, and ASO helps acheive that. As I posted earlier - even if they don't sign him - they have no business NOT TRYING. Show your team, your city, and your loyal fans that they are doing everything they can to improve. Some are crying that Wilson left for just 5mil/year . . . what are they going to say if Aso signs with the Jets for 12-13 mil? It's not always about the money. If Aso thinks the Jets LOVE him and they are a contender, he may sign for a chance at a ring. What harm would it do for the Ravens to show some love too?

History is not the only indicator of things to happen in the future - people change - and OZ has shown in the past that he can adapt to what the Ravens need.

Josh Wilson which whom was our best corner just went to the skins and we still have Dominique always gets burnt and has to play 10 years off the ball coming off of ACL surgery Foxworth still signed with us? I am extremely disapointed in this move and really am curious too see what happens over the next few days. We now officially have one corner signed to the team who started a game last year (Webb) and that was only 2 games........

What the heck. We need a CB and now Wilson (our best one from last year) is gone. Sign Cromartie please! And Santonio Holmes is going to be haunting us for the next five years. Lets get some work done Ozzie and sign a CB and WR. Sign the steve smiths and/or Burress. We need to spend some money to take the next step, I can still hear Harbaugh saying "we believe we have the personnel it takes..." the year before we traded for Boldin. How did that work out? Time to make some progress! And Oher needs some major work too don't think signing Yanda saved our O-Line, how did we do against James Harrison without Gaither last year? That's what I thought.

If Ozzie is as forward thinking as we all think (or thought according to this) but maybe he is just waiting to strike. That being said I am not sayin he will this year, but maybe he is passing on this year's volvo for nest year's cadillac. Just saying next year Marques Colston, Dwayne Bowe, Jon beason, and..... Larry Fitzgerald as WR's and Leon hall comes up nest year, and Mario William's for that pass rush just to name a few.

We could resign our guys we need like Haloti, RR, and Flacco see where we are left. If we do that and the move from there in free agency then we are going to have a better idea of where we stand for cap space what an accurate figure on cap space and where best to allocate that.

I love that he is talking to our own player's because in a few years our big nucleus is going to be gone and maybe 2 of them who knows. That being said it is important to lock up the guys who are going to be bearing the Raven's mantle when they leave. Resigning guys like Flacco, RR, Haloti, Ed Dickson so on and so forth, We do this that means the next 5 or 6 years we have a very god nucleus to go forward with.

And where are people getting that we downgraded ??? That is a little premature dont you think. I love them as much as the next guy however you don't win SB's with sentiments and fond memories. That being said now that Mason has left, that mean's we have a multitude of guy;s who may just actually be able to play ball, nobody knows how they are going to pan out, James Hardy, Torrey, Tandon, and Q could very well put Joe over 5,000 SOON. This gives him guys to not have to worry about retiring and then having to build chemistry with new people.

Now I am not saying that this year I would be overjoyed if we made no moves in FA, however if tha means next year we can sign Beason/Fitz, Williams/Bowe, Leon Hall/Colston, or really any of those combo's that you like than I am more than ok for the Wizard to wait just a little bit, because next year the cap goes up a little, and then all these big free agent signing's will probably be getting great money to count against some of these guy's cap's so we should just calm down and let Ozzie do what we praise him for.

I really believe that the Ravens are putting way too much pressure on CB Jimmy Smith to step up and perform as a CB. Especially with this lockout we dont know how he will perform. The smartest thing that i think that Ozzie could do is sign Nnamdi. There wouldnt be a better mentor for Jimmy Smith and the Ravens would have a true CB tandem for years to come.
