We were not the 4th best run-blocking OL. PFF needs their heads checked on that one. If I had a dime for every time we struggled to run the ball, especially in short-yardage situations, I'd be a wealthy dude.

We were better in pass-protection but not by much.

That particular rating was for the 09 season when Gaither was playing, the article itself is cumulative breakdown of the oline over the last 3 seasons.

I am soooooo sick of the Matt Ryan / Joe Flacco comparisons , im done with him, he could have won the SB this past season and i still would pick Flacco over Ryan.

On a side note - is it just me or does anyone else think Ryan looks like a chipmunk.
Yessssssss. But idk, if he won the superbowl last year. Ijdk.

You sure? The title reads 2010 rankings and I was commenting on the "Run Rank 4th" part.

Its really simple people. Ryan and Freeman appear to have the "IT" factor the MEDIA is looking for. What is this "IT" factor? It's making plays, and having a personality.

This situation is similar to what one may experience at a job.

I am like Joe, not forcefully outspoken. At my work, my boss would rather spend time talking to the loud, funny, less hard working guy, and speak to me, when I am quiet, and more boring, and tend to focus more on working then him (my boss).

Its really that simple.

Minor note: Freeman wasn't a rookie, this was his second season. His rookie year was terrible.Other than that, who cares. Joe will never get respect unless he wins MULTIPLE superbowls, not just one. The first time he does it will be "because his team carried him to it".I'd rather be the overlooked team. I'm a Lakers fan, and I know what it's like to support a team who the media adores. This is better.

yeah, it's embarrassing to admit now lol...but when I was just a lil Fly, I was totally enarmored by the Magic / Larry rivalry, that's what drew me into basketball. Funny enough, Larry is my favorite player even though LA is my team.

And I figured you're a Nugs fan, since you're in COL

Who cares. We went to the playoffs. We at least gave it a shot.

I look forward to this coming season as things will definitely turn out different.

Nothing new here, I don't particularly care. I lived 20 minutes from Tampa for about 3 years so the Bucs have always kinda been my NFC team. I think Freeman is a good young QB and he is only going to get better for them IMO. That said the media is amazed at his "clutch ability" and his 4th qtr comebacks against the dregs of the NFC West and AFC West last year. Not trying to discount those wins and I am a Freeman fan, but Flacco with just one more season under his belt has had the better career from his first game against Cincy in '08. I'd would be exceptionally surprised if the Bucs win double digit games again due to their fairly easy schedule last year. Meanwhile, Flacco gets the NFC West this year and rebuilding teams like the Titans and Jaguars, got a feeling Joe will one up him against those same opponents he faced last year, and the media will give the vredit to the defense or whoever else they can...seriously don't understand the media hate for a QB who has put together 3 of the most successful seasons of ANY QB in his first 3 in the league. Probably will never change even after winning a SB. As I said, I'm over this topic, its pointless to argue more than I already have in the past, nothing gets through those thick skulls of the talking heads....

People over react to what the QB does, remember when Manning was struggling for those four games last year? The media was all over him, wondering is this the beginning of the end? Go look at his stats for last year, he threw for 4700 yards, 33TDs, 17Ints...91 QB Rating...

Thats the most yards he's ever thrown for, the TDs are right in line with his career..maybe a little above

I think the reason Freeman gets the attention is because of how many late comebacks he has in his short career. But if you think about it he has a pretty good team around him; with Winslow at tight end, Blunt is an emerging star at running back, and a good defense.
Dont think thats it, Joe had a few comeback wins last year too..They like Freeman because he's in Tampa Bay and his numbers looked good...in reality that team didnt beat anyone with a winning record and Freeman got lucky with Mike Williams turning into a monster his rookie year

There is no way what matters is as a QB can you come through in the big spots Joe has and has won at least one playoff game every year he has been in the league. Thats all the that matters

Seriously what are these guys watching. Normally, I agree with a lot of what is written on PFF, but to say our O-line was 4th best at run-blocking last season is insane. 3.8 YPA is pathetic, Ray Rice dipped from 5.0 YPA in 09' to 4.0 last year. I think that says something about the offensive line.

ESPN is losing my respect...first with all of this drama that they keep slamming in my face.

Brett Favre, Harisson, CBA, etc...

They also don't give the Ravens, more specifically Flacco any respect.

Last, they blocked me today for saying that Al Davis was the wind beneath my wings...what a joke

But here is my argument , is Big Ben playing on the Stealers Defense, NO.

And No one was arguing about the stealers back-up QB until the RAVENS beat them, they were undefeated until we got our hands on them.
To me the whole record thing with big ben is hog wash IMO. Dont worry the Ravens have their number this yr, both games maybe 3 games but i doubt the Stealers are making it to the play offs, its just a gut feeling i have. They are going to be a wreck this yr and then you will hear all the excuses from their fans when we sweep them.
i agree with this wholeheartedly. but....

this is a QB driven league! at least that is what everyone keeps saying. and if that is the case....that position must produce! especially....in big games and against your rivals on a consistent basis.

Heck I won $800 in my fantasy league championship with Flacco as my Qb most of the season in 2009. I didn't play last year, but his numbers were definitely a little better fantasy wise last year so that absolutely would make him a top 10 fantasy QB IMO, I concur.

I'll do you one better, in his 2 year career, Freeman has only beaten 3 teams with a winning record or should I say his team has beaten 3 teams with winning records.

Call me a homer or call me whatever you like, but until I see Freeman put together back to back impressive seasons, he's just a one year wonders. Does the name Derrek Anderson ring a bell?

And no I'm not hating on the guy, because I do think he can be a really good QB and I actually thought he'd be the best QB in his draft class. I just wanna see him do it consistently before putting so much praise on him.

Looks like Ed Reed feels much of the same as you.

“I still love Rex,” Reed said. “He was like a father figure, like a brother and everything. He taught me a lot about the game.

“But we have a great coach in Baltimore right now. That’s what I said right after that part, but they cut that out. Coach Harbaugh has done a great job with us. … There is a reason why we’ve had success in Baltimore with Coach here. ESPN is all about drama.”

Reed said it will be hard for him to do another interview with ESPN.

Ryan and Freeman are the face of the franchise. They will always get love. Joe will always get no love for to reason. First, he really isnt a exciting personality thats going to sell alot of papers. Joe is Joe, cool headed. 2nd until Ray and Ed retire, the media will always think of this team as a Defensive team first.

All I can hope for in all honesty is that Joe Flacco is a reader. Not just any reader, but reader of our blogs, ESPN and NFL.com. This kind of chatter will wake a dead man up I assure you.

Joe if you are reading this, all you need to do is play like your capable of and shut all the nay sayers up once and for all! I don't mean nay sayers on the blog, but the so called rivals, pundit nay sayers out there!

This will get a lot of flame, but w/e. Let me just preface this by saying that I am one of the biggest Flacco apologists in the world

If the Bucs offered Freeman straight up for Flacco, I would probably accept the deal (it's pretty close though, it's like close to 50-50), but I would give Joe a Cam-less season before determining which would be better

I would need to see a lot more out of Freeman before I would consider doing that. He definitely has a lot of talent, but until he can put up consistent numbers against quality opposition I will take Flacco ahead of him every time. Freeman may continue to improve and end up being a better QB, but he hasnt proven himself yet.
