Well, if Peyton's back for our game, they'll have a great chance to beat us. The Colts are another team we can't figure out.
We'll beat the Colts this year, with or without Manning. I have hardly any doubts about it. The team I'm worried about is the Steelers, then when we beat them to go to the Super Bowl and if the Pack is waiting there for us, then I'm worried even more so about them.

The Colts have Manning. Without him, they become instantly below average IMO. They're a 6-10 team without him. What do they have besides him? Their coach is atrocious, Wayne is slowing down, Collie is a very high injury risk, Garcon has troubles catching, and Clark is coming off a season ending injury. None of that even matters if they have no one to throw it to them (Collins is average at best). Run game is nonexistant, defense cannot stop anyone.

With Peyton in against us, they have a slightly better chance at beating us, but we are much more dynamic this year on offense than we've ever been IMO

Statement just released from the Colts' corral:

"In response to a number of media inquiries, the Colts issue the following update on Peyton Manning’s status.

As a result of the most recent development the doctors have decided that Peyton will not practice. His participation therefore, in Sunday’s game versus Houston will likely be doubtful. We will update his playing status as required by NFL policy as the week goes on.

FULL STATEMENT: http://www.colts.com...1d-195b59128969

They list hiim as doubtful. I'd say that is optimistic... No chance he plays, IMO... The key is, if he misses the first 3 games (Texans, Browns & Pittsburgh) Indy starts out 0-3... and watches the Super Bowl from their home stadium with NO chance of participating.

And Pittsburgh gets a free win.
Yep.

On a related note, the Colts fans are going crazy, over their owner's tweets the last 3 days, on the Manning situation. Reading these tweets, I think I can safely say that Jim Irsay is out of his mind, and shouldn't be allowed computer access anymore.

He tries to get cute with a serious, distressing (in Colts' fans mind) situation:

Weather forecast ever changing...ominous storm clouds gathering...it never rains under my umbrella....

There was the Rams-K Warner Sup year./ There was Patriot 2001-Brady Sup.year.--- Every year. is interesting n unpredictable in NFL!!!!

This ain't a dream no more...it's the real thing..give me a second, let me get it 2gether, just got 2 pick myself up off the floor

No quarter?NONE ASKED!We made a promise,we swore we'd always remember,no retreat,no surrender;like soldiers in a winter's nite,a vow 2defend

Very bizzare. This isn't some teenage kid, but an NFL franchise owner... smh.

breaking news: Peyton Manning Stops Practicing and is downgraded to doubtful for week 1

I wouldn't say Pittsburgh is getting a easy win, I mean who knows Kerry Collins could do something for the Colts and help them win, plus Peyton could be ready to play against Pittsburgh... we can only hope.

I wouldn't write them off as an automatic 0-3. We did the same thing with the Steelers last year. Collins is a game manager. He won't pick apart defenses but he also won't turn the ball over as much as Manning. Top teams tend to be very resilient. Manning is a huge loss but I wouldn't be surprised if they could pull off a 2-1 record.

I don't know - Pittsburgh and the Texans would be tough with Peyton. If he comes back, he won't be sharp... and Collins is a lesser talent. Their defense isn't elite (20th last year), nor their running game (29th!).

They can beat Cleveland, sure. But last year, with Peyton, they opened up at Houston and lost - despite Manning throwing for 433 yards. Without Peyton... I think they're in trouble.

Pittsburgh's #1 weakness is their pass defense, but that threat will be greatly lessened without Manning. The Colts won't run against the Steelers, and their D...

They're in trouble.

I easily see 1-2 within their first 3 games, and hey it could be 0-3 if Cleveland does pull the upset. I guess before we try to predict the Colts record we should see how many games Peyton Manning will miss first. Any update on that?

The Colts match up well with the Steelers WITH Manning in there. Manning's WRs vs their CBs...mismatch for sure.

I could see that as a shootout, and in a shootout, I'd take the Colts. The Steelers have a better defense and pass rush, but the Colts would be going up against a more exposable secondary, and as bad as their O line is, the Steelers line is worse. And regardless of whether or not the Steelers have a better pass rush, the Colts still have Freeney and Mathis. No need to blitz, just send 4 man rushes almost every play and use more DBs. Only weakness in that plan is it would open up Mendenhall and the running game.

So if the Steelers play the Colts without Manning, they have more flexibility on offense. But with Manning in there, they will have to run Rashard down Indy's throat, it's clearly their best chance. If the Colts can hold him in check, we probably see a Colts victory.

The reports that ESPN has been giving as of late involve Peyton being told not to practice, as He isn't expected to start on Sunday.

I'll believe it when I see it.

With regards to Flacco, this means he now owns the third longest active streak of starts (in the regular season I believe) in the NFL behind only Rivers and Eli. Pretty impressive for a guy who plays in the AFC North and gets sacked on regular occasion.

This is only for quarterbacks though. I'm not sure why they don't keep track of other positions. I know Jarret Johnson is in triple digits now, whereas Flacco is at 48.

That's true, I forgot to mention that part. They should keep track of other positions but, like with all other aspects of the game, QB gets the vast majority of the emphasis.

Does this mean that Joe Flacco is the new leader of quarterbacks who started since day one?

I can't think of anyone older who has started every game since his rookie season.

I recieved an email from footballguys.com saying that a radio host in Indy reported that Manning would miss the entire season, according to his reputable sources. I don't feel good about Manning playing at all this year to be honest with you. This neck stuff is serious business. His Brother Cooper quit football in entirety due to a spinal issue...... maybe it runs in the family??

Does it really matter how many games Joe starts in a row, did it really matter Peyton was on track to catch Favre's consecutive start record, does it really matter if Favre holds that record? I mean having the Consecutive Starts Record is about the same as winning the Perfect Attendance Award in School. In School, the only thing that matters is what it says on your report card, and how you do on your finals and if you pass, in Football all that matters is if the Ravens have enough Ws in the Win Column to make the playoffs and have a shot at getting to the Super Bowl.

Jay Glazer & Peter King just tweeted that "Manning could have a procedure. He and team still investigating options. But it has not happened yet."

This is the 2nd radio host this week who claimed Manning was imminently getting surgery. On the other hand, I'm not ruling it out - they cover the Colts and (they claim) to have sources within the Colts' organization...

FWIW - Jason LaCanfora on NFL Network just did a video on Manning, entitled, "Manning out for September?" He's saying IF Peyton came come back by the end of September, you're still looking at a couple of weeks to get physically ready to play (by throwing, running, etc.)
