(Merged) Peyton Manning Underwent Third Neck Surgery

150 posts in this topic

Peyton Manning may not be ready for Colts Training Camp when Camp opens up. In fact it is being reported that he could miss a week, 2 weeks or even the entire Training Camp.

Manning had neck surgery during the lockout and isn't fully healed yet. I know this isn't much since it's Peyton Manning and he'll most likely be ready for the Season Opener but it should be interesting for the Colts to see if they fall to the Super Bowl host curse.

The colts are starting to drop off. They aint what they used to be
Bowing out in the first round is what they often do.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the season after Favre missed his first game, Peyton Manning missed his?

As long as Manning is under center, they will have a chance.

Well with injuries, he might not be under center for 16 games this year. And he might not be the same Manning with injuries

He has started 205ish straight games. Has had injuries like this in the past. I don't see him missing anytime because he won't be ready for training camp...something he really doesn't need anyway.

I see your point but last time he didn't go to training camp the Colts started something like 3-4. And the Colts gotta bank on the rest of the team not getting injured like they did last year. The Colts will always be a threat if Manning is there; but last year when the entire Colts team was injured, they weren't the threat that they used to be, even with a healthy Manning.

It's a pity that we couldn't capitalize on Peyton's injury and play them early. But no, week 14. Dammit.
Exactly. No reason to get excited about this news. The Ravens don't play Indianapolis until very late in the season. But, perhaps if Indianapolis loses enough early in the season... that will guarantee the Ravens won't run into them in the playoffs!

But one thing I do know is.... this year's Super Bowl is in Indianapolis. And I can't think of a better place for the Ravens to win it all!

Anyone who was at the playoff game in Indy 2 seasons ago remembers how Ravens fans took it over. I'd LOVE to see that happen again!

How's this for a update.... Week 1 vs the Texans could see a Peyton Manning-less Colts team. He could remain on the PUP list meaning he would have to miss the first 6 weeks of the season!

Adam Schefter Tweeted this:

Peyton Manning's availability for Colts' regular-season opener in doubt

Of course we face the Colts Week 14!

If the Colts lose Peyton Manning for the first 6 games, I would go so far as to say they'll lose them all, regardless of their schedule. He's basically their only great player on that whole team (other than Wayne, who's slowing down; and Clark, who is Peyton's boy). Every time I see one of Manning's backups put into any game, be it Preseason or be it regular season play, I see them making turnover after turnover.

Oh I know. Everyone says the Colts would turn into a bad team after Peyton and how ironic would it be if the Colts had the worst season ever and ended up drafting Andrew Luck.

Oh please...perish the thought. The Colts wouldn't be bad enough to fall that far. Leave that to the Bengals.

This could very well happen. There defense is spotty and they have no back-up QB.

Ofcourse we thought the same thing about the Steelers last year. A lot of people had them starting off 0-4. But ofcourse they don't have a defense that can carry.

As long as he is back by the time we play them. I want to beat Indy WITH Peyton.

Plus, the Colts have no run game to speak of outside of when teams are playing the pass with 6 DB's on the field... plus, they don't have a reliable backup Qb like Charlie Batch to backup Manning. I mean it; without Manning, they have absolutely nothing to fall back on, because they can't get it to their recievers without a decent Qb throwing it to them, they can't run, and their D is awful (especially Run D).

I'm actually writing up a article about the possibility of Favre going to Indy, this is crazy. First we had Brad Childress picking Favre up from the airport, Irsay took a trip to Hattiesburg, MS... I wonder if Favre will be going back to Indy with him.

Adam Schefter predicted Kerry Collins would be the starter in Week 1 against the Texans, and now it's coming out that Peyton Manning may need more surgery. It is only a report so far, nothing confirmed but it's looking like Kerry Collins will be the starter for the Colts for the foreseeable future beginning next Sunday. That also means Brett Favre can breath a sigh of relief knowing his consecutive start streak will remain in tact.

Even Peyton Manning couldn't help the Colts avoid the Super Bowl Host Curse.

It's saying "indefinitely", not necessarily for the season.

DAmn I hope not because if this is true he may never be the same or just flat out retire. And Tome Brady cannot be the one to beat favre and Marino's records.

Twitter is exploding right now. Its on Colts forums too, with different sources.

Its stemmed from ESPN Radio 1070 Indianapolis , kind of like 105.7 the fan here.

Lets wait for others to start to report it

When twitter explodes with rumors its best to move back and not pay attention until it comes from the horses mouth.

It makes sense with the Colts picking up Collins, because he wasn't a short term solution since he doesn't know the playbook. But this would be an epic loss for the Colts if true.

Oh I know... I drafted him in another league on ESPN but thankfully I drafted Matt Ryan as my starter, and there goes the trade I was going to do by trading Manning for a WR(in the ESPN league) down the drain.

Is it too soon to say Andrew Luck?
