Bold Predictions: Ravens' Future Star

38 posts in this topic

It's Bold Predictions time!

Inspired by ESPN, here's this week's question:

If picking 1 player, who will be the Ravens' future star from 2014-2016? Why?

I'm gonna go out on a limb, and say Arthur Jones. This kid has potential to be a stud, and could be really special. If this guy progresses, he will be a great player. Just watch some of his college film, and you'll see.

Alternate picks are Torrey Smith, and Sergio Kindle.

Since it's a Bold Prediction.

I say James Hardy. The NFL is a pass happy League and we have a young QB who could be one of the best deep passers in the NFL if given the proper weapons.

Hardy will be one of those weapons. He'll be a mismatch for 90% of the defensive backs in the NFL. He'll give Flacco a tall wide body to throw to, he'll give him a down field and red zone target. He'll be a guy who turns errant throws into impressive completions.

In 2014 Hardy and Flacco will have been together for 4 years, and established themselves as one of the better QB/WR tandems in the NFL.

In 2015 Joe Flacco and James Hardy will combine to break the single season record for passing yards and passing TD. That's right, 5000+ yards and 55 TDs for Flacco and 25 TDs for Hardy in 2015.

How Bold is that!!!!!

I'm gonna say Joe Flacco. He's already a star, but is still growing. 2014-2016 he will be in his prime and leading the Ravens to the playoffs and hopefully Super Bowls.

Because he is often maligned by the media, fellow players, and NFL fans (including, or perhaps especially Baltimore's) I think Joe Flacco qualifies as a bold pick.

On defense I think it might be Ngata, but that's not bold at all so I'll go with Jimmy Smith. That's really going out on a limb for me because I don't normally buy into rookie hype.

ED DICKSON: Why you ask??? Isn't it obvious this guy is a monster, big, tall, fast, good leaping ability, good YAC, and I like the way he shields the ball. In 2014-2016 he is going to have developed chemistry with Flacco who we all know is a fan of his TE's he is going to learn under a guy who people said the same thing about years ago, and he is going to be put into an offense that run's a lot of set's that the TE is a receiving weapon.

Ray Lewis :D
( I wish )

I am gonna go with Flacco as well.
He has just a few rough edges to smooth out first, but I see him easily fitting to the 2014 -2016 star range.

Something about Torrey Smith is right. I cannot put my finger on it, but I feel this guy is going to be a super star receiver in 4 yrs!

I hope your feeling is right. I can't really get into the way that he catches and the fact that he is a receiver drafted by Baltimore in the second round makes me wary... more wary than I usually am about guys who haven't played a single down in the NFL.

Haha totally understand, but isn't it bad when you say you cant trust a receiver drafted by your team lol.

Some people might think so, but I think Baltimore's track record more than explains my hesitation.

I second this. The guy is fast and athletic and can catch a mean ball. Ravens have always utilized the TE position well. And Dickson seems to become a breakout star in this league.

However Pitta (who I love) has a chance to eat away at a lot of production that Dickson might have. But usually in the end, one TE prevails.

Tandon Doss. In 3-4 years I think he'll be the next "ol' reliable", except he won't be old. I think he will have nearly perfected the whole route tree and will be dangerous running each route. Like I've said before in a previous bold prediction, he'll be able to make big plays out of plays that were designed to be for short gains.

I think Ed Dickson is going to be a huge star. Cam Cameron knows how to use the TE, and Dickson is a great combination of size, speed, and athleticism.

My future star is Ed Dickson, has shown some flashes in his limited involvement and he will continue to learn under Todd Heap. He's going to huge for this team in the future

Tom Zbikowski is my bold pick. Landry could be leaving for a better payday and I believe Zibby will fill in admirably!

Chykie Brown. He'll be 28 and going into his fourth season come 2014, and the only CBs I see being on the team then will be Jimmy and Webb. The physical tools are there, Texas historically produce good DBs, and so do the Ravens.

Wow guys, Flacco, J. Smith and Kindle dont exactly qualify as bold predictions. Flacco is just about there already, and most of us expect greatness from Smith and Kindle. If I had to pick an under the radar guy to become a future star, I'd choose Ed Dickson. Two players get honorable mention from me:* Chykie Brown. Few people know this guy, but they should. He'll be at minimum our NB, and very possibly our #2 in a couple years.* David Reed. Will be our Joshua Cribbs -- a ST ace who makes plays on offense as well.

With all the other great players we have, a CB doesn't have a chance of being the team "star" because of the position alone. Cmac was great for us, but he was still in the shadows of many other Ravens. Only Revis and Nnamdi are stars of their team, but that's because the rest of the Jets and Raiders are pretty lackluster.

In 3-5 years, the man will be... someone we haven't drafted yet. And Ngata.
