Agreed. Do you normally hold onto two defenses or do you just drop and pickup week to week

90% of the time across my leagues, it's 1 defense. There are times I might stumble upon one where I hold two. My problem is that I see so much potential on the waiver wire (skilled positions) I can't justify holding onto 2 defenses for very long.

I've been in leagues where 75% of the teams play matchups and I can always still find a team D thats serviceable.

Ofcourse if the D can score more points than the usually set up. I place more of an emphasis on D. But these leagues are rare, and if they do give additional points, they usually are giving bonus points to the skilled positions as well.

It amazes me how often people don't use this or the trade/advice threads. Instead we get handfuls of new threads asking for people to rate their drafts and if they should accept such and such trade.

How about this, guys? My first ever Fantasy NFL draft. 12 team league and I had 11th pick.

1. Maurice Jones-Drew
2. Andre Johnson
3. Peyton Hillis
4. Percy Harvin
5. Ben Roethlisberger
6. Jermichael Finley
7. Lee Evans
8. Joseph Addai
9. Julio Jones
10. Detroit Lions DEF
11. Mark Sanchez
12. Johnny Knox
13. Benjamin Watson
14. Davone Bess
15. Connor Barth (K)

I think I reached for Lee Evans, and the Detroit D.

Definitely reached for Lee Evans and the Detroit D. Percy as your number one is also very sketchy. Peyton Hillis in the 3rd round isn't bad. Maybe trading Jones-Drew for a wide reciever might not be bad. Big Ben isn't a consistent fantasy qb. Not the best draft. Just make sure you stay active on the waiver wire. Maybe pickup benard berrian or someone like that

Yeah, looking back I hate my Evans pick.

Alot of guys in my draft were reaching really early for defences. I waited and waited but eventually thought I should take one before the decent ones were gone.

I thought Percy as my #2 WR was a decent pick with McNabb up there now, and he should get alot of targets. I'll probably rotate him based on match-ups because I see Julio Jones getting more looks as the season goes on, and I'm hoping/expecting that Johnny Knox moves ahead of Roy Williams on the depth chart.

Addai is a decent backup RB I thought as well behind Hillis and MJD as my 1-2 punch.

Yeah, I'm going to have to learn about the waiver wire quick! Don't really get the whole process yet but I'll get there I guess.
