Fantasy Draft Grades

So I'm in a long time Keeper League, I think this is the 9th season its been going on now. We keep 2 players from the previous season, but can only keep them for 2 extra years then they get thrown back in. Its a .5 PPR league that starts 3WR and scores 6pts for a passing TD. Unfortunately I couldnt make the draft because I was on vacation, but my league drafted me a solid team. I kept Vick and Foster from last year.

QB: Michael Vick
RB: Arian Foster
RB: LeSean McCoy
WR: Santonio Holmes
WR: Mike Williams (TB)
WR: Sidney Rice
W/R/T: Knowshown Moreno
TE: Marcedes Lewis
Def: Atl
K: Gostkowski
B: Pierre Garcon
B: Emmanuel Sanders
B: Robert Meachem
B: Matthew Stafford
B: Zach Miller
B: Brandon Jacobs

Overall, I was pretty happy with the team but I feel like I am very weak at WR while strong at RB. Is it possible to win a league w/o a stud WR?

ESPN Standard scoring. 10 person league.

QB:Matt Ryan
RB: Chris Johnson (please give him a contract! Couldn't pass on him at EIGHT though....)
RB: Run DMC
WR/RB: Ryan Grant
WR: Roddy White
WR: Marques Colston
TE: Antonio Gates
K: Josh Brown
DEF: Texans

BEnch:
Mario Manningham
Santana Moss
Joe Flacco
Lee Evans
Reggie Bush
Brandon Jacobs
Thomas Jones

Overall I am very satisfied with my team especially at Running back. Only mistake I made was I overlooked Hightower and when I realized he was still there it was too late.

A- . I like this draft. I see you got Gates. Only person I don't really like is Colston with his micro fracture surgery. Plus I think the Saints run the ball a ton this year.

Don't shoot yourself about Hightower, he looked good in PS2, but in Shanny's system it might be better to pass.

Round 16 - RB Willis McGahee (DEN)
Round 17 - DL Julius Peppers (CHI)
Round 18 - DB Brandon Flowers (KC)
Round 19 - DL Kyle Williams (BUF)
Round 20 - K Billy Cundiff (BAL)

WR - Wallace, Holmes, Johnson, Thomas, Floyd
TE - Graham, Keller
D/ST - Baltimore
K - Cundiff
D - Lewis
DB - Reed, Flowers
DL - Peppers, Williams

Pretty solid team, I'd say. RBs aren't the best, but I think they'll do.

Thats pretty ballin for a 16 team league. Those teams are so discouraging to draft because by the end of it, you are drafting 4th strings of everybody haha. But your overall balanced and got some potential.

You are living and dying on CJ getting a contract. But your right at 8 you have to take him. But I love Bush this year if he stays healthy. Dolphins want to use him more. Gates' health is a question though. But other than that I like your team a lot.

Got a little carried away with the Ravens picks in the middle of the draft I see.... haha. I don't know why people are down on Steve Johnson this year but I think he will have a great year. He plays for Buffalo but he really showed flashes of potential. Jahvid best is going to be a best too. Overall real solid team for a 12 team league except your receivers are more explosive players than ppr players.

It's okay, because McCoy and Best will be valuable in PPR. Johnson should get a good amount of catches per game too, he's the only receiver Buffalo has now.

Agreed. i think a 12 team PPR is perfect. A team is always going to have some give and take. Your team is very balanced and has a lot of potential. Hopefully it pays off for you

Pretty good for a 14 team league. QB and RB are your weakest spots but still serviceable. However, I think you might have trouble during your starting RB's bye weeks. Your backups are pretty big question marks right now (as far as how much they will be utilized) and both are second on the depth chart. Is your league a 2 RB/3 WR starting roster? Also, what was your draft order? Overall you are solid, maybe lacking on explosiveness, but you'll be competitive for sure with your WR lineup. Honestly in a 14-team league you probably couldn't have done much better.

Here's mine:

12 Team PPR league on ESPN. Second pick in standard snake draft.

QB: Philip Rivers (2)
RB: Arian Foster (1)
RB: Jahvid Best (4)
RB/WR: Lance Moore (6)
WR: Hakeem Nicks (3)
WR: Brandon Lloyd (5)
TE: Rob Gronkowski (8)
D/ST: Bears (12)
K: Neil Rackers (13)

BE: David Garrard, QB (11)
BE: Ryan Mathews, RB (7)
BE: Danny Woodhead, RB (10)
BE: Ryan Snelling, RB (16)
BE: Malcolm Floyd, WR (9)
BE: Danny Amendola, WR (15)
BE: Tony Moeaki, TE (14)

Hindisight Observations:
- I reached for Lance Moore in Round 6, I know. I just love his QB situation and red zone targets.
- Possibly went a round too early on TE/DST/K, but the people in my league were drafting WAY early on each of these positions (first D/ST went in Round 4...), and I felt I had enough depth at the time when I picked each.
- Orton, Kolb, and Cassel were all available at the time I picked Garrard but they all have the same bye week as Rivers. Ha.
- I have a lot resting on the health of Best and Mathews.
- I apparently really like the Chargers...

I think Boldin could have a good fantasy year. But I really don't know. But there are so many weapons in Baltimore, that I'm just not sold on Boldin for fantasy. He was so inconsistent for me last year. I like Britt though, but he will probably be suspended for the first couple games. You got some talent at rb, but I hate Beanie and Forte. They are decent but they don't have very much potential. Beanie might be better than I think because Kolb is there now. Who knows. Grant and AP might be your best rbs this year.

Wide receivers are alright. I think Bowe will struggle some this year against better talent just because I expect the chiefs to have a down year. Last year their schedule was pathetic which is why they won 10 games. This year will be tougher for the chiefs. Maybe package turner and Bowe for a rb and wr. But you have some talent at wr. And some potential at TE. Flacco isn't the best fantasy qb. He doesn't put up stats like upper tier of qb's. But he will be solid. Good 14 team league.

Love the team except for WR. Brandon Lloyd had one good year in my mind. I just don't trust him. At all, because of the qb situation they have there. Lance Moore was a big reach, and probably the only mistake of the draft. Saints have so many weapons that he won't be consistent. Ryan Matthews and Jahvid Best will be big for you this year. I honestly think that the Chargers need Ryan Matthews to be good this year if the Chargers want to take that next step. Tolbert is good but isn't the home run threat they need

Your WRs are set but why have Kerry Collins on your roster? In a ten team league, there must be better options at a backup QB (or filler until Manning returns than Collins). You'll be fine at RB if CJ2K misses a game or two.

I dropped Sam Bradford in order to get Collins, because I'm hoping Manning only misses one week, and Bradford plays the Eagles, so I can't see him having a very productive game. We'll see, though. I still have time to figure out what I want to do.

Just finished up our startup draft in a 12-team dynasty league. The roster requirements are QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, K, 3 DL, 4 LB, 4 DB. 20 pass yards = 1 point, and all TDs = 6. 1 point per 15 PR yards, and 1 point per 20 KR yards. As for defense, it's normal IDP scoring except for sacks, which are worth 5. I had the #3 pick. Here's what my team looks like.

QB: Peyton Manning, Tony Romo, Josh Johnson
RB: Ray Rice, Darren McFadden, Fred Jackson, Kendall Hunter, Shane Vereen, Delone Carter
WR: Mike Williams (TB), Stevie Johnson, Sydney Rice, Malcom Floyd, Leonard Hankerson, Torrey Smith
TE: Jimmy Graham, Greg Olsen
K: Kaeding
LB: James Anderson, DeMeco Ryans, Paul Posluzney, James Farrior, Donald Butler, Akeem Ayers
DB: Tramon Williams, Brent Grimes, Chris Hope, Abram Elam, Patrick Peterson, Captain Munnerlyn
DL: Da'Quan Bowers, Kyle Williams, B.J. Raji, Corey Redding, Phil Taylor

I don't know why you dropped Bradford. I understand that one week idea but you should drop Collins, Starks, and or Jennings. And definitely pickup orton and Bradford. Pickup Orton. He should be your number two. But I like Bradford. But definitely pickup Orton.

Your team looks decent but you need to resist the urge for homer picks (Ray Rice excluded, that was a good pick). What round did you take Flacco as a backup? If it was early on, bad move. Backup QBs, ideally, will only play one game for you. Not worth reaching for them.

Knowing your draft order would help. Did you take Lee Evans as your first WR? I think Lee will have a great year, but he shouldn't have gone before Greg Jennings, if that's the order you drafted in. Also how many starting RBs/WRs? Taking two TEs I can understand (I've done it, but not the best move) but two defenses? Wasted pick. Defenses are unreliable for fantasy points. You should have gone for more depth at RB instead.

Nothing makes me smile more than when I see defenses being drafted early on. Allows me to get more depth.

I did an analysis to see who's starting defense scored more points throughout the season. The team who had and started the #1 defense or my matchup defenses. My matchup defenses trumped the #1 defense for at least two straight seasons in a row. And it wasn't even close.

Nice, I'll have to try that more often. I usually go matchup D towards mid-season since most good players on waivers have been claimed, and a lot of people have dumped their initial Ds by then for bye weeks.

I did an analysis to see who's starting defense scored more points throughout the season. The team who had and started the #1 defense or my matchup defenses. My matchup defenses trumped the #1 defense for at least two straight seasons in a row. And it wasn't even close.

Agreed. Do you normally hold onto two defenses or do you just drop and pickup week to week
