Good Job. Good spread of talent. Good bench, filled with guys who's value could go up. I'd be very, very happy with a draft like this in a 12 team.

Tight end might be an area of concern. Zach Miller is on a new team with T Jackson throwing him the ball. Watson is an engima.

One of my best drafts yet. I coulda used a bit more RB depth, but the WR talent on the board was astonishing. 1 QB, 3 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D. 12 Teams; Pick 10

1. Aaron Rodgers (GB - QB)
2. Maurice Jones-Drew (Jac - RB)
3. Dwayne Bowe (KC - WR)
4. Brandon Lloyd (Den - WR)
5. Anquan Boldin (Bal - WR)
6. Cedric Benson (Cin - RB)
7. Jonathan Stewart (Car - RB)
8. Santana Moss (Was - WR)
9. Michael Crabtree (SF - WR)
10. A.J. Green (Cin - WR)
11. Brandon Pettigrew (Det - TE)
12. Sam Bradford (StL - QB)
13. Brandon Jacobs (NYG - RB)
14. Adam Vinatieri (Ind - K)
15. Dallas (Dal - DEF)

So, after doing my first draft, I think I turned out pretty well.

Round 1, Pick 5: RB Ray Rice (BAL)
Round 2, Pick 16: QB Philip Rivers (SD)
Round 3, Pick 25: RB Ahmad Bradshaw (NYG)
Round 4, Pick 36: WR Mike Williams (TB)
Round 5, Pick 45: TE Vernon Davis (SF)
Round 6, Pick 56: WR Mario Manningham (NYG)
Round 7, Pick 65: WR Percy Harvin (MIN)
Round 8, Pick 76: RB Ryan Grant (GB)
Round 9, Pick 85: WR Mike Thomas (JAC)
Round 10, Pick 96: QB Josh Freeman (TB)
Round 11, Pick 105: Atlanta D/ST
Round 12, Pick 116: WR Danny Amendola (WR)
Round 13, Pick 125: TE Dustin Keller (NYJ)
Round 14, Pick 136: New England D/ST
Round 15, Pick 145: RB Willis McGahee (DEN)
Round 16, Pick 156: WR Jacoby Ford (OAK)
Round 17, Pick 165: K Billy Cundiff (BAL)
Round 18, Pick 176: TE Ed Dickson (BAL)

I know, people may critique the dual defenses, but the talent was so skimpy at round 14, that pretty much anyone was a reach. So I figured I'd rather have a second decent defense... even though I normally just ride the waivers the week my main defense is out (if I even have one). I'm pretty happy with my starters, and most of my depth. Freeman in round ten was too good to pass up.

So I'm pretty set in a QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, WR/RB, WR/RB/TE, league.

QB - Rivers
RB - Rice, Bradshaw
WR - Williams, Harvin
TE - Davis
W/R - Manningham
W/R/T - Grant
D/ST - Atlanta
K - Cundiff

Bench - Freeman, Ford, Dickson, Thomas, Keller, McGahee, New England, Amendola

12 Team. Very, very good draft IMO. 18 rounds is a very deep team so two defenses is very acceptable.

If it were me, I'd Probably pass on Freeman since you got Rivers early. Try and get a guy like Bradford/Stafford a few rounds later. And with that pick, load up on another RB or WR, perhaps even Jacobs. I know that part of the draft is pretty iffy though.

So I thought I'd try a mock to get ready for my major drafts coming up next month:

Round 1. Darren McFadden (Oak - RB)
Round 2. Frank Gore (SF - RB)
Round 3. DeSean Jackson (Phi - WR)
Round 4. Matt Ryan (Atl - QB)
Round 5. Owen Daniels (Hou - TE)
Round 6. Kenny Britt (Ten - WR)
Round 7. Johnny Knox (Chi - WR)
Round 8. Ryan Grant (GB - RB)
Round 9. Malcom Floyd (SD - WR)
Round 10. Ryan Torain (Was - RB)
Round 11. Lance Moore (NO - WR)
Round 12. David Garrard (Jac - QB)
Round 13. Todd Heap (Ari - TE)
Round 14. Atlanta (Atl - DEF)
Round 15. Lawrence Tynes (NYG - K)

QB - Ryan, Garrard
RB - McFadden, Gore, Grant, Torain
WR - D. Jackson, Britt, Knox, Floyd, Moore
TE - Daniels, Heap
D/ST - Atlanta
K - Tynes

My receiver depth is rather weak, and would only be worse if Britt ends up suspended. Not too bad though. I love Heap as a sleeper with Kolb and his tendency to look to his tight ends being in Arizona.

I'd give you a solid B for that draft ATD.

You already discussed the potential issues at WR. I like RB corps, but you have to hope Grant can be productive and stay healthy to cover when McFadden and/or Gore inevitably go down. Still, Gore as your RB2 is very nice.

Weren't there better backup QB options than Garrard though?

I waited too long for my back-up QB actually. At the beginning of the round there were some solid back-ups, but it seemed quite a few people were looking for their back-ups. I was stuck with Garrard, McNabb, Sanchez, or Henne. Sanchez was my choice, but (regardless of it being a mock) he shared the same bye as Ryan. I can see the Vikes being a run first offense this year, and Henne is terrible. Garrard seemed like the lesser of two evils.

That my friend is near perfection. MJD with a late second round pick, that's some value. Then you were able to catch up on the WR mania with three straight WRs including Holmes in the 5th w/ value. Then picked up an additional 2 RBs (who are starters) and MIke Thomas who is a #1 WR on the Jags.

Eli seems high in Round 6, unless there was a crazy run on QBs, he probably would've been around for at least two rounds. But you probably felt the need to fill the position and Eli was probably the best option left after the top 8 or so went off.

Only thing I'd be worried about is your tight end. It is yet to be seen what sort of impact Zach will make on a new team. Plus he might get some production taken away by Carlson.

Aside from Moreno, I think that's a solid draft. Zach Miller's value definitely dived going to Seattle, but he'll still see a good amount of looks as Jackson's safety blanket. I like Thomas after Sims-Walker left town, played well last year and should still play on a good level.

So I just partook in two drafts, one on NFL.com and one on ESPN. My ESPN one was a 20 team draft, with 17 teams not there. Oh and I had the 20th pick. So all in all, terrible draft, so I won't bother posting it. However, I think I did quite solidly on my 10 team, IDP draft.

Round 1. RB Ray Rice
Round 2. WR Andre Johnson
Round 3. RB Ahmad Bradshaw
Round 4. WR Mike Wallace
Round 5. RB Ryan Grant
Round 6. WR Steve Johnson
Round 7. QB Matt Ryan
Round 8. WR Mike Williams (TB)
Round 9. TE Jimmy Graham
Round 10. RB Marshawn Lynch
Round 11. WR Mike Thomas
Round 12. QB Eli Manning
Round 13. RB Mikel Leshoure
Round 14. Lions D/ST
Round 15. LB Lawrence Timmons
Round 16. DL Jared allen
Round 17. WR Lance Moore
Round 18. DB Dawan Landry
Round 19. TE Todd Heap
Round 20. K Mason Crosby

Of course, it helped that there was a dude who missed the first 5 rounds, who obviously set his rankings to favor the Ravens. Picked Anquan in the first, Flacco in the second, Ravens D/ST third, and Cundiff in the fourth.

Every team in a 20 team league looks bad. It's all about who has the most players who blow up in those leagues.

As for your 10 team draft. It's very solid. Andre Johnson and Ray Rice drafted that far apart is a great base for your team. Stud RB, Stud WR. Just hope that either Bradshaw or Ryan Grant can really take the bull by the horn to become a consistent #2 guy.

I find it hard to believe that Mike Williams went two rounds after Steve Johnson. Usually its the other way around. Guess you must be really high on Stevie J this year.

Love the Jimmy Graham pick there.

Great draft. You were able to get two stud RB, and two stud WR and still managed to pick up the last of the pseudo-great QBs (Schaub). Barring injury, you should have a pretty good year with that team.

Truth be told, I didn't notice it was Mike Williams from Tampa Bay, I was just glancing through the available WRs, and assumed it was Seattle's. So I went with Johnson, later on I noticed it was Tampa's, and couldn't pass him by. Stevie's already on the block for me.

If Grant stays healthy, he's Green Bay's number one. No one really stood out enough after he went down for them to really eat into his touches.

I think Graham is poised to have a great year after what he showed last year. David Thomas isn't a great catching tight end, so Jimmy has to be the go-to guy at the position.

I'm not a fan of Turner, as I think Atlanta's going to see the pass more this year. Although Turner will still see his touches, he's just getting slower and slower. I'd say Britt is a risk, since we don't know if he'll miss any time after his... exciting off season, but with Jennings and Jackson, won't be a hard hit if he does. Pretty good depth too. Even with more risky choices for your depth (Torain and injuries, Garcon's up and down weeks, Miller going to a weaker quarterback, Stewart having to be stuck behind Williams), your starters offset it. Good draft.

I'd give you a solid 'B' for that draft. Your WR corps is obviously strong, and there's some upside at RB beyond the starters. I'm not too high on Pettigrew as a TE1 though.

Totally agree with you on Pettigrew. I even passed on drafting him as a back-up tight end, where he's more suited. He's going to end up splitting play time at tight end with Scheffler, which will really hurt his stock. So even if Stafford plays all season, I don't see Pettigrew as anything above a filler role.

So as the day went on and I did a few mock drafts I finally did my second real draft and I am happy with it. Let me know what you think
I had the 4th pick in this league so I got a top notch RB :)!!!

1st round- Adrian Peterson(was ecstatic when I saw the first pick of the draft was Vick, I knew I was getting one of the RBs I wanted.)

2nd round-Roddy White

3rd round-Matt Forte( I picked him up in a lot of my drafts today and hes a decent #2 RB)

4th round-Mike Williams(TB), same story as Forte for me today

5th round-Dwayne Bowe(I am a big fan of Bowes and if he lives up to his potential he could be a really good pick for me here.)

6th round-Jason Witten(Was pretty happy with my team so far and QBs werent coming off the board to fast so I figured I could wait a few round before I got the QB I wanted)

7th round-Mario Manningham(I believe Eli is going to play decent this year and I like Manninghams skillset, not a bad depth WR to have)

8th round- Baltimore Defense(had to get my boys!)

9th round- Nate Kaeding(wanted to go ahead and draft a decent kicker, was going to grab the GB kicker in the 7th or 8th but decided just to grab another WR and D instead)

10th round-Malcolm Floyd

11th round-Joe Flacco!(finally felt it was time to grab my guy here, in every draft I did today Flacco fell till the late rounds, highly underrated and I think a steal in the 11th!)

12th round Matt Cassell(Just wanted to grab a solid backup QB)

13th round-Aaron Hernandez(solid depth at TE to play during Wittens bye week)

14th round-Willis Mcgahee(just to cover for the bye weeks of my two starting RBs)

15th round- Danny Amendola(one of my favorite depth picks in fantasy football, seems noone else was drafting him at all today)

Well let me know what everyone thinks of this draft, any changes I should be gunning for?

Your deep at rb. Which is always a good. I wouldn't trust Boldin being your number 1 receiver or Percy. Both are number 2 guys at best. Might be worth trading Boldin and say McFadden for like Larry Fitzgerald or something or Vincent Jackson.

But Shonn Greene looked good in his preseason game today but was garbage last year for me unforunately. Hopefully it is a sign for change. And I think tolbert might end up being the number one guy in SD by the end of the year. Also, Matt Cassell is terrible in my opinion.

12 team league:

Romo

Fitzgerald
Collie
S. Rice
Mike Sims-Walker
N. Burleson

Peterson
S. Greene
M. Tolbert
Ryan Williams
Tim Hightower
D. Sproles

Witten
Jimmy Graham

Giants DEF

S. Janikowski

This was the first time I've drafted in a 12 team league and I didn't realize the world of difference it was between a 10 and 12 team league. I'd give myself a solid B, but nothing higher. I'd like to think AP, Fitz, Greene, Romo, and Witten to a certain extent will carry me. I really like Collie if he can stay healthy, but that's a big if. Ryan Williams Hightower, and MSW are picks with some upside, and I'm hoping Tolbert will be steal the goal line carries again this year. My big money league draft is this upcoming Sunday, and that's a 10 team league that starts 3 WRs plus a flex player, so hopefully that roster will be better than this one, but I'm pretty satisfied with this squad.

Thoughts?

I would never take a kicker before the last round, but I like your team for the most part. AP at #4 is a steal IMO... I have him as my #1 overall, and quite honestly, it isn't even close. I like having a op tier QB, but it all depends on your points system... good luck this year.

btw, how many teams were there in the draft?

Even a bigger difference from a 10/12 to an 18. But its a solid draft. Tons of potential. Love some of the back-up choices you made. Burleson is a sleeper, Williams can power his way onto the scenes, MSW might be that 'Daniels' Guy. Tolbert could be a #1RB sometime during the season. Graham is going to produce.

If your in a ppr league, I like this draft more. Witten and Fitzy would really help to carry you. Non-ppr I'd be a bit worried about consistency. But at least you have Peterson who is the model of consistency for RB.

I was a ten team draft, i personally like to fill out my "starting roster" i guess you would call it. I had no problem snatching up a kicker early since I had the bulk of my "starters". It might be a bit early but this is my first year trying fantasy football so we will see how it goes :). Thanks for the response!

Yea it was him and ray rice on the board when it was my turn to pick...the homer in me said ray rice but i lost control and my body just clicked AP! (sorry ray, lol)
