honestly we need to keep housh cause doss can learn alot from him he is like throwing housh when he had good hands as a rookie and boldins toughness , dude doss and smith and boldin on 1 line would be killer enough

Doss can learn more from Boldin and Mason... Housh is old, we're trying to get younger. What don't people understand about trying to get younger at WR???

I'm not smoking anything sir. Boldin and Mason had better years than Smith, making them the first and second. Who knows how good Torrey Smith would be this season, so Steve could be a third or a fourth in Baltimore. Very simple logic actually.

Here's the 2010 stats:

Mason: 61 catches, 802 yds, 7 tds, 13.1 avg

Boldin: 64 catches, 837 yds, 7 tds, 13.1 avg

Smith: 46 catches, 554 yds, 2 tds, 12.0 avg

Based on the stats, Mason and Boldin are clearly better. If we're looking for a deep threat, 12 yards a catch is not sufficient, especially when two possession guys beat him on average, yards, catches, and TDs. What are you smokin fella?

That's not necessarily indicative of what Steve Smith is capable of. Smith was on an offense that was not only was the worst passing team in the NFL, but one that also threw a whopping 39.5 Yards Per Game less than the 2nd worst ranked team. To put things in perspective, the 15th ranked passing team in this category, being the Atlanta Falcons, amassed 40.3 more passing YPG than the 31st ranked one. That's a difference of 16 spots...going backwards. Smith still managed to lead his team in yards and receptions in 14 games.

There also wasn't a single starting QB in the NFL with a worse passer rating, turnover ratio, amount of passing yards, amount of TDs, 1st down completion percentage, yards per attempt, completions of over 20 yards and completions of over 40 yards than Jimmy Clausen. The only statistic wherein he isn't ranked as the absolute worst is completion percentage. Unsurprisingly, he managed to finish 31st. One could argue that no player should be forced to shoulder all of the blame. However, in every full game that Matt Moore started in 2010, none of Steve Smith's outputs were lower than 50 yards. In fact, had Moore started the entire season, Smith would've been on pace to amass over 1,100 yards and 8 TDs. Quite a disparity between his numbers with Clausen and his numbers with Moore. Now, I'm in no shape or form arguing whether Smith is superior to Boldin or Mason, nor am I clamoring that we see him in a Raven's uniform in 2011. But concerning statistics, I believe that expecting anything more from his totals would be simply unreasonable, given his situation.

He had freaking Jimmy Clausen throwing him the ball... I see the guy play a lot... Steve Smith as not slowed down one bit as of now...

I like and respect Mason aka Kanye Mase But i would take Smith over him right now... I would take Boldin over Smith only because of age... If they were the same age i would take Smith... Besides Roddy (you cant add in Julio) ... I would take Smith as the old dude now over any of our Other WR's... And im saying this about a player that plays for a division rival... Dude is explosive, physical, and gives everything he has...

JIMMY FREAKIN CLAUSEN man.... Its not Ryan or Flacco... JIMMY FREAKIN CLAUSEN man... In 09 when Matt Moore was his QB the guy average over 15 yards a catch... Wait and see what he does when he goes to the Chargers.

We dont need to sign another Housh. WE need to start bring in more young guys, not more stop gaps.

Steve smith and vincent jackson are nothing like housh.. housh is a slow over the middle type, nothing like jackosn an smith so what are you talking about. and we have young guys and their developing we dont need to bet the farm on some young unprovin recievers ,we need to win now..

We don't need another WR, we need a decent cover corner, like Carlos Rodgers. We should also be aiming for a guy like Cullen Jenkins if we can't get a cover corner.

Look if we are even talking about signing younger receiver's with nnamdi not going to come here we should have cap room to maneuver. If we resign Yanda, Wilson, Ngata,. I would be ok with our losses. If we are going to go receiver for ME it is Mike sim-Walker. 6'2" 210 4.35 40, a few years easily the best receiver on our team, and he will be cheaper than a lot of options. At least if I was going WR that is what I would do.

I wouldn't mind that as much. He's relatively young, fast, and a big target. He's inconsistent, but then again, so is David Garrard. I definitely wouldn't mind pickin him up, but I think the FO wants some homegrown talent to develop with Joe.
