I was playing LA Noire and a notice popped up saying that the PS3 was getting hot and to turn it off. I turned it off. Should there be any cause for concern about permanent damage to my system?

clean it if you can.

the console would go into thermal shutdown if it got dangerously hot, to prevent damage.
