Deemed as the most challenging puzzle in the interwebs, the site has generated 15 million hits since its existence, and only 23 people so far have completed the very final level. Here is an interesting quote from wikipedia giving a perspective on its difficulty.

I remember trying this out years ago, maybe in 2005. I just suddenly got reminded of it again today for some reason, and wanted to try it again. It's really fun to do. It makes you think outside the box and forces you to notice every single detail. Try it out. You'll have fun.

If you guys need any help, just ask here, and I'll try to post hints if you aren't ahead of me lol.

There's really multiple ways to go with it. You have to remember, it's not just a point and click game. You have to use everything you see. Check the hints.

After 7 years, I still haven't gotten past level 11. Mostly because I forgot about it.

I made it through the first 3 levels easy enough. But I am stuck with the password and user on Level 4.

EDIT: I'm and idiot. There's a code. Level 4 solved. Brain took a minute to see it.

What? You don't need to sign up for anything to play. It's part of the game. You need to find the password.

That is part of the riddle. You have to determine what the user id and password is. There is no signing up for anything. Once you get those, then you move to the next level. The log in prompt is common occurrence in the following rounds as well.

All I can say is if you don't think you have a very "nerdy" side, or aren't comfortable with at least intermediate computer language, than give up now. You also have to be a good problem solver.

I know I am a nerd because I just spent a better portion of my friday night trying to figure out these riddles. I've solved most parts but needed some assistance on others, but I am now on level 9. And damn these are tough. I haven't looked up any cheats, but some additional hints to nudge me along. Definitely a good hard brain teaser.

I've tied in all the clues on level 9 w/ no hints, I know what its about, I just can't figure out what change is needed (no log-on prompt) to move on.

Lvl 4 -- the code is contained in the picture. You figure out the code, it gives you the UN and PW to enter into the dialog box that pops up. You're not really registering anywhere

Use EVERYTHING at your disposal. Look at the picture carefully and clearly. If you can't see anything, then the picture isn't clear enough.

Nah, being on the mac doesn't matter...looks like you'll need certain software for some of these challenges though. I needed to fire up Photoshop to figure out Lvl 4

I didn't really need PS for level for. I guess having an LED screen helps.

That one was impossible. I needed help with that one. No way I would have been able to make the connection to the "way it used to be"

Read the hints. Use all fields. Literally everything is at your disposal here. Think outside the box.

honestly, I haven't seen anything yet that involves anything more advanced than HTML and forms, which is as basic as it gets. This would be a good way to learn if you're interested in that kind of stuff, so dont give up if you're worried about the scripting part of it. The general problem solving is much more challenging; this is a great site for people who are a wealth of useless information lol,,,,,,,,,,,,

Also, keep checking your source codes. They usually have hints in them.
