Over/under

41 posts in this topic

Alright guys and gals, let's play a little game called "Over/Under" whereby we list different statistics, etc. and say whether we think the player or team will go over the stated numbers or stay under them, and feel free to explain why or why not.... to begin:

Over/Under: Joe Flacco will throw 15 TD passes this season

I say Over. I like his arm and confidence and the fact we have young, fast receivers along with a solid running game and TE (HEEEEEEEEAP). Not to mention a new and improved offensive scheme to which opposing defenses will not be as familiar.

I also agree, I say Over.

However...with all those TDs, he's also bound to throw more picks.

I say his TD/INT ratio will be close...not exactly even, but similar. Somewhere along the lines of 25 TDs and 15 INTs.

But, I hope I'm wrong about the turnovers, obviously...lol.

That would be great, 25 TD/15 INTs is amazing for a Rookie (heck, it is amazing for ANY Raven's QB and QB in general)... It will also be fun to see how the media compares Ryan and Flacco throughout the season

Under. I say Troy get's healthy and Smith takes over.

I'm going to say under. We would be so lucky if we average one TD per game (Rushing & Passing). Our Red Zone Pass offense has to improve. I think it will be close though.

I'm still expecting a weak Red Zone offense filled with a lot of Field Goals.

hi, I'm from Dominican republic, so i' m Baltimore ravens fan, because it's Def. so like Spurs Are. that said, i watched some games of flacco's at Delaware, and most of all you have to count with intangibles, and for football players it mean all, and flacco have it, he is calm and poised, he's not prone to commit turn overs, and mostly and most important he knows when to hold on the ball and not to throw it the the other team. out of this draft i could compare him and Ryan in the make up process and the development of plays, so it's not that hard do learn how to recognize a cover 2, cover 3 or 4 man deep, i think, and i might be the only in this forum to recognize the smart level of joe flacco, he's way to smart than you think, and he loves the others sees him that way, so he can give you a surprise, looking at others QB on this league with some experience, at NFL flacco is years away from they because his intangibles, he know how to lead a receiver, pick apart defenses, he's accurate danm good, more than you think, not on the long routes, but in the shorts he's a killer, does'n matter to take 6 to 7 minutes to score a touchdown if anyway you score it, and kill the opposing def with short routes, in the process, but if they intent to bring 8 or 9 guys to the box and play zones, they will pay the price you could count with it, i don't know flacco , but looking at people face you know how his mind is going, that said, flacco face look like a mathematician boy, who loves to study and to solve problems, like manning face, like brady face, like bulger face, like Einstein face, like many others, improvement on the field only come from studying opposing defs, he knew that some day he would be against some nfl defense, so he's not studying videos from this year, other things, happen in every game so you dont have to worry about, beacause many of the best QB EVER couldn't prevent some things happen on the field, so flacco either.

Good Luck Flacco

And Ravens fans

Enjoy the Ride
let's the season begins

I'll say under. I wouldn't be surprised if it were close. 13 or 14 TD's wouldn't shock me at all, but I don't think he'll go over 15.

There's no way he's going to throw that many INTs. I doubt it's very common for any quarterback to throw that many interceptions in a season.

anyone who thinks the flacco is going to throw more than 6 td's is a homer... lets be realistic, we dont even know if he will start the WHOLE season

That's true but after he throws for 2 in each of the first 3 games, the job is his.

That's still a lot of picks, though.

I feel as if he'll be a gunslinger this first season, trying to force throws that aren't there; he'll be lucky on some attempts, but not so lucky on others.

I won't go so far as to say he'll cost the team some games, but there'll be times where a lead might be blown because of some risky throws -- and Flacco will learn from them, no matter what. He'll have no choice but to learn from them.

Then consider me a homer.

And I'll even go so far as to say Joe Flacco will be the starting QB for the Ravens for all of 2008; he'll take his lumps, and he'll deal with them. We'll grow on him as he grows with them.

If he throws 6 touchdowns in the first game, then I'll selfishly consider myself Flacco's good luck charm since I'll be at the game. :P

And you'll all NEVER hear the end of it!!!!

That's why I consider my 15-pick prediction to be a little conservative. This is assuming that Flacco isn't asked to air it out as often as those guys were, and that McGahee/Rice will take the majority of the offensive load as Tomlinson/Turner did in San Diego.

I don't see Flacco playing the whole season, I think Troy Smith will be ready by week 3 if not sooner. But I feel Flacco might throw 2 TD's in this game, one to Heap and one to D-Mas.(If Joe plays the season through I say he throws 19 TD's and 12 INT's).

Over or Under

offense ranked 15th

(over means better and under means worse, obviously)
Running offense: Over
Passing offense: Even
Overall offense: Over (barely)

It won't look like much at first, but the overall offense will probably finish anywhere between 13th to 18th, is my feeling. The unit will obviously have its growing pains, but again, they'll overcome those pains by the end of the season, particularly when we start to separate the contenders from the pretenders.

Overall Offense, which is measured by YPG, I say Under but barely (around 17th or 18th)...

Rushing Offense: Over
Passing Offense: Under

I am hoping we limit Joe's attempts to 20 or less per game, sort of like what they did in Pitt w/ Roethlisberger. We need him to just manage games by handing the ball off and hitting check downs if the routes are covered; by no means should he be forcing throws.

For Flacco I'm going over. I'm going to assume he does well enough to keep the starting job.

Running Game - Over
Passing Game - Over

Once Flacco gets used to the regular season he should become better. It is crucial that our offense does not have injuries. Our tackles could get injured again and McGahee's knee is still suspect IMO. Here's hoping for the best!

If he does start throwing for a lot of TDs. Which the Raven fans have yet to see from any QB. Then I say have him throw all he wants. As long as he manages 1 TD a game then I say throw the hell outta the ball.
