Owners & Players Agree On Rookie Wage Scale And Salary Cap

3 posts in this topic
More than four months after the first report came out that an agreement was reached on a rookie wage scale, an agreement was reached on the rookie wage scale.

Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first one to get the news out, and multiple reporters followed shortly thereafter. Schefter said that some “t’s” had to be crossed and some “i’s” dotted, but the issue is no longer in the way of an agreement in principle between the owners.

NFL owners reportedly compromised on year five money for rookies. The players gave a little on some renegotiation rules, according to Albert Breer. This is easily the biggest breakthrough in talks in weeks.
And from Mort's twitter:
mortreport Chris Mortensen
John Clayton reports salary cap will be $120 million for 2011, plus $21 million in benefits per club

Clayton also reports there are discussions for a player exemption up to $3 mill this yr. Cap of $120m down from $128m in 2009.
Here are the salary cap figures for last year if anyone wanted to know:

was posted in Raven talk section, but it deserves its own thread.

Great news.

I’m sure things have sped up. Goodell can’t wait to get the lockout ended so he can suspend Harrison.

I had heard mentions in regard to the salary cap for the impending season, but not about the rookie wage scale. I am happy that said rookie wage scale has been set, maybe we'll see a settlement soon.
