Steelers Just Won't Shut Up.

If they get Ray talking about the game like the Jets managed to last year then they could be in trouble. Ray has an uncanny knack for walking the walk after talking the talk.

The funniest thing I heard all week was when some guy posted that Hines will be dancing behind bars when the season starts. LOL!

Yea and if it wasn't, the media will definitely hype it up enough during week 1 to make it bulletin board material.

The Ravens don't need that material, as both team really get up for these games. However I'm sure a guy like Mason will be sure to remind Woodley and Clark about their comments after a TD.

We might even see a little more fire out of Joe because of all the talk directed towards him in that game.

He has a lot to prove this year.

Let's beat the crap out of them in our two regular season games and they will shut up for sure. One way to shut somebody up is to show up and give them a beating where it matters. There is a reason this adage has stood the test of time - 'talk is cheap'!

Apparently, his exchange with Ray Rice over the weekend wasn't enough. Steelers safety Ryan Clark had this to say, among other things, on a Pittsburgh radio show today:

I can't wait for Week 1.
What he said is true, how can it be a rivalry if the Ravens don't win. The rare few times the Ravens have won, it took a Roethlisberger injury or suspension.

Riiiiigghhtt...... Cause the crazy intensity and close games mean nothing towards the rivalry that is the Ravens/Steelers.

Hmm. Since 2006, the series is 7-5 in favor of Pittsburgh. Yep, not even AT ALL. Good call.

i can see both sides of the argument honestly. This rivalry would be even more crazy than it already is if it were even and one year we would bounce them and the next year they got us, and we traded SB spots and so on and so forth, but to say that these games are rivalries to begin with is just ignorant, maybe that is why he will be remembered as the....... Oh wait he wont be.

Think what you want your opinion does not matter bottom line is people love watching these two teams play against each other. We know the Ravens are going to be fired up and we know the Steelers are going to come with the same intensity. The only reason Clark opened his mouth about this was because Rice went after Hines on the DUI charge. If Rice and Clark didn’t battle it out on Twitter Clark would never of made that comment.

The Ravens Steelers rivalry is just like the Colts Patriots. Those 2 teams always look forward to playing each other, even though the Patriots won way more then the Colts.

The Patriots was that one team the Colts couldn't get by, to get to the Super Bowl.

Some Patriots players have even been on record as saying they went into those games vs the Colts with the confidence that the Colts just couldn't beat them.

So it sounds a lot like the Steelers, even if the Ravens beat them twice in the regular season, blowing them out both times, the Steelers probably will still have the confidence that we couldn't beat them in the Playoffs. And I wouldn't be surprised to hear them continue to talk.

As much as we do not like it, he is right. The Steelers may be our hated enemy and our biggest rival, but we are not theirs. And just because we keep the games close is meaningless. Close just means we are tough for them to beat, not that they cannot beat us. Sad but true. I am hoping that we change that this year. They are great games, to watch, but they still often beat us.

He isn't right.

If the Ravens aren't Steelers' biggest rival, who is?

Dismissing close games as "meaningless" makes little sense either. Most rivalries in any sport consist of tightly-played games.

And you know this to be true how? Because they've beaten us in the playoffs the last couple years? The Ravens/Steelers Rivalry goes back much farther then Ryan Clark, or Joe Flacco, or Lamar Woodley, or LeRon McClain.

From Joey Porter trying to get on the Ravens Bus to fight Ray Lewis. To James Trapp stomping on Plaxico. From Porter's cheap shot on Todd Heap, to Bart Scott blowing Big Ben up. Hines Ward big hit on Ed Reed, Ray Lewis breaking Mendenhall's shoulder.

This rivalry is about more then just wins and losses. The right to talk and brag might come down to wins and losses but the overall Rivalry doesn't. You have guys like Shannon Sharpe and Goose, who jumped into the Rivalry head first, even though they came to the Ravens as Free Agents. You got guys like Rod Woodson and Kordell Steward who got booed just for crossing over to the other sides.

You got guys who come from other teams who admit that they've never played in a game like the Ravens vs Steelers games.

The Steelers might have an upper hand in the win column over the last 3 years, but that doesn't put an end to the Rivalry. True Rivalries don't just stop and start up again. Oh you guys have beaten up like 7 out of 10 times, so we'll just regroup and try again later. No that doesn't happen. It's a true Rivalry. Ray Lewis doesn't hate James Harrison. Hines Ward doesn't hate Terrel Suggs, Ray Rice doesn't hate Casey Hampton, Ngata doesn't hate Miller. Why do I say that? Just look at how they interact with each other during the pro bowls.

It's not about the hatred for individual players within the Rivalry, it's the hatred for the Jerseys and what they stand for. Long after everyone involved in this year's rivalry, it will still go on.

It's like Ohio State vs Michigan. The overall record could be like 38-12 in favor of one of those teams, but you can believe when they meet it won't matter.

Some Rivalries are made out of wins, losses and Championships, much like the Colts vs Pats.

Others are made from the Geography and the closeness of the teams, Like the Battle of the Beltway.

Others are just born. Why, because two teams mirror each other some much that they hate it. Strip away the jerseys and color's from the fan base and you wouldn't be able to tell which team was which.

The Ravens and Steelers isn't about wins and losses, it's about each individual game being a war. Who's gonna take the other teams heart, will, and want to? Who's gonna hit the hardest, who's gonna make the other team tap out by running the ball down their throats. Who's QB will get hit the hardest. How many of your guys will be forced to leave the game.

The Ravens had the same type of Rivalry with the Tennessee Titans before we were moved to the North division. If we were still in the AFC Central we'd still have that smash mouth Rivalry with the Titans.

Back in the Central, the Jaguars was a Rivalry based on wins and losses. Thats a team that the Ravens enjoyed beating because it didn't happen often. Those guys torched up, and forced us to draft CBs in the first round back to back years. But as much as we didn't like the Jaguars they were nothing like the Titans.

The same can be said now with the Colts. As much as we hate the Colts, and some of us more then others, we only hate them as strongly as we do now because we can't seem to get past them.

If the Ravens beat the Colts at home this year, and then go on to win the Super Bowl in their stadium, I can promise you that this question will be asked..........Is it time to bury the hatchet with the Colts? Or Is it time to move on? Why? Because that's a hatred for one Man/Family.

The Steelers Rivalry is different because it will never be over. The faces will change but the meaning of the games will stay the same. The only way a dent will be placed in this Rivalry is if the NFL decides to split the two teams up in different division.

If you share the same thoughts and feeling of Ryan Clark, that's cool. But there is no denying that this is a Rivalry. And one of the best in the NFL at that.

Ummm... someone PLEASE give me a rivalry in ANY sport where both sides have won the exact same amount?!?! ANYONE? PLEASE, GIVE ME ONE EXAMPLE!

One side is ALWAYS going to have more wins. If it's tied up, guess what... the next time they play, it won't be tied anymore!

As someone with some sense already stated... if you go back to 2006... the record between the Ravens and Steelers is 7-5 in favor of the Steelers. That's pretty close. And if the Steelers don't consider the Ravens a rival, they sure are spending a lot of time talking about them. I don't hear them talking about any other team. Not the Browns, no the Bengals... and I'm not sure what team out of the division could be a rival since they have lost to a different team in the playoffs each time they've been eliminated in recent years. Just because the Ravens happened to win the games without Roethlisberger doesn't mean anything. It's not their fault the Steelers QB decided to ride motorcycles or do whatever he does in bathrooms. Just like it's not the Ravens fault if Hines Ward gets suspended for getting arrested, or if Joey Porter gets suspended for conduct detrimental to his team or the league.

Do people still consider Army vs. Navy a rivalry? I think they do. Maryland vs. Duke? Yep, even Duke players/coaches/fans have admitted they consider the Terps a rival even though they also have in-state rivals with UNC.

I think you meant James Harrison, but I can see how you'd get those 2 mixed up. They both played that role as the crazy Steelers OLB that would say or do anything.

I'm still confused over this comment. If We aren't their rival than who is? Seriously these guys are bored out of their minds and need something to keep them busy. IMO Ravens/ Steelers is THE rivalry to watch at all times.

Anyone from Pitt or Balt knows how lucky the steelers have been the past few seasons.Look at last year for instance.
Game vs Miami.Ben does not cross the goal line but refs are so busy calling TD they dont even notice miami recover the fumble. So they get the ball back to win with a FG.How about the Bills game in overtime Bills no.1 WR drops a TD pass what the heck?
Not saying steelers are not a good team but they have had incredable luck.

Usually my feelings would echo those of your own about the ravens-steelers games. But this year I feel something different. I feel like Flacco is about to shut everyone up this game. I feel like he's really focused and driven this offseason.

I feel like we will come out like we did in that divisional game but this time keep our foot on the gas.

Just saw how many times I said "I feel like"...summer is rotting my diction.

We all know the Stealers go through a slump every few yrs (like other teams do,its a given).

I think this is the Stealers yr to fail , especially with all their crap they are going through off the field. And if we do Sweep them you know dam will be using that excuse. Stealer fans are nervous, trust me. I think the Browns are going to be more of a dog match then them to be quite honest with you.

IM 99.99% Sure we will sweep the Stealers this yr, its just a gut feeling. Im hoping im right so we can put the haters to rest.
