Steelers Just Won't Shut Up.

211 posts in this topic

Apparently, his exchange with Ray Rice over the weekend wasn't enough. Steelers safety Ryan Clark had this to say, among other things, on a Pittsburgh radio show today:
"People try to make this game between the Ravens and the Steelers like so much of a rivalry, of a fight, you know," Clark told KDKA-FM in Pittsburgh. "You can say it's a rivalry if you like but for something to be a rivalry I think both teams have to win equally. The hate between the fans doesn't make it a rivalry. Teams have to win equally and that really hasn't been the case in our situation."

Thats a little bold of him to say, we may have lost games against them, but they've always been close. Too close. I can't wait for our boys to knock em out.

They just keep feeding the Ravens more things to get them to work even harder...please keep them coming...then after week 1 we will see who's talking.

*yawn*

Another Steelers running his mouth? What else is new. At least James Harrison makes it interesting by talking trash on his own team. Ryan Clark just apparently doesn't know what a football rivalry really is. Ignorance must be contagious in that locker room.

Two things, and as much as I love the Raven's I can't and none of you can when you look at his comment about win's and disagree. it is 21-12 slide towards the steeler's and you can say what you want but until that number is a little closer than we really can;t say anything about it.

Now if you want to get mad about his comment's sure go ahead, but honestly it does nothing because unless our player's are getting mad and doing same thing about it then we are going to be talking about the same thing next year.

However the only thing that makes me laugh is that if you are going to say something like this tehn should you not at least be a contributor to the championship not somebody that holds a spot, If ben, woodley, harrison, hampton, timmons, hines, wallace etc.... any of thsoe guys tehn i would have been like well damn they got us. But for clark to say it I just cant help but laugh at him.

Now all of that being said I would love for us to come out swinging in week one and take it to these ****, and not just beat them but destroy these punks.

GO RAVENS!!! :argdancingravensblueonwkk8:

Uh... Clarks' been a starter for the Steelers the past three years. He's not "holding a spot".

Dear Mr Clark,
If you would be kind enough to show me ANY NFL rivalry throughout history that ENDED equally? 46-46? 27-27? I am not saying there is not one but seriously man...

The Steelers currently have an 18-12 edge in the regular season if I'm not mistakened, and here's an idea man, current rivalries are ONGOING, what a mind blower huh? That edge is going to even out really soon buddy, you probably will be too old and slow and therefore likely not even a part of this rivalry by the time we take the lead in the next few seasons. But hey, at least you'll be there to see the tide turn when passes are sailing over your head this season. See you week 1.

Signed,
Aaron

It saddens me that we, at this present moment, cannot truly turn around and respond without getting petty. All we can say is that not recently have they thoroughly beaten us, we always seem to be within a decision or a play from victory, so it's not nearly as one-sided as he seems to believe.

Nothing in football would please me more than dumping them unceremoniously from the playoffs on the way to a Superbowl win, preferably at our place for once.

I wonder how many people around the country still feel that the Steelers will be better than us next year and get us again on opening day. The media is up there a**es and expect nothing to change. But change is coming, and EVERYONE will find that out soon.

Yeah and so had Bryant McFadden and we all know how awesome he is. He is such a solid contributor that if you go outside the AFCN nobody knows his name.

Hasn't another player said this already?

Oh, it wasn't a Steeler, it was Tom Brady last time. I wonder if Clark would agree that his team and NE have no rivalry.

That said, at the very least, Pitt and Baltimore are divisional rivals and that isn't going to change anytime soon.

until we beat them in a meaningful game, they can talk all they want.

cant wait for week 1.
That's fine but talking doesn't win you games. You play the game on the field, not with your mouths. Jets did the same thing last year before the week 1 game against us and we went out on the field and won.

That's meaningless. There are dozens of solid, good, and even great players around the league that most fans aren't aware of.

Did I mention McFadden anywhere in my post? Did I even put the part where you brought him up in bold? I don't think so.

The topic and conversation was about Ryan Clark. He's a solid player, and fans not knowing much about him doesn't mean he's any less of a player.

That said, I hope he gets trucked or gives up a TD come Week 1.

Nope you sure didnt but that was the context of the conversation, at least the one you commented on.

And to say he is solid you must watch a lot of steeler's game because I honestly cant think of more than 1 play where I was like wow that guy is good. I sure seen him get burnt a lot though.

And that's why I put what I was responding to specifically in bold.

I don't need to watch a lot of Steelers games to call Clark solid. With that said, the Steeler are frequently in prime time and I've obviously seen Clark whenever the Ravens and Steelers have tangled since '06. Pittsburgh wouldn't have kept him around for as long as they have if he wasn't less than solid. You may not have seen him make more than one impressive play but I have.

maybe you are easily impressed, I am not sure. But McFadden sucks and yet he is a starter. Frank Walker started a game for us, Tony Moll had started for us. So did Boller and Grbac and yeah they were all solid as we all know. Just because they start or people keep them around does not mean they are good it is a sign of lack of options for some people.

Let the running on-field do the work, not the running of the mouths in-media.

That said... I hope we embarrass them so bad that they don't even want to show up to the next game.

You're right; I'm probably easily impressed.

This "debate" is going nowhere. Obviously, there are examples where teams have started inadequate players, for extended periods of times too. I don't believe Clark is one those players. If you do, fair enough. I'm not going to waste a lot of time trying to convince you otherwise.

You guys can't honestly expect arch-rivals (the best rivalry, at that) to keep their mouths shut, can you? That's just not realistic. Trash talk here is expected and encouraged. Lets keep this fire blazin! This is a war of pride between cities, people! There's gonna be battles both on and off the field.

And as always...

I hope the Steelers keep talking.

The Jets did the exact same thing last season, and we shoved the words right in their mouth.

Its not like the Ravens needed extra motivation to show up for this game, why are you giving them so much of it?

We have to just face the fact that until we get a legitimate win over Pittsburgh with Roethlisberger at the helm, they have the ammunition to fire at us. Even then though im sure they'll attribute it to some fluke or one individual had a bad game.....is it Sept 11th yet?
