Yeah here;s another shot. You sir and your logic is laughable, I totally made those number's up. I conjured them up as a figment of my imagination and they have no basis in fact, I could totally see where you got that accusation from, let me take this opportunity to laugh, it is ok though I am laughing with you.

Second off I know you are not going to blame our current depth and success at Wr is a knock on TJ's talent. If we had the receiving corps we had last year Clayton would have been lucky to pull out the 4th receiver slot, and when he did it would have been end arounds which Stalls was better at anyway.

Now look at the competition that he had in St. Louis, Danny Amendola are you kidding me, yeah he would not have made our roster and that was their number 2 guy. This is awfully similar to when Housh went to the Seahawks and a crappy team. He still put up 900 yard's that season, and look at the schedule from those years.

And you can sit here and say oh well he was on pace to do this or that and he would have had way more than 900 yards blah, blah, blah, but he didn't did he?

And let's not pretend that if Housh and Clayton were on the same team that Clayton would be the starter. And if you are going ot say he is injured than what are you going off of, because in every year that Housh has played he has dominated Clayton in the stat column.

So how about you try again I am waiting to read this ....

Speaking of Danny Amendola, he caught 69% of the passes thrown his way. Clayton caught 54%, barely edging out Danario Alexander for third on his own team.

Awesome.

We interrupt this thread with a public sevice announcement.

It appears that tempers are getting a little hot here. Please remember that we're only "discussing ideas", we're not arguing with each other. We're (mostly) all diehard Ravens fans, so let us treat each other kindly.

Thank you.

Apologies, although I don't think anyone is getting mad, lol.

To be fair, Danny Amendola's percentage was good for 2nd in the league, only 1.5% shy of the NFL leader in this category, Wes Welker. In addition, according to PFF, 19% of his targets were thrown behind the LOS, and 64% of his targets were from 0-9 yards, both good for 2nd the league as well. Given that only Wes Welker saw more targets thrown under 10 yards, there is a bit of a correlation, since it's likely that their shorter routes are designed to have higher percentage completion rates. I personally don't see how this lone number should demean how solid of a season Clayton was on pace for. Larry Fitzgerald would've been 5th among the group in this category, while other known commodities such as Miles Austin and Calvin Johnson would've been 3rd as well.

I've never hated Clayton. The man never lived up to his first round billing, but for what it's worth, he was at least a solid contributor. Between Housh and Clayton, I've much rather have had Clayton's youth and speed over Housh, no offense to TJ. But between Stallworth and Williams, it's Donte without a doubt. Williams really didn't do much of anything beside rack up a nice little list of injuries, and then went on to further not do much of another with Cleveland.

While I realize Clayton is a below average receiver, that we traded for essentially nothing, I think he would have helped the team more than Housh. We already had two possession receivers in Boldin and Mason. Housh didn't provide a deep threat that Clayton *may* have been able to provide in the slot. I think he could have done better in the slot than the outside. He still wouldn't be spectacular, but he might've been an average slot guy.

i always felt we should have used Clayton in the slot more, once it became apparent he wasn't starting material.

I never was a big Clayton supporter but I will say two things....
1. Clayton did play better than our other 1st round WR Travis Taylor, so that's semi-positive lol
2. I felt that Clayton would have been a better option than Stallworth... Their career stats are similar regardless of Stallworth's "track speed" he had/has or whatever...

But none of that stuff matters since Cam Cameron would have called the same bonehead plays lol....

That's why I was looking forward to seeing him play the 3rd and 4th Wr spot this yr behind MAson and Bolden because I always felt he could do better catching underneath routes with nickel backs covering him... Like Quick Slants, drag routes.... But at claytons size with his lack of breakup away speed, we couldn't have him dropping passes like he did 2 yrs ago

That's why I said the QUESTION is pointless.. It imposes a decision that includes Williams when the equivalent would have been to say Kelly Washington...

He dropped two or three passes all season.
