I could be in the running for #1 Cam basher but I have to say that we can't judge Cam by one preseason game. I'd bash him prolifically if he had shown his hand and called a rock 'em sock 'em game. Preseason is not when you do that. It is all about evaluating your talent. So right now, I'd have to say it is way too early to pass judgement on Cam this season.

I thought I should resurrect this thread. So after a few weeks of training camp and a pre-season loss, how do you think Cam's doing guys? Is he better, the same or worse?

Please be honest with your opinions and don't just bash Cam for the sake of bashing Cam (which can be entertaining I'll admit:) )

Can't judge off of 1 preseason game, where he's not going to call anything creative anyway.

While I wanted his head at the end of last season, I've rethought my position a bit.

He called textbook plays to beat the cover 2, but we had personnel issues that couldn't execute. Our line wasn't good enough in run blocking to open holes, and our receivers couldn't get separation across the middle (since they were playing the cover 2) or go deep (since they were all slow possession guys).

He's had 2 good years and 1 bad one. He didn't have any creative answer for our issues last season, but his playcalling was correct from a theoretical standpoint. I think he deserves the chance he's getting.

hopefully, Cam will utilize Lee Evans, Torrey Smith, Tandon Doss, Ed Dickson, Dennis Pitta, Ray Rice, Vonta Leach and Ricky Williams in the right ways so that our offense can consistently and effective move the chains and put up more TDs than FGs this season.

Well according to harbaugh he is going to be giving input on the offensive playcalling. So technically we should bash harbaugh too if the offense is like it was last year. Only time will tell if Cam has changed his stripes or the addittion of harbaughs input will make a difference.

i thought this thread had died sometime between the end of last season and summer..but i guess it rises back from the dead with the new season upon us

I think Cam takes a lot of the blame but really the OL should be taking most of the blame, they're the reason there is no push off the ball and no wholes to run through, they are the reason Joe has to make check downs or make those quick throws to the outside on comeback routes..or at least he did with Mason here...If the OL performed better the offense as a whole would and then Cam wouldnt be taking so much heat

So where is the OL bashing thread?

It's easy to change tangible things than changing the perception of a person. Cam today is the same Cam yesterday. This is his last year in my book.

PS: I know my understanding of football is very little, but I know what Cam's playcalling is going to be.

Cam has been soaked in oriticalism, some adding value, others focus blame. Last year's evalation is complete, therefore, we must prepare to mentally and physically move onward.

Cam/the Ravens should focus on securing expected, borderline and stealing a few upsets. Then, I'm fine. The competition is less familiar to me this year. Many teams seem to have undergone key changes, possibly posing more challenges. Let's see. Should be interesting.

Hopefully, the HC/OC communications will be streamlined without interferenc or delays at critical times. Harboraugh and Cam may periodically compliment oneanother, like second-oppinion. The comment you make is less straightforward; since, Cam's responsibility may still be delegated and made independently. The communications may be consulting/advice with Harboraugh, and Cam still maintaining the expertise. Of course, i's always important never to micro-manage. My tak is allow the organization to perform unfeterred; unless, a blatant arror(s) is seen and requires immediate correction. Or if Cam calls for input. These two or the entire staff should be well-aware of eachothers' strengths and game knowledge. Th presence of the coach, itself can be instrumental in winning the game. Harboraugh improved last year in this regard, very supportive and stronger persona.

That'd be me

But I didn't see much different things in our offense. The only added wrinkle was the WR run option screen, or whatever it is

Granted he's not exactly had a receiving corps that would make most NFL teams lose any sleep, but it was up to him to make adjustments that would best utilize the personel he had. This season should be his last if he does'nt step it up. Someone has to be the scape goat and IMO Cam's really stood out as the main reason. We are closer than most "experts" think, but he better show some new wrikles. We'll know more when we see the final 46 man roster and the real season begins to play out.
