Yep, next week should be very, very exciting. Lots of names changing teams, big contracts, trades, cuts.

With all the news that's going to be happening over the next couples weeks, for the first time I'm going to be happy I don't have a job so I can be glued to my computer, my PS3 making Roster Changes on Madden 11 based upon Free Agency, and this Board so I can discuss everything.

Sounds like Tom Brady, Vincent Jackson, Logan Mankins, and Peyton Manning are the reason why this deal isn't getting done.... If the CBA doesn't get signed because of those 4, I will have a serious problem with those 4 players.

The Brady 10 we'll settle that issue soon enough.

Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and the other 8 plaintiffs were just a part of the original lawsuit. Now that a new CBA is close, they'll settle that issue.

So what does that mean? Are you saying that their lawsuits were with the original CBA and their demands change with the new CBA? Or will these lawsuits not be settled unless they meet the demands of the settlements?

There isn't much in question other than the franchise tag. That's what some of them are looking to settle with.

Peyton Manning and Drew Brees are seeking that they can never be placed with the franchise tag. Mankins and Jackson are exacerbating the issue by demanding 10M or be allowed to be free agents.

Apparently this isn't too far fetched because in 1993 when the antitrust lawsuit was settled, all the lead plaintiffs were exempt from the tag for their careers. My link

So I wouldn't be surprised to see these 10 guys get exempt from the franchise tag. Since Brady, Brees and Manning are among some of the top paid athletes in the league, the incentive isn't extremely great.

Apparently now the NFLPA is saying they won't be asking for any special compensation for the Brady 10. That this suit will not be a holdup for any pending deal.

Brady down, Manning, Jackson, and Mankins to go. Even though Mankins and Jackson are saying that people are fabricating their demands. So if thats the case then I don't know what they want.

Also, is this the final issue that is being handled?

Reps leaving from voting? I hope so...if its passed by the owners tomorrow, I expect Ozzie to be on the phone with Yanda's agent tomorrow night after he's briefed on the new agreement. Let's go Oz, show us that deft manuevering of the free market we know and love so well. I'm sure he's already had preliminary talks with all of the relevant agents.

Is the NFLPA going back to negotiating like children after all the work they've gotten done in the past couple of weeks?

It's pretty much a done deal. I'm surprised that the players didn't sign off on the new CBA today.

Wow, awesome....as I said on the news thread a minute ago, this is gonna look really bad for the players in the public's eye is the owners do wind up agreeing on their end before the players. Whatever, just get it done and quit stalling, we've been doing that for, oh just a few years now...

As if I need another reason to hate Brady.

All signs point to today being the day...

Yeah dude I agree..... it feels like we're not even on step 1 again..... it feels like we're just starting the lockout deal process all over again, like the lockout just started.

The owners have the players over a barrel, fans aren't going to see anything other than their holding up the deal. If they continue this it's going to turn ugly for them. Wrong or right the public will turn on them quick.

I'm not quite sure why they had public support in the first place.

I think both parties' initial demands were outrageous, but the owners have been MUCH more willing to negotiate through this whole process. Now its showing, too.

Well depends what you say much more willing to negotiate. Because apparently the owners think they can just slip in things in the fine print and tell the players to sign...

I wish this whole process wasn't so messy. To the average football fan, they don't even notice, but to us, it really disappoints me as a fan. Not like that means anything, but it just goes to show how messy money and politics are.
