I tend to agree with what a few others have said, namely, we will see an agreement sometime this week, so I rate this as an eight.

I'm hearing reports that the HOF Game may not be played and now I'm hearing Sunday July 17th is the new target date for a CBA, not Friday.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/12/july-17-emerges-as-target-for-the-announcement-of-a-deal/

I guess that is your Daily Lockout Update of the Day. Wait... Here is what Albert Breer posted on Twitter:
"I'm told it's been a productive two days here. Constructive approach. They're closing out language on necessary elements of potential deal."
I hear the 17th, the 21st and this friday. I still think it becomes a midnight deal. I'm still sticking with my guns and say it drags on into half the preseason. Agreeing to general terms is one thing but ironing out the tidbits could be a drag.

All these dates are getting to me, because its like I hear one date and get all happy and than out of nowhere it's another date. The latest now is that the CBA is "likely to be completed" somewhere between Friday and Tuesday.

I feel like if enough of us commit crimes and prove Ray Lewis' theory correct, maybe that will influence the CBA to get done... I'm just trying to do my part to get this done... I call dibs on <urinating> on James Harrison. Bet Goodell would be willing to give the NFLPA what they want if that happened.

I would give it a 6 for this week. I would give it a 9 for next week and it will be ratified at the owners' meeting on the 21st or 22nd...

They would be hurting da sports betting industry dragging this out. Las vegas has people to ensure at least half a season or replacements.....

For Once, 2 Positive CBA News Articles in one day. Earlier it was reported that the league and owners made huge progress toward a rookie scale and now according to PFT a Rookie Scale has been AGREED Upon. Yes, for the first time in months the League and NFLPA actually agree on something.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/14/rookie-wage-scale-is-done/

We have HOPE!!!

I think both sides are looking at the calendar and the money they could eventually lose, and they're starting to cave in to compromise haha. Pressure tends to do that to the best of minds. But yeah, progress is definitely being made!

Yep, so it seems the July 15th date might be correct. Now I'm hearing that things are on a "fast track" and a new deal could be in place within 24-48 hours.

I hope it's 24 hours because I would love to wake up tomorrow, read the headline "New CBA in place; Free Agency Begins at Midnight."

Yeah, according to a great, reputable source, and on Espn.com, the owners and players are extremely close to getting a deal done now that the major issue is behind them. It states that an unexpected surge of momentum has taken place, and within 24-48 hours, you can expect a deal.

lol you know what I mean lol. I'll probably wake up like 9 or 10, and have my computer on PFT, Albert Breer's twitter all day lol until I see the headline "CBA Done. Free Agency Begins at Midnight." I don't know if the NFL would allow Free Agency to happen right away but I can hope right?

Even when it is "official", I believe I have heard that free agency will most likely begin 5-7 days afterwards. Sorry JO75!

I know that but I just got excited about a new deal and at this point Free Agency needs to happen right away so teams can prepare for training camp with Free Agents in Camp, not start camp while signing players.

According to this link, the CBA deal may be agreed to as early as today. Signs are definitely looking positive. I'd give it a 90% chance of getting done this week, and 99% next week. I don't see any Preseason games getting touched, except perhaps the Hall of Fame game.

Albert Breer has tweeted that the major issues left to get done is the litigation settlement, player safety and off season issues(Free Agency)

http://twitter.com/#!/albertbreer

So No CBA done today.

Dang, what did they do?? Have a pizza party all day because they finally agreed on something?? The remaining issues shouldn't take more than a day to complete IMO. They are just stretching it out till next week so there can be a dramatic end. It'll get done, but I'm willing to bet there will be more drama involved than is needed in order to get ratings up.

Free Agency issues have been worked out!!!!! One step much, much closer to getting a deal done. Score another victory for the players. Smith sure was smart by getting that insurance stuff done, otherwise we would still be at a stalemate most likely.

Another hurdle cleared. I can't believe the owners wanted some first right of refusal, as much as I would like to keep players like Gaither, Yanda, McClain or whomever through that rule, it did seem stupid. At least there is a 72 Hour window for teams to negotiate with their own players to give teams a chance to keep their own players.

I must admit, even I believe that they are close to getting this lockout finished. And I must be the greatness pessimist. I thought this season was done. Don’t mind being wrong on this one. Let the games begin!!!

Negotiation meetings have wrapped up for today, and it may have been the last one between owners and players for good. According to PFT, the dress was casual and the mood was positive and light today, which to me, says that the two sides were just going in to finalize things and agree secretly to a deal. The fact that there are no more face to face meetings only speaks that even more louder and clearer. This thing looks like a done deal to me, but I guess they're going to keep the agreement down low until Boylan has his meetings, since he told them to keep progress as confidential as possible.

John Clayton also said that he expects Free Agency to begin on July 25th.

Don't want to burst your bubble, but I just read Owners & Players will meet on Monday & Tuesday and there are other issues that will be discussed before this is all finalized.

- Players want $320 Billion in lost Benefits from the 2010 Season

- Players also want Franchise Tag to be used on a Single Player only Once

- Workman's Compensation is an issue.

Source: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/16/report-owners-players-will-meet-monday-after-all/

My Thoughts: Players, Players, Players. Now we are so close to a deal, now the players are being so damn greedy... what would be considered "lost benefits" from last year, and Franchise Tag only being used once I can see, but I hope the Owners push for 2 with that player being able to Hit Free Agency(without teams stopping it) and test the market are being Franchised Twice. Workman's comp???

I have heard about how players got reduction of OTA's and off-season practices, but they also want to eliminate "two-a-days" and have less contact drills during Training Camp. So it seems the Owners really caved in big time to get this deal done.

Best Part... It's 10 Year deal so we won't have to worry about this until 2021.

It seems Free Agency may be delayed by a couple days, as now it is being reported the 3 Day Window for signing your own Free Agents, Drafted Rookies and Undrafted Rookies will begin July 25th with Thursday July 28th being the day Free Agency begins!

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/07/18/report-exclusive-window-could-open-july-25-free-agency-july-28/

Oh man, Free Agency on top of the rush to sign undrafted Free Agents and Drafted Rookies... we are going to have a very eventful several weeks.
