Poll On NFL.com

4 posts in this topic

Just found a discussion at NFL.com about the best offensive linemen of the Y2K era. Steve Wyche gives the nod to our own JO. Some other guy thinks it's Walter Jones. lol

As of now, Ogden is leading Jones by 20% in the voting. It also has the video of JO from the top 100 players of all time. Strahan was great in that video!

Edit: You can also vote for Ray as best LB and Reed as best safety.

Jones was an phenomenal player but I'd take Ogden just because he was a Raven.

As for the article, Ellio Harrison's argument against Ogden is pretty weak. It wasn't J.O.'s fault the Ravens had trouble finding a quality QB from '00 to '07(and before that as well). If it's truly a player comparison, why aren't stats like sacks and pressures allowed talked about?

Both were phenomenal players, but here's a few stats which I believe tip it in JO's favor.

Jonathan Ogden: 11 (consecutive) Pro Bowls; 9 time All Pro; Sporting News' Team of the Decade; A Superbowl ring (not all down to JO but rings do count).

Walter Jones: 9 Pro Bowls, 7 time All Pro.

Both were named to the NFL 2000's All-Decade team.

The Pro Bowl was the Jonathan Ogden Invitation for most of the 2000s. JO didn't have the great supporting cast that Jones had, too. JO is still the only Ravens OL to be voted to the Pro Bowl.
