I picked up the game last night and I'm satisfied with my purchase, but I can see where I'd hate the game if I had bought NCAA 11 last year. I've played NCAA 11 at my buddy's house plenty of times and the two games do feel awfully similar. However, I like the improvements to Dynasty Mode, especially in the way of recruitment. The gameplay feels solid and the Home Field Advantage does make a difference when using a younger player.

My biggest gripe thus far has been the clunky user interface and slow load speeds. I played the 360 version in the store and I thought it was exclusive to that console, but I had the same problem with my PS3 copy, too.
What improvements to recruiting? I really haven't noticed any ways that it's different from 10 and 11.

Aside from the freezing I've had and slow loading, I'm content as well. The new animations and better tackling is fantastic, it makes the game feel more fluid. Although ball carriers seem to break free of tackles more often now. Not many of my favorite plays are as successful in 12, which I do like. Play action is much more useful to me, although I'm still struggling a bit on the defensive side right now. Namely in passing defense, it seems like there's always one receiver who slips behind my coverage to get open. If they kept track of passes of 20 yards or more allowed, I'd probably lead the nation in my Dynasty...

Bear in mind, the last game I bought was 10 and I didn't own 11 but played only a little bit of it. The recruiting is a bit more streamlined and it's not so difficult to land a decent prospect if you play your cards right. The mini-game during phone calls is improved from last year, and you're able to make better use of your phone time than in previous years.

Are you guys using Name Rosters or just the default without names? If the name rosters are out I'm getting the game tomorrow.

When you go into dynasty it names the players automatically. I took OC at Stanford for my first job in dynasty and I was playing with Matthew Joseph as the QB.

I'm really enjoying the off-season content and the recruiting aspect of NCAA. I've never played dynasty before, so it's a completely new experience for me. While I don't know how it will compare to the new scouting system in Madden, it's a lot more fun than the old one. And I spent two hours trying to make the perfect playbook for me, which was more fun than it sounds. Still haven't quite figured out how to torch opposing defenses yet, at least not like I used to, but I suppose it's a learning process.

Yeah I know, they have a Auto Name Generator but there are people who make rosters with the real college player names and that's what I'm waiting for.

There's some rosters already on OS. Apparently someone bought rosters for both 360 and PS3 off GameRosters.com and uploaded them for everyone to use. Bear in mind, they aren't perfect (not worth the money at all), but they will tide you over til the Roster Naming Projects are complete. I don't know how close the PS3 rosters are, but there seems to be quite a few people over there that got the game early and got a head start on the rosters.

The PS3 rosters also have just the names with no adjustments to stats, equipment, appearance, or updated jersey numbers. Stuff like that understandably takes time so I think we won't see a completely accurate roster for either console until next month at the earliest.

I'm not too picky. I just like having the real-life names so I have a general idea of who's on each team.

So I guess that means there would be no difference in the rosters no matter where you get them from?

Normally I adjust the OVR to players myself and I try to make players who are potential high round picks in real life with high OVR so they can come out decent in Madden when I import the Class. I'll probably make 4-6 years worth of classes. Except if the Import is like last year, it probably won't be worth it.

Anyone else been encountering a lot of glitches in the game? I've had an unusually high number of passes peg my receivers in the head or chest and have them not even make an attempt to catch it, especially in RtG mode. That's not counting the route glitches and a few other issues.

Pretty much, yeah. The only difference might be that one person might spend more time perfecting their favorite school over the others, but otherwise, most of them should be 95% similar since they're going off of mostly the same sources of information for rosters.

Honestly, if you're trying to make your roster super-accurate, you might be better off waiting until September to download rosters and then exporting to Madden, as there will be tons of changes between now and then. I've already noticed that the roster I downloaded has Terrelle Pryor and he may be inserted in Madden 12 in a roster update if a team picks him up at any point.

You'll be interested in this, Franny.

In Road to Glory mode, you can now purchase upgrade packages to increase your player's rating with XP you earn in games and during practice. For running backs, one of the packages is call "The Rock", and the description is "It doesn't matter what you think about this Boost.".

Three so far for me. Once at the start of my dynasty, once in the middle of a game, and once making my RtG player.
I've had some freezing issues as well, but so far none in the middle of a game (although I do have it installed it to the hard drive). Mainly it's been freezing when trying to download an online dynasty file (happened like 4 or 5 times to me and another member of the dynasty) and it happened once at the end of a Road To Glory game.

Yeah well normally I rent it when the game comes out, play it for 5 days, build up at least 3-4 Draft Classes, and then later I'll go back and rent it again with newer rosters and just update my draft class files.

I am thinking about changing Terrelle Pryor in NCAA 12 to a whole new player, giving him a new name, hair, skin, etc if he does goes into the NFL.

Since Madden 12 allows you to completely edit players in Franchise Mode now, you can also lower all of his stats so that no one signs him if he goes undrafted.

Good point. I'm just waiting on the guys at OS to complete the PS3 Rosters and I'll most likely go get the game when the rosters are out.

Got a PS3 roster that was uploaded from OS and I just transferred it from my flash drive to my PS3 and I am going to hope Blockbuster has 1 copy of NCAA 12 lol.

First thing I'm doing is looking at who is potential first round picks as of now and changing their ratings so at least I can have something close to the real 2012 draft. From there I'll probably dive into Dynasty with Stanford, Miami or a low level team.

What's a good low level team to use?

I took my young QB to Miami and won the starting spot. sitting at 7-2, Miami is sitting at #21. Kinda happy about that

One thing I am getting tired of is when the game ends, you have to sit there and watch every highlight you had. I press every button and cant stop it lol. I threw for 5TDs in one game and had to watch them all. Is there any way to turn this off?

I think I have an incomplete version of the game. I can't seem to figure out how to give recruits money to come and play for my school, and I even tried playing as Ohio State and USC. :dancingbanana:

Not that I know of, and I've tried. I took a similar route with my running back. Was offered a scholarship at Miami, joined as the fourth string, and won the starting spot by season's end.

O so you can win a starting spot now? in the last ones you started no matter what.
No, last year if you started depended upon which college you went too. Some would have you as a starter right away, others you'd have to start at second through fourth string. But this year, once you gain enough "coach's confidence" through practice and whatever gametime you get, you have to win a position battle before you get promoted to the next string.

yupp have to win the starting spot. As a QB you only have to throw a few touchdowns and complete two or three decent passes out of 25 reps

After my first season with Miami, we are sitting at #9 and my guy is being mentioned in the Heisman talk :)

I havent played NCAA since 06. When I last played and imported to Madden, my man was a Heisman winner and a hell of a receiver and went in the 5th round. I would have to wonder if my player overachieves, would he be able to go in the first round or are they going to make it impossible to break into the first 3 rounds in Madden 12

EA is apparently reworking how the saved rosters from NCAA will translate into Madden when they're imported.
Great! Hopefully they get it working correctly, I would hate to know I can get Andrew Luck in the 5th Round instead of him being the top prospect and most likely # 1 Pick.

Word of advice to everyone playing, really pay attention to your fumbles. Most of them aren't fumbles, as the ball almost always comes out long after they were down. It's annoying.

I think I'm about done with this game. Once again it froze on me, at the end of a game no less. For the second time today, so that's about two hours wasted. This is ridiculous EA, thanks for a buggy game.
