NCAA 12 Demo

76 posts in this topic

The demo features two separate matchups (Alabama at Florida State and Oregon at Texas) and allows for the unlocking of five different Nike Pro Combat jerseys for use with retail copies. It’s expected to arrive for the Xbox 360 around 2am PT and then the PS3 around 4pm PT.

Just Found the NCAA 12 Demo on the the Playstation Store and am now beginning to download the File.

I have to say, one of the things for NCAA 12 that really intrigues me is that in Dynasty Mode there is a Coaching Carousel just like in real life!

I played through both games (as Bama and Oregon, FSU and Texas are my two most despised teams) and was impressed. It didn't feel quite as arcadey as NCAA usually does to me, but I still don't see myself getting the game. If that was a preview of the tackling in Madden as well, it played pretty well. I'd need some more time to fully say if it's better, but it did seem that way on a first impression.

Played both games and I liked it but that won't change my mind in terms of only renting the game and getting as many Draft Classes as possible.

My only two complaints are that Oregon non stop ran the no huddle which really got on my nerves, and the clock kill off. I don't know what it was, but it seemed I would go from having 40 seconds to like absolutely no time left on the clock.

I haven't played the demo, but I would think they must have had Chew Clock on then.

The tackling and defensive AI seems to be improved, but I'm still not liking how the WRs on the outside are covered so easily compared to slot receivers. I can throw to my slot receivers all game with the assurance that they'll pick up yardage, but I can't throw anything to my outside guys without getting picked off. I'm not sure if it's because I put it on All-American or it's a carry-over from the imbalance of previous years.

Overall, the demo was solid but not enough to warrant a Day 1 purchase.

Maybe it's the plays you're running? I was playing the demo on Heisman with 'Bama and had 2 consecutive 60+ yd bombs for TDs while running Four Verticals. My #1 WR on the outside burned the corner both times and because the SS had to worry about the slot guy, it was basically 1-on-1 coverage.

Anyways, my random thoughts on the demo:

- Not sure how I feel about the tackling yet. It seems better overall, but the hit-stick seems like it's useless now. Even when I've had good momentum going into a tackle, the hit-stick usually just results in a weak looking tackle that has no impact. Also, it still seems like whatever defensive player I'm controlling (usually a LB) gets thrown into blocks too easily.

- Zone coverage is definitely improved. I was able to run zones in NCAA and Madden last year, but it seems like the defense is a lot more aware now and won't just stay in their zone if they see a player running free.

- If you're having trouble running the ball in the demo then try going into the pause menu and turning auto-sprint and auto-strafe off. Both are turned on by default (or at least auto-sprint is for sure) which can mess with some people's play-styles (like mine).

- The team-specific intros are pretty cool and I look forward to seeing all of them in the actual game. They could stand to work on the crowd noise though since it seems pretty weak (just a demo though obviously).

actualy I enjoyed the demo and since they threw more money at madden then ncaa and used the same tackling system we get a sneak preview of madden .

I pre ordered this game from Gamestop the other day. Doing so gets me all of the Nike Pro Combat unis. Izzzz Niiiice

I really like the improvements made to the gameplay. There are still some things to work out though.

I was playing against the slot receiver running across the middle. I was right on him like glue. The QB throws it to him anyway and y some fluke, it looked like freaking seabiscuit running for the ball. Left me in the dust to make the catch, then Im right back on him. Odd, but I like the gameplay over all. Cant wait to create and convert to Madden!

the visuals on the ps3 are garbage, the field looks like an oil painting / low res texture. I dont understand why. Saw a buddy of mine playing the 360 demo and the turf looks 10X better, more blades of grass and the grass blades are visible at ALL times. in the ps3 version you can only see the blades of grass on a replay.... when your actually playing the game its just a low res grass texture like in the old games. very strange

Going to rent this game once Rosters with Names are released and I'll build up a ton of draft classes to be imported.

I'm really looking forward to the new Coaching Carousel in Dynasty Mode.

You should enjoy it, I definitely am. Hopefully they put even just half the effort they put into RTG in NCAA 12 into Madden's Superstar mode.

I picked it up because I'm not buying Madden this year. I didn't realize it had a slightly simplified ratings system, but whatever. It's pretty fun, but it's a lot more difficult than Madden 11 was. I could shred the computer on Madden, but the new zone coverage makes things much more difficult on this NCAA. I'm embarrassed to say I had to drop down from Heisman until I get a better feel for the new style of defense.

I'm having fun with it though, which is what's important.

Sadly, I've had some freezing issues with the 360 version. It appears the game likes to lock out.... err lock up every now and then.

Three so far for me. Once at the start of my dynasty, once in the middle of a game, and once making my RtG player.

I picked up the game last night and I'm satisfied with my purchase, but I can see where I'd hate the game if I had bought NCAA 11 last year. I've played NCAA 11 at my buddy's house plenty of times and the two games do feel awfully similar. However, I like the improvements to Dynasty Mode, especially in the way of recruitment. The gameplay feels solid and the Home Field Advantage does make a difference when using a younger player.

My biggest gripe thus far has been the clunky user interface and slow load speeds. I played the 360 version in the store and I thought it was exclusive to that console, but I had the same problem with my PS3 copy, too.

Haven't got NCAA 12 yet as I'm waiting for named rosters to come out and than get it to start a Dynasty to get Draft Classes for Madden.

Can someone tell me if they have improved upon Recruiting at all? I know they added in the Coaching Carousel to NCAA but I haven't heard if they improved recruiting.
