The Prestige

Optimal No Huddle Personnel

11 posts in this topic

I'm assuming Willis McGahee is out of here.

Flacco has been begging for this offense to get more aggressive since the end of last season.

I think the coolest personnel grouping would be to have Anquan Boldin and Ray Rice split in the backfield with Torrey Smith and Derrick Mason outside and David Reed in the slot.

I would also like to see Rice spelled by Ricky Williams/Allen/Dickson, and David Reed spelled by Heap/Dickson/Turner.

Anquan Boldin is great in space and at breaking tackles. I'm assuming this "no huddle" is not a 2-minute type of deal.

Even a basic Rice-Boldin-Mason-Heap-Smith corps would be nice but I also would like to see what McClain might be able to do as a guy who chips, then catches a swing pass.

List your preferences for the no huddle.

I stopped after Boldin in the back field...

In reality we have less running options then in the open field.
Because Ray Rice is our lead back McClain is good but as a blocker and MaGahaee has not been showing us all pro back numbers... Open field has to many guys that can break out at any game.. Housh, Bolden, Heap, Torrie Smith, Stallworth, Mason, Dickson, Pitta and maybe Reed...
Any of these guys can make defense spread out, but our running game which primarily Ray Rice with the carries is deficient...

in reality, we have an amazingly versatile backfield, featuring Rice who is outstanding in open space and one of the best recieving backs in the league, a bruiser in McClain who brings us the power run attack, and McGahee, who is a combination of the two.

Now it's fixed.

That guy is a hall of famer and I'm still a rookie so my post are not going to be that extraordinary. This theory is the same in regards to actual football players as-well...

status means nothing, my friend...it just means I talk too much.

But really, this thread was dead before it started. Running fast break offenses has nothing to do with exotic formations.

I respectfully disagree. The truth is, when you switch to no huddle - and I designated that I'm not talking about the 2 or 4-minute offense -, it's actually crucial that you take advantage of a 6 or 7-back defense by making sure you have the right personnel and sometimes the right formation out there.

The truth is, either Green Bay, New Orleans and New England run far more advanced offenses or Cam Cameron's has about 60 pages unused. The teams that run no huddle and spread best have some of their best YAC players in the backfield, releasing at different times to take advantage of the dime defense. Of course, if you put other players back there or you only use the no huddle when you're running out of time, it's useless to use the middle of the field. This goes back to my original point that Flacco wants the offense to be more aggressive.
