Optimistic Season

17 posts in this topic

I think if the Ravens get a little help in the secondary and the o line, WR and QB continue to improve, the Ravens could have a succussful season.

I see any division game a potential win for the ravens.

The Titans cant throw the ball and we play the run well.

Oakland and Miami are suspect as well.

Plus we can definatly sneek a win away from one one of the other teams.....

I second this notion.

A healthy defense + mediocre offensive production could equal a lot of wins for us! It all depends on injuries, QB play, and the bounce of the ball.

i think we can win 3 from the division 2 from oak and mia and 2 from the Afc south and Nfc west maybe 3-4 if we are lucky

that means a record of 7-9 to a 9-7

Id be happy if we got an 8-8 this season.

I see us having a 7-9 or 8-8 season but the potential is there for a 10-6 season if everything clicks. which is not bad for Harbs' first year. If we can stay healthy at the aforementioned areas ravensfan2430 listed we will have a good year for the team to grow on and be ready to take it to the next level in 09. But it is crucial that our starting o-line and cornerbacks stay healthy this year. All of the backups in those positions are either green and still improving (Oniel Cousins, David Hale, Derrick Martin, Fabian Washington, etc) or they are just not competent football players from what we've seen(Frank Walker, Chris Chester).

But I see Flacco having a solid rookie season and he will only continue to improve with more playing time. Hopefully Smith will continue developing his skills to go with his intangibles as well. And hopefully both will spark some good chemistry with the wideouts we already have and make that area less of a need for us.

But again, health is always key to any team's success, as long as our team is well conditioned (which I think they are as a result of coach Harbaugh's training camp) and have some luck on their side.

On an unrelated note, I just wanted to say how happy I am to be able to come on here and see optimism from TRUE Ravens fans instead of the gloom and doom I see everywhere else online (the Sun, ESPN, etc) from other "fans."

I think anything short of a super bowl appearance is a failure of a season. Given the fact that we are a rebuilding team; I think we have as much of a chance to a super bowl game than any other team. If the Chicago Bears with Rex Grossman as their quarterback can make it to the super bowl we def. can. Hows this for optimism! :D

Yeah! I'm tired of all the gloom myself. We have a new Head Coach, I do not expect him to come in and have a great season. I'm looking for him to improve our team. I do not have any unrealistic time frame, just looking for progress. I think we can win with the team we have, but with a new coach comes a new vision lets allow the vision to come into focus before we start to pass judgment. :D

Everyones right... we have just as good as chance as anyone else does.. why because we have a dominant defense that can hold their own and a brand new offense that just getting better and better as long as flacco is the starter... as far as our secondary, yes staying healthy is vital but i do think if we loose any more (considering ed reed is out right now) we do have some backup that will be a decent substitute....offensively we cant take a hit, everyone is still learning so lets pray we go full season with no more injuries...i still think we can come up with .500+ wins this season, the schedule doesnt look to out of reach...

We just need no turnovers and for the offense to control the ball and give it to Matt at least half the time.

The 2nd and 3rd preseason had me worried with the defense and O-line but the fourth showed just what a big difference some of those who have been getting to 100% can make.

I also think special teams was a couple steps on several preseason plays from scoring.

8-8 isn't unreasonable, and could also be the first in the division with the possibly tough schedule. I'd just like to make sure the various 4-12/5-11 columnists at espn/nfl.com/si put down their crack pipe and realize how much injuries had to do with last year. The core of this team is still strong some of the playmakers are greying but other "youngsters" are starting to fill in the gaps and maintain it.

I agree with that ... 2 years ago when we went 13-3 they said nothing.... it was as if we didn't exist. Then last year we go 5-11 and they say how the ravens are old and can't keep up.

While there is no doubt we are getting older, i still believe that if our defense can stay a little more healthy than last year, we can have a great season.

Either way we wont get credit. Go Ravens

Now that's more like it.

I too am one of the few that think the ravens will have a good season. I think the Ravens will be taken more seriously as the season moves along. When we make it to the Playoffs call up the Saints Fans I heard their having a discount on bandwagon cushions...

We start the season 0-0, there is plenty of reason to be optimistic. Any given sunday, we start gelling.

Staying healthy is the key for us.

the good news is our weak points are easy to spot and none of them are beyond repair.

But the bad news is our weak points are easy to spot...

True though.
Any given Sunday...
