Maybe you missed my last prediction, but I'm pretty sure it stated that the Ravens will make the playoffs, I don't really know how that is giving up?

Maybe you want to sit around and predict Kindle will have a bunch of sacks, but the guy is coming off an almost career ending injury, hasn't even played in a preseason game, and now has no organizational guidance during this lockout; I'm not getting my hopes up on that guy.

Or that a rookie is gonna be a shut down corner ? That's a joke he is a rookie he needs time to develop.

And I'm sure a lot of people will agree with me when i say that Cam is a horrible play caller.

I'm not exactly sure what your issue is with my post, they are more realistic than most of the other predictions, sorry not sorry that I hurt your feelings.

To answer the question, fox and wilson will probably start week 1 but jimmy smith will eventually take one of the starting spots. I wouldn't be suprised if smith is a starter in week 1 but it'd be hard for harbaugh to make smith a starter without seeing him actually play.

We don't even know if wilson is going to be resigned but i hope he does over chris carr.
Fox, smith, wilson, webb, curtis brown and cary williams--> more than solid cb crew for pagano to work with

I think Webb will see a lot of action week one, even if he doesn't start. Webb did a really good job on Mike Wallace in 3 games last season. Wilson and Carr both did a really strong job against Hines Ward in 3 games last season as well.

So with that, I can see the Ravens going with more of a match up lineup in the secondary to start week 1. I can see Wilson and Webb starting the game, with Foxworth in the slot, or maybe Foxworth will cover Ward. Jimmy will see about 8-12 snaps in that game. The Ravens know how easy it was to attack Kyle Wilson in the first game last season, and they won't put Jimmy Smith in a position to cost us any big plays in a tightly contested Ravens Steelers game.

Now what I can see is Jimmy Smith getting his first start of the season in week 2. Kenny Britt will probably be suspended for that game, but even if he's not, you allow Jimmy Smith to match up with the big physical WR. If Kerry Collins doesn't return(hopefully he's in a Ravens uniform) then the Titans will have a inexperienced QB under center.

Now i'm not saying a inexperience/average QB can't take advantage of a rookie CB, but I'd rather have Jimmy Smith get his feet wet against the likes of Rusty Smith and Nate Washington, rather then Ben and any of his WRs.

Let the vets see the majority of snaps vs the Steelers, allow Jimmy Smith to get his feet wet against the Titans and Rams, then it's on to the Jets, who are tough but isn't the best passing team around. After that the Ravens should be able to go into the bye week with a general idea of how they wanna handle the CB rotation.

Bold Predictions for 2011

NUMBER ONE : Sergio Kindle will record no sacks, and spend most of his time on IR.

NUMBER TWO : Jimmy Smith will play sub par to begin the season and get benched week three in favor of either Carr or Wilson whoever we resign.

NUMBER THREE : Flacco will not throw over 4000 yards

NUMBER FOUR : Cam will continue to do a horrible job play calling.

NUMBER FIVE : Despite all of this we will still make the playoffs.

No Foxworth in that rotation? The guy is under contract and the coaches stated he'll likely get his job back if he's healthy.
Foxworth is coming off a serious injury and had no playing time last season. While I see him in the rotation heavy, I don't see him waltzing in and getting that starting nod right away. We have too much depth at that position IMO for that to happen and we open vs the Steelers. Can't afford for Foxworth to be rusty that game.

I see no reason that we would change up what worked pretty well at the end of last season. Washington will not be returning. While I'd like to see Wilson/Carr both back, I doubt that will happen. I see Webb/Carr opening the season as starters, with Foxworth/Smith/Williams rotation. If Foxworth is back to form, he'll get his starting spot back eventually.

Sure I could end up eating those words, but if I'm right that will be you my friend, and I wont forget to remind you. Only time will tell, these are just predictions, hence the topic's title.

Foxy and Smith because of the monetary investment in them. We wouldn't want the personnel decision makers to lose face now would we...

Well I think this is a moot question, since the staff has already answered this for us -- Foxworth will be given his job back, and Jimmy Smith will start from Day 1.
