This week's question...

Who will be the Ravens' starting cornerbacks in 2011 and why?

Foxworth and Smith.

Chuck Pagano was our secondary coach last season and is not the DC. He seemed really high on Jimmy Smith after the draft, so I have no doubts the rookie will be given every opportunity to start.

Foxy finished the 2009 season, as one of our most consistent and efficient cornerbacks on the team. He should be 100% healthy and resume that starting position.

However because Webb did should a great job containing Wallace last season, he'll be on the field in week 1 vs the Steelers.

Ultimately I think the Ravens will mix and match the secondary depending on the teams and different matchups.

Frank Walker and Corey Ivy

Props +2. -1 for not mentioning Fabian.

I'm actually gonna say that Jimmy Smith won't be starting right away. No Training Camp, no practices, means no rookies starting unless we're severely deficient at the position. Say what you want, but these are facts. Still hasn't played a down at the Pro level.

Foxworth and Wilson/Carr.

Domonique Foxworth and Chris Carr.

No spot is guaranteed on the depth chart, but it is always assumed that an injured starter will get his spot back, hence Foxworth's inclusion. And while people may look to popular choices Lardarius Webb, Jimmy Smith, or Josh Wilson to start opposite the returning Foxworth, there is still the chance that the Ravens may be unable to retain Wilson. As for Smith and Webb, the lockout will greatly hamper their immediate impact on the field, particularly in the case of Smith as a rookie. Though Webb showed great promise last season, it'll be difficult to improve in the early stages of the season without having had the benefit of the coaching staff for an entire offseason.

Now, bear in mind, there is a great chance that we'll see every corner in action this season, both given the likelihood of injuries at the position as well as the Ravens' propensity for rotating players frequently. However, if we're looking merely at Week 1 starters, the safe bet is the incumbent Foxworth and the solid Carr.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the season opener be Webb and Wilson/Carr, as Foxworth may be a little rusty coming off the injury and Smith probably wont know all the ins and outs of the defense quite yet...however by mid season I would say Foxworth and Smith, with a good rotation.

jamarcus russel

but yeah most likely Foxworth and Wilson/Carr.
Maybe at left tackle

But anyway, since this is BOLD predictions, I'll go with

Aso, Wilson, Smith, and Webb as our top 4 guys

Week 1? Foxworth and Carr.

I see Wilson signing with another team, Jimmy becoming a starter by mid-season and Webb and Carr battling for nickel and dime duties after that, with Lardarius eventually getting the lion's share of snaps.

Lardarius Webb and Chris Carr.

Webb could easily be set to break out this season and Carr was our most consistent last year. I think the team would like to re-sign both Carr and Wilson, but Carr is the more likely IMO.

This is what I posted over on the Facebook post poll. DISCLAIMER: I was not initially high on the Nnamdi idea and didn't think it was realistic and affordable for our team. But after careful consideration and contemplating I came to the conclusions included below. I'm not saying this is going to happen or will happen. I'm just saying that it could, and if it did I strongly feel that it would do wonders for our team for the reasons mentioned below. Please don't go after me for being a bandwagoner or unrealistic because I have carefully thought all this out. Let me know what you guys think!

"1) Nnamdi 2)Wilson 3)Smith 4)Webb 5&6) Brown and Williams Due to the shortened offseason Jimmy will most likely not start at the beginning of this season, he will need time to acclimate to the pro game. Wilson proved last year that he has starter quality talent and should get priority from the front office when business resumes. Due to $$$, Foxworth will get traded/cut, Carr will not be resigned, and neither will Washington. Foxworth is overpaid and will most likely not be the same after his injury. He was good before it and I don't realistically see him getting any better. Webb showed rust and we can't rely on Foxworth to have "rust" if he will be lining up against the competition's best WR while Jimmy gets the feel for the game. Use him as trade bait and free up the cap space for what I suggest next. Since the big name pass rusher isn't out there this off-season I believe that they should invest the money and get a real quality player in Nnamdi that will directly impact the effectiveness of the pass rush by practically shutting down one half of the field. Nnamdi has said that he wants to play under Ray and Ed and I feel like he will trade in the blockbuster contract to give himself a shot at a Super Bowl with a top contender. He already has enough money to retire on and I believe he will go to greener pastures in search of a ring instead of another rebuilding team and more money. Lets just call it the "Lebron Effect." Pagano knows what he is doing and he will surely utilize this talented defensive backfield to support the front 7 in blitz packages. In addition, by signing Nnamdi, you also get more bang for your buck out of Jimmy by giving him the opportunity to not only learn from Ed and Chuck Pagano, but also the best cover corner in the game. So in essence you get two Nnamdis for the price of one. By the end of the season, you have Nnamdi and Jimmy starting with Josh and Lardarius being the nickel and dimes. That would be the best DB lineup in the league.

In addition, news has broke that Kindle has been cleared to play. While he still has a ways to go, if everything pans out we could have a sack specialist in house already. By us having a dominant secondary in a pass first league, we will open up more blitz opportunities and get to the QB more. By getting Nnamdi, you not only get a great player, you also give a great prospect a better chance at success and give your pass rush more time to punish the passer. A lot of things have to fall in place for this to become a reality but I hope and pray that the FO sees the golden opportunity here to truly make our defense elite once more. As I'm sure Ray is telling his troops, "It's in Indy this year."

For those of you that scream the money isn't out there consider this. The vast majority of our CAP space is taken up by our aging stars: Heap, Mason, Ray, and Ed. In the next 2 years Ray and Mase will most likely retire with Heap following close behind (I believe that Reed will be around for a while still). Simply structure the contract so that Nnamdi's big money starts coming when players like Mase are headed out the door. Think of it as a changing of the guard as you will. When these big 4 retire they will be replaced by NGATA, Nnamdi, Flacco, Rice, and Oher. This is far from a pipe dream, this could very well happen folks. If it does happen, there will be a sweet spot of maybe 2 years where we could start a dynasty. If it does happen, our Super Bowl hopes and dreams will be much more attainable."

Foxworth and Carr. Smith will play nickel with Webb.
My guess is Carr will begin to show why he's not a starting cb again and Smith/Webb will take over 4-5 games into the season.

I would hate to see Carr and Foxworth go. Both good people/leaders, and Carr is a very consistent player. But the more I read here and picture Asomugha, Wilson, Smith and Webb as our top 4, I get as giddy as a schoolgirl. I know people talk about the money, and I get that. But, anything can happen. I feel the FO will make the best decision for this team. You know they'll look at the numbers and go through all the scenarios. In Oz We Trust.

Definitely Smith and Josh Wilson. Smiths raw talent will show, and get him in the starting line up pretty quickly, and if no ones noticed yet, Josh Wilson is quietly a pretty good "play maker"! Never sit a play maker on the bench!!!

No Foxworth in that rotation? The guy is under contract and the coaches stated he'll likely get his job back if he's healthy.

Bold Predictions for 2011

NUMBER ONE : Sergio Kindle will record no sacks, and spend most of his time on IR.

NUMBER TWO : Jimmy Smith will play sub par to begin the season and get benched week three in favor of either Carr or Wilson whoever we resign.

NUMBER THREE : Flacco will not throw over 4000 yards

NUMBER FOUR : Cam will continue to do a horrible job play calling.

NUMBER FIVE : Despite all of this we will still make the playoffs.

Maybe you missed my last prediction, but I'm pretty sure it stated that the Ravens will make the playoffs, I don't really know how that is giving up?

Maybe you want to sit around and predict Kindle will have a bunch of sacks, but the guy is coming off an almost career ending injury, hasn't even played in a preseason game, and now has no organizational guidance during this lockout; I'm not getting my hopes up on that guy.

Or that a rookie is gonna be a shut down corner ? That's a joke he is a rookie he needs time to develop.

And I'm sure a lot of people will agree with me when i say that Cam is a horrible play caller.

I'm not exactly sure what your issue is with my post, they are more realistic than most of the other predictions, sorry not sorry that I hurt your feelings.
