Game Of Thrones

Information from past Episodes are spoken freely in this thread. If you are not caught up, proceed with caution! Also, if material from book is being mentioned make sure it is only from "Game of Thrones" and not the other 3(soon to be 4)books. We want to limit spoilers.
Thought I would start a Game of Thrones thread to talk about past episodes and to speculate about future ones. At this time 9 Episodes of the 10 Episode season have aired on HBO.

I fell in love with this show from Day 1 and It saddened me that one of my favorite characters met their demise last night. Of all the ways to do it, that little twit Joffery ordered for Eddard's death. On the plus side, I am excited to see if Jon Snow will team up with his brother and fight against the Lannisters. Also very curious to see the situation with Dany and Khal and what Robb will do with Jaime. On a side not, curious to see where Ser Barristan will end up as well.

Also, I love Peter Dinklage as Tyrion. He is one of the best supporting characters on this show and I hope he does win that Emmy he is nominated for.

One last thing, Does anyone else know about Jaime and Cersei besides Jon Arryn, the Spider, Baelish and Eddard? Do any of the other Starks know?

Remember; No Spoilers from the books unless you are comparing the television show to what has already happened in the books.

Ex. In the book, Ghost is a mute dog. In the show, he barks and growls.

What are your thoughts so far?

My girlfriend and I are in love with this show. Neither of us have read the books, but the show is just fantastic. Excellent acting, writing, production values, etc. We can't stand having to wait a week to see what happens next. That is the mark of a real winner, when it leaves you wanting more.

Tyrion is by far our favorite character, definitely deserves an Emmy. Stellar performance.

I love Tyrion, his character is so rich (literally lol) and as a Lannister he seems like the outcast obviously but he gives you a Lannister to cheer for. Not one family in this series is truly good or evil. I love this show, and after next weeks season finale, I am going to read the books.

OMG i love this series and that is alot coming from a guy who watches very little tv. Ned stark is my favorite character followed by john snow and tyrian lanister. My only 2 complaints so far are 1)They didnt show the battle this week between 2k starks men vs the lanister army and 2)The season is too darn short and i dont know if i can stand to wait a year for the next one. The two biggest things i hope for are 1) khal drogo and daenerys raise some kinda of crazy blood magic baby that is totally freaking evil and 2)Arya stark sticks her lil sword (soz cant remember the name she gave it) right through joffreys face....lol but im an extremist i guess....happy season ending next week!

Coming from someone who read the book (I started reading it after I saw the first couple episodes), I wasn't as saddened by Eddard's death as you were since I saw it coming. I did like how they did that scene though: the way the sword comes down, the birds start to fly, and the sad look on Arya's face. If I hadn't already experienced the same "Holy ****!" moment from reading the book then I definitely would have felt more watching that scene. Powerful stuff.

I agree with you on your Tyrion comments. Peter Dinklage is perfect for the role and I foresee more than one Emmy in his future. Without really spoiling anything, I'll just say that Tyrion will probably have an even bigger role next season in the show.

As for your question: technically, Bran would know about Jaime and Cersei, but he's having trouble remembering what happened.

I wish I had HBO... hopefully it'll come out on Netflix at some point.

I don't think any of the HBO shows are on the Netflix instant queue, but whenever the show comes out on dvd/blu-ray you should be able to get it through the mail shortly after.

Well now that the first season is complete, I guess I can weigh in a little bit. I loved the books, so I had some pretty high expectations coming in and I think HBO did a fanatastic job. I was worried that there would be a lot of "just for added drama" scenes thrown in, but I was impressed with how the series remained very true to the story. I was hoping to see a little more battle scenes, but I cant complain too much. Now the long wait til next season...

Battle scenes are tricky because of budget and stuff.

I havent read the books but it seems like one heck of a battle scene is brewing. I guess i was truely hoping it would have happened before the end of S1 but now i am hoping for the first episode of S2!!!

Second season is scheduled to air in the spring of 2012. I've also heard that in the 2nd book there is an epic fight, I hope they won't skip over it.
