Rumor: Bramlet Signed With Ravens

24 posts in this topic

Hoping it's not true...

To be honest, I take stuff that's posted on PFT with a grain of salt, since they're not exactly a credible news source, IMO. They don't adhere to journalistic standards (as they'll admit), so it's almost the same as getting information from a random blogger.

But as you noted, it's only a rumor anyway until it's confirmed, so I'm not too concerned about this just yet...

Why would anyone make this up? I'm pretty sure it's true. And why would anyone be against this move? He's just here to make sure we have enough QB's available. He's not gonna get playing time over Smith/Flacco/Boller. But if Flacco gets hurt today who's gonna start for us in week 1? The Coaches are just making sure we have enough QB's on our roster. If they wanted to bring in somebody who could start for us they would have signed Culpepper or somebody else with experience as a starter.

We picked up two unconfirmed tips that quarterback Casey Bramlet could be joining the Ravens as soon as tomorrow. And so we rolled up our sleeves and confirmed it.

Bramlet is joining the Ravens.

The Chargers released Bramlet on Tuesday. He was in Miami for part of 2007 with Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, who was the coach of the Fins for the team

He's a Raven on wikipedia. and if you can't trust wikipedia, who can you trust?

Truer words have never been spoken. I've this story in a couple of places so its probably true, but I'm not sure what to think of it. I didn't want to sign a journeyman, I wanted to sign someone with a history of sticking power so he'd be a better influence on our young guys.

Bad, bad, move... there are a plethora of veteran QBs on the market that would be better options. I REALLY hope this is not the case

It's definitley true. This is posted on ESPN, cbssportsline , etc. I guess they are expected the "best" back-up in the league to be out for the season.

Has anyone actually seen anything that this guy can do? I could find little about him. He went to Wyoming.

apparently his best statistical game was 264 yards and 1 touchdown on 17-of-25 passing attempts. And that was in NFL europa.

He had better not take the field this season.

Why Bramlet, what has he done other than be on practice squads and early season rosters? We easily could have waited for potential cuts of guys who have NFL experience (Shaun Hill of the 49ers, a former Terp or Jared Lorenzen / Quinn Gray of the Colts). Or is Kyle really looking that doubtful for the season? Oh well, I hope he does ok for us however long he is with us.

Bramlet is clearly just an attempt to put some much needed depth at the QB position, at least for a few weeks while they figure out what to do with Boller.

I'd rather see us pick up a Free Agent Deep thread at WR or a good cover corner though.

You must have missed him winning World Bowl MVP honors, thanks to his 20 of 27 for 347 yards and a record setting four touchdown passes. And the QB that he beat is currently the starter for the 49ers.

Hamburg Sea Devils, during the "Last" World Bowl.

I've been hoping the Ravens would pick him up for a few years.

Bramlet played pretty good for only having a few hours in the playbook! :o

I agree, even though the stats don't equal his play. Looking at his stats before I watched the game I was thinking "What the?". I think that dropped passes should be an added stat for QB completion%, because when I watched the game he actually played pretty well, considering the lack of familiarity with the players. It would be nice to see what he could do after a few practices so he could get in the groove with the speed of the players (timing is everything).

He impressed me, especially in his tenacity when he ran (and didn't slide), and his arm strength was pretty good too. Both of the INT's were a product of bad timing, but I think a few practices will straighten that out.

He seems to be a tough kid, I hope we give him a shot.
