I agree that Ben and Flacco don't get the same treatment as the top tier QBs (even though Ben is one). Luckily, they changed the rules so that it is no longer a penalty to unintentionally brush against the QB's helmet. That's the one that I truly can't stand, when it's incidental contact that wasn't even forceful and they call unnecessary roughness.

Ben did get his nose broken, and honestly it should have been a flag under last year's rules. It was totally unintentional, I think most Steeler fans agree that Ngata wasn't trying to do that. I wouldn't label someone as dirty for that. The McClain hit was a bit unnecessary and vicious, I never like to see a player get hurt like Miller did there.
No question about it. I think we were just miffed that after all the flags we disagreed with previously in the year, our arch enemy got away with those two incidents in the same game. But we don't blame the Ravens for that. I don't really blame the officials either (Maybe the McClain hit). I blame the Commish. To be honest, the hit on Heath Miller shouldn't be an issue IMO. Nor should most vicious hits, but that's the game I grew up with and it's being softened these days.

Ok Well if you read any other board ya know Ravens fans are giving him about 1 year left which goes to what I was saying if you are going to rely on wallace, sanders, and brown, as your starters then you are going to have a lot of problems. If you think that you are going to be fine without Hines I think you may under estimate his presence on the field, it is going to take a lot to get past not having him for you guys.

Second off the only good MLB you got is Timmons, won't take anything from him, actually out of all the steelers minus heinz or hampton, he is probably my favorite. Overall though sorry field general.... really... if that is your argument then that speaks to how much actual talent they have left at that position, but I guess foote could step in and dominate... bwahahahaha.

As far as Woodley, yeah I'll give ya production but Elite players can break down the rest of the elite and that he is not, if he was going against LT's instead of RT's he would not be nearly as good as he is with Harrison to help him out.

Yeah your right if by number you mean 2 maybe 3 then your done.
And I said he wasnt that good, as to imply he is not nearly as good as he thinks he is. He is still a solid player just nor someone who can shoot their mouth off with big boy talk. As far as Steelers being a great team as of now, only a fool would argue that.

can i ask how your situation is any different than ours.....in three years you could lose a number of your star players

ray lewis
mason
reed

to name a few....

but what your team(as well as ours)does is make sure we have the replacements ready for when that time comes

i can name countless great steelers that were immediatly replaced with great steelers

so i warn you not to get your hopes up that one day we wont be there.....although there will be a time where the ravens have the upper hand and we cant seem to get past you

but we will always be your toughest enemy......as you will always be ours

and i wouldnt want it any other way

anyone who thinks PIT or BAL is fading off into the sunset anytime soon is seriously deluded.

This entire thread is ridiculous. Woodley shot off at his mouth; it's to be expected. It wouldn't be much of a rivalry otherwise. The only thing that irks me about it is that half the board here has their panties in a bundle, which is exactly what he wanted.

You guys roster of people who are over 30 is signifcantly greater than our, guys like hampton(no replacement), kiesel(Cam Heyward), harrison(cant be replaced), ward(nobody), adams(Gilchrist), clark(nobody), farrior(nobody), foote(nobody), taylor, smith(Hood I guess), eason(nobody), polamalu(cant be replaced), Hoke(nobody) and others. Thats 12 of those 9 do not have replacements, that is going to be huge when you look at who they are.

The ravens got JJ(replacement found), Q(Drafted two young and talented wideouts), Mason (same as Q), Heap (found replacement), Housh (James Hardy or D reed take his spot.) Ray (never can be replaced) Reed (cant be replaced) and donte stallworth (also replaced). We have 8 only 2 of which we have and will not be able to replace.

And yes will you guys go away completely no, but that time of the upperhand is coming soon. And as to who will be the biggest threat, yeah probably you guys. however it seems as though cleveland has gotten smart with their new GM, maybe neither of us will be in control of the division in the future.

even though we have three very talented young WR's wards spot isnt replaced you say

yet because you drafted "two young and talented wideouts" your confident in saying Q and Mason are replaced

hmmmm....

also we have a good supply of young defenders with promise that could fill many of those holes on the defense when the time comes

and troy has time left in him as does clark

hampton ill give you

Ward is going to hurt, he brings the steeler toughness to the offense in my opinion.

Saying mase is replaced I feel comfortable saying it, Q the jury is out one of those 2 will have to step up huge.

The main spot I think for you guys will be hampton and the ILB's. I dont know but watching preseason last year your young ILB's were not impressive in the slightest, is that to say under LeBeau can't that change absolutely not he is the greatest defensive mind the league has seen in a long time minus Monty Kiffin and Jim Johnson who are tied with him in my opinion.

Once those guys go the middle will be wide open and having to pray that timmons can get off the guards that are going to be on him every play, something he is not used to thanks to the severly underrated play of hampton.

Now corners I can agree with you I like Allen better than I like Brown personally but that is just me, you do have a talented duo, and a talented trio for now. But MccFadden, Gay and any of those other cats are bums.

I am not sure about clark and Polamalu, the reason I say this is because they both play the "thumper" type safety role so they take a lot of hits for a defensive back ,and with polamalu's injuries already I am not sure they are going to get any easier.

Either way this whole post for me was meant to illustrate the fact that, this looks a lot like the steel curtain team, not so much in legacy but the eery simialarities between those steelers and these. I think their time of sheer dominance has past because they are getting older and losing a lot of those core veterans that made them who they are.

this to me adds just another hue to this rivalry because here in about two or three years our vets will be gone, and it is really going to depend on who drafts the best, because there is going to be a huge turnover in the identity of both franchises. We are going to have to find new stars and talents that are going to lead the way for the future generation of Ravens-steelers fans.

I will dive to to a great state of depression if (be quiet Wardy) we lose week 1!! I know "life goes on" and "there's 15 more games", but we NEED to win this game for mental purposes alone!!

The steelers have the longest active streak in the nfl for winning the first game of the season

i think 9 years in a row now.....im not 100% sure but its something like that

this will be a hard test of that record....but speaking as a steeler fan i hope theres something to that record

be it that we are real good fresh or the long time off makes us real focused to win a game or whatever idk

but we always seem to win the first one

i cant wait its gong to be great

Edit: its actually 8 years in a row, 2003 on

Really, that's interesting. Thanks for the info. I remember watching the Steelers Falcons game last season week 1, it was a pretty good one. Anyone who thinks Matt Ryan is so much better than Flacco should compare their games against the Saints and the Steelers. Flacco's got a tough task going through a team as consistently good as the Steelers are.

Whats crazy is he was giving McCoy a lot of props... Dude said he thinks Colt McCoy will be a really good QB in this league.

I saw the comments early this morning on the NFL Network... To me it sound like they (Woodley) just think they own the the ravens and flacco... When yall beat them with Big Ben... That will change.

Its kinda like the Patriots (during their championship years) thoughts on Peyton Manning ... They just felt like they owned him.
