Lamarr Woodley Quote

164 posts in this topic

When asked if Flacco can lead the Ravens to a Super Bowl, Steelers outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley said he can’t see that happening … ever.

"No, not at all because they have to go through one team – that’s the Pittsburgh Steelers in that AFC championship,” Woodley said last night on NFL Total Access, via USA Today. “So in order for them to get to the Super Bowl, they have to beat us, and we’re not gonna let that happen once we get that close. So that’s not gonna happen in this lifetime."

Woodley is a little high on himself, a little high on his team for that fact. The Steelers aren't some unbeatable team, we had them beat ALL 3 times last year and let them off the hook by making mistakes, dropping balls, etc.

Sorry if this was posted already...I wanted to comment on the article but no comment section was up yet...which is annoying as crap.

Woodley only has a few good years left, Joe will be playing for the next 12-15 years or whatever, QBs last longer...cant wait to beat the Steelers and shut this fool up!!

I hope he keeps talking. The Ravens can definitely use the extra motivation. Especially against a team that does pretty much own them recently.

Delusional? I think not. Let's beat them at their best then talk. I am sick of playing second fiddle to this team, we got our deep threat, we are rebuilding our offensive playbook, we will give them hell this year.

If not, then touche` to you Woodley.

Also, Woodley, when Harrison retires, you won't be taking his position because you aren't talented enough to go up against Left tackles...

They might have our number in terms of results, but it's not exactly like they've completely owned us when we play. Saying we won't win the Superbowl "in this lifetime" is very bold.

did Woodley also predict Johnson's end zone drop in overtime?

How did he forget Lawrence Timmons? Timmons was their best LB last season. He is just as important as Troy but he doesn't have a flaw that teams can expose. Other than Kendrell Bell and Timmons last season their ILBs just live off the Steelers name. They're good tacklers, solid blitzers, and amongst the best run defenders; but lack good fundamental coverage skills. Last season Timmons played better than any of the standard Steelers ILB over the past 5 seasons. Harrison and Timmons played great but every other LB had did what they do normally. The notion that LARRY FOOTE is a top 10 LB is a farce.

Steelers LBs

1.James Harrison
2.Lawrence Timmons
3.LaMarr Woodley
4.James Farrior
5.their young LBs
6.The Almighty LARRY FOOTE

I think Joe Flacco is going to be super motivated now, he's going to run rampant all over the Steelers.....passing that is, not actually running. That's Ray Rice's job ahah

Whats crazy is he was giving McCoy a lot of props... Dude said he thinks Colt McCoy will be a really good QB in this league.

I saw the comments early this morning on the NFL Network... To me it sound like they (Woodley) just think they own the the ravens and flacco... When yall beat them with Big Ben... That will change.

Its kinda like the Patriots (during their championship years) thoughts on Peyton Manning ... They just felt like they owned him.

Larry Foote isn't even the 10th best linebacker in Pittsburgh. Woodley just homered it up for a night it seems, I don't think anyone put any weight behind it.

I think in the immediate future he may be correct, It seems as though we cant beat them. We have few wins and a boatload of excuses. Well we had drops, we had penalties, we had injuries, we didn't execute all of these things are wonderful excuses to make us feel better about dropping the ball. I think we could have won all of those games sure, but in the end we did ourselves in which leads me to believe the Steelers are a better team now. The reason I say this is the fact that when their players have to step up they do, ours crumble, when they have to make plays they make them they do, we do not. Their coordinators know how to use their strengths to exploit other teams. Now next year is vital we have to take a stand, we have all of the talent to beat these ****, the only thing unsolved is our pass rush, if Sergio comes back that is a huge boost, if we resign a motivated Gaither we could be unstoppable. This year we have run out of excuses we cant blame anything anymore except ourselves.

This is such an absurd claim, because Woodley presumes that the Ravens will always have to beat the Steelers in the playoffs. We didn't in 2000. The Steelers weren't even IN the playoffs in 2009, the Colts ended that journey for us. And we split with them last season, and should have been the #2 seed if it wasn't for Steve Johnson dropping that TD pass in OT and the ref from Pittsburgh handing the Steelers a big, fat, gift wrapped win in Miami.

And they LOST the Superbowl! The Steelers may not win another SB in this lifetime, maybe he should be concerned about that! It looks like they're a little vulnerable in the passing attack, they've got Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers standing in the way, and that's just to start. I really hope Joe starts lighting up these arrogant tools. If there's any football justice that a-hole of a QB and their squad of dirty players won't get back to the SB, and Joe will turn the tables in this rivalry.

I wish I could criticize Woodley for his arrogant comments but if the team I played won the vast majority of our games against another team in recent years, I'd probably feel comfortable making these claims too.

Regardless, the Ravens will get their opportunity to shut him up.

If you can't critize a Steeler, you should go buy a black & yellow jersey

If the Ravens had taken care of business against the in the past three years, Woodley wouldn't be able to make these comments. My, yours or anyone's reactions to them are ultimately meaningless. The only rebuttal that matters is what the Ravens do when they play Steelers.

I think Woodley should have said 'Flacco is way better than Ben and the Ravens will totally kick our arses'.I don't like conflict in a rivalry.

This better be on Flacco's locker all season. I hope it lights a fire under his you know where.

Also we gotta keep voting for Ray Rice, last I checked he was winning with 33% of the votes. Mendenhall has 32%

I meant he forgot how great Timmons played last season. If Timmons lastname was Willis he would have been a DPOY canidate. Woodley is living in a media driven Steelers world.

The Steelers beat us in almost every huge game we play them in, or they lose to us when they don't have Ben. Let him talk, because it's just that, talk.

Reality Check for Woodley:

1. If Cam doesn't get conservative and keeps scoring points, Ravens beat the Steelers in the Divisional Round and host the AFC Title Game.

2. Joe Flacco has done something Ben can NEVER say, Joe has led the Ravens to the Playoffs in every year he has been in the NFL, and it will be 4 straight this season.

3. If the Steelers let Ike Taylor go, it won't matter what he does in Week 1 because their secondary be will be even more vulnerable and it could get worst than what Tom Brady & Aaron Rodgers did to the Steelers defense last year.

4. To think Ben has led the Steelers to the Super Bowl is an under statement, it all has been the Steelers defense so that's another thing Joe has done that Ben hasn't. At least Joe has been able to lead the Ravens to the playoffs and playoff victories by himself.

That all sounds great and all, but the Steelers HAVE been beating us and HAVE won 2 rings in the last decade. Hurts typing it, buts it true...

I can't believe I'm about to do this, but I am going to have to stick up for Cam a little bit here. As much as I'm as happy as anyone else to call him out about his play calling, the choke was on the players more than anything.

Rice's fumble wasn't Cam's fault. Nor was the bad snap from Birk, the dropped catches from Boldin and Housh or the fact that on third and 19 they get a 58 yard play on our defense.

The play call on Flacco's INT was poor, but the other momentum-swinging plays were not Cam's fault IMO.

Flacco is going to have a monster season. Watch. We may not see it on the TVs but his own teammates say he has a fire burning and a desire to be great. We've seen that fire come out at times this season as well so we all know it's there. This year he is going to shut his haters up.
