Owners Back-Up Plan - 8 Game Season

Based on the latest date that they can hold the SB (2/12)and figuring a deal date sometime in October, the Owners have a contingency plan for an 8 game season.

Personally, I am old enough to recall the fiasco of the last K-Mart NFL season and I'd rather skip it altogether. It works out the same.

I have to believe that, should things be dragged out to an extended length of time, we may actually see an eight-game season.

My question is what about the standings within each conference, not to mention who would advance to the playoffs under such a scenario.

Overall, I would have to consider the whole thing a little far-fetched, but still I have been a fool for lesser things.

I am hearing the 8 game season would start in beginning of November. And guess who we would be playing....Steelers at Heinz Field.....16 games or I aint watching!!!!

I am not a season ticket holder so it might not make a difference, but if it is an eight game season I will not attend any games. Nor purchase any Ravens / NFL gear, nor attend any Ravens / NFL sanctioned events.
This lock out it already pissing me off.

I hope it's not a 8 game season but you have to say, 8 games are better than no games.

There is some good hope lately, with the league and players meeting recently and for most of this week there is hope a deal can be done in time to save the season.

Agreed. Having half a season is better than having no season at all and winning a championship in said season would be better than not winning anything. Let's ask the Spurs if they want to give back their trophy from the last lockout-shortened NBA season. I'm guessing that they would say no...

If anything that Asterick makes it even more important in my eyes. That would basically mean that our team overcame the delay in free agency, otas and training camp, and whooped butt and took names.

I'd like to say I would not watch, but, of course, being the football junkie that I am, I will. And, yes, a SB win is an SB win but to me it would not be the same with that asterisk. I think this season we have a truly good shot at taking it all and I would really hate for it to be spoiled and forever tarnished with that darn astersk.

The asterisk is a media creation. It isn't real. We'd get the same Lombardi that every Super Bowl champ before us did. There might even be a special charm to it. I'd be posting U Mad pics all offseason long.

Guess you just aren't as big of a fan of football than most of us lol I mean I get not buying any merchandise or going to any games, but I seriously doubt you will have your tv turned off Sundays at 1. It's the Ravens.

initially, i was thinking that if our Ravens won the SB during a 8 game season, i would be happy and yet pissed because people (esp steeler fans) would ALWAYS say that the ONLY reason the Ravens could win the SB was because of a 8 game season.

but,

I dont want a half game season, and I prefer no season to half because of the fact that, what if a player gets injured. If we get somebody who goes out and blows out a knee or something because their bodies aren't conditioned yet, and not to mention it is going to be some sloppy football. I would just rather the players sit this year out if a deal does not get done in time.

I work at a bar in D.C.. and a guy who works for the NFL P.A. came and in told me the lockout will essentially never end. At the least the season will be postponed to a later time and scheduled with fewer games.

There is a very small chance at a regular season fellas. Sorry for the bad news.
