Purple Punishment

FF VII Remake

25 posts in this topic

There was a PS3 demo of it a few years back. In my opinion, Final Fantasy 7 was way ahead of its time and I think its time is now or soon. it revoloutionized the RPG Genre and is the only FF besides FFVI that is totally deserving of a remake on the PS3. I hope something surfaces at E3

Final fantasy 4 was my first love but 6 made me forget all about it. They could def make a masterpiece of 6 on the ps3. So many interesting stories with each individual character as to why they are fighting. What they are fighting for etc. Cyan was the perfect example of this. The empire wanted the kingdom he was in, Kefka poisoned them all, killed his wife and child. His inner demons haunted him the entire game. Kefka in my mind was way more evil than Sephiroth. He owned the world. With a stronger maturity added to the game and even more depth to the stories, FF6 would kill on PS3

I would love a Final Fantasy 7 remake, one of my all time favorite games.

I found this article, but don't know if it's creditable. http://nerdtrek.com/final-fantasy-7-remake/

It would be awesome if it did happen, but I'll believe it when I see it. The good news though is that remakes seem to be happening more often now so I think there's a good chance of it happening. Personally, if I was Sony, I would wait until the next system is gonna come out and then announce something. That would get A LOT of people riled up about a new system...

I've given up hope on this one, but if they do re-make it I'd definetly get it.
Since Square Enix showed a PlayStation 3 tech demo of the game in 2005, there's been no shortage of talks about it. FFVII is said to hold a "special place" in the hearts of both Motomu Toriyama and Yoshinori Kitase, and talks had taken place about a remake as of 2009. Nomura said last year that he didn't think it would "happen for the time being," and more bad news was piled on when Yoshinori Kitase called it "unrealistic" due to the amount of time it would take to remake the game "with the same level of graphical detail as you see in Final Fantasy XIII." Toriyama has chimed in by explaining that FFVII's style would be difficult to translate into HD.
wow, that sounds like laziness to me. I honestly didnt care for the lackluster storyline of XIII. Maybe they should have remade 7 instead of even making 13

The VII PS3 demo was purely a tech demo, that fans took as a sneaky way of perhaps revealing plans to remake the classic. However, with how long it's been since and absolutely no word of any plans, I'm not holding my breath. Not to mention, with the way RPGs have been going this console generation, I'm not sure how a remake would turn out.

It's not credible. The cover looks like Advent Children, and the rest is fan made.
The "Wada confirms Final Fantasy VII: Jenova’s Rebirth" part, was an april fools joke last year, from some site.

I'm still hoping for a VII remake though, and I would love to see it with graphics that don't hurt my eyes :P

VI doesn't need a remake, it's perfect already. :)

I read an interview somewhere that the concern on Square's part is that a remake or a direct sequel would inevitably disappoint since hardcore fans have expectations that are astronomically high. In other words, they'd rather not tarnish the legacy of the original.

Make the game, change nothing storywise, just revamp the graphics to meet PS3's power. They stay true to the roots of the game and just improve the look.

Ya, pretty much what I would want is it to stay the same. Just updated graphics and voice acting. I loved the magic system and miss the old turned based fighting.

I greatly miss turned based battles as well. RPGs have changed so much with this console generation. I guess developers think that nowadays people don't have the attention spans for a turn based system, when it's the same group who grew up with the ATB system.

I'm not a fan of turn based battles to be honest but Final Fantasy VII and a couple of others are the only exceptions. I'd pay for a remake of that game. One of my favorite games of all time.

I love turn based battles. I hate that rpgs are trying to mimic the mmorpg fighting. I was even done with xiii's fighting system

The worst was FFXII, it basically mimicked FFXI's battle system. It wasn't a bad game, but I was far from a fan of the battle system. I'll always say FFX had the best system of FFs.

FFX was pretty Bad arsed!

Tidus was a beast! and the story was pretty good. FF9 didnt grasp me too much as it went back to cartoony. Just didnt appeal to me

Gotta love Blitzball, I would spend alot of time just playing that. 7 and 10 are two of my favorites. i liked 8 as well. But 7 will always be my favorite.

12 i got turned off by the upgrade system, it just annoyed me and I stopped playing because of it.

I liked 13 until I got to the "open world part" than got bored.

Haven't enjoyed a FF game since IX(9), which was my favorite. They just went a different direction after that game that doesn't appeal to me at all.

I'd welcome a FFVII remake if it stayed true to the original and didn't incorporate the FFX and beyond style.

I enjoyed 8 much more than 7, but my all time favorite would have to be Chrono Trigger...I would much rather have an updated visual on that one instead.
