Oh I found out the hard way about the locks, I got a flat in front of my house, called AAA and found out about the locks and that the car dealer never gave us a key. AAA could not change the tire. I must say where we got the van came up and got it on a flatbed and gave us the key even though we bought the van 4 years ago. Thankfully it happened in front of my house and we were actually going to get new tires the following week.

Yup....towed to BMW (no charge), borrowed their master wheel lock kit (no charge), put the spare on and went to Sears to get all 4 new tires cause its an '06 and its about that time anyway.

Left the beach (Nags) at 10 this morning and we'll be pulling up to the house in about 30 minutes (of course there was some outlet shopping in there for the wife to re-stock her Ebay "shelves"). What a freakin long @ss day!! Okay, vent over...

My Town and Country is an '06 too, thats why we were getting tires the following week lol Going to OBX in 2 weeks, I can't wait. I always run out of time to go to the outlets, considering we are taking the ocean kayaks, 2 jet ski's and a boat not going to have time this year either lol Why shop when you can play? Its also hard with all the toys and dogs to stop too. We are renting an 8 room house on the sound with a pool, hottub and pier--I may not come back home!!!!!

Nice, enjoy!

This is the 5th year of us doing this. We have friends that fly in from Alabama, Kansas and California and we all meet up and have a blast. This was the first year with any kids (my son is 10 months old and he's the first introduced to this trip). We choose a different house every year (just to mix it up) and this years was the best thus far. 6 bed, pool, hot tub, ocean view and good size yard for frisbee and volleyball. We FINALLY went to Jockeys Ridge to check out the dunes and let me tell you, its pretty amazing!

Have fun and I'll warn you now, the water is freezing!!

Ah, the Outer Banks. Say hi to the wings at Dirty Harrys for me. the bloody marys at The Black Pelican are the shiz, and do yourself the favor of eating at Kellys. We've known the owner for years and its a wonderful restaurant.

Next time you're there, go hang-gliding off the dunes. Awesome experience.

Been going to Nags for 5 years and we absolutely love it there. I'll definitely check out those places you mentioned next year.

As soon as the market turns (in 2-4 years hipefully) and I can unload some of the crap houses we have, we are 100% buying a house down there. It is so peaceful!

I was about 99% sure that photo was Nags Head, my parents used to have property in Avon--we have been going there since the 70's--its a toss up what I like better OBX of FL. My favorite place to eat in Nags Head is Tale of the Whale, when you stay where we do its a pain in the butt to go out because the roll up the side walks at 9pm lol. My sister and I are getting together our mammoth BJ's and Costco list. We take an extra truck to haul food, beer and soda.

I am thinking 5 years or so before the housing market turns, we found a place in Ponce in FL for under 100,000-- 4 years ago it was a million dollar house but we would never sell ours here.

Be careful about how close to the beach you actually get. Those houses right on the sand in that area deal with MAJOR erosion issues.......as in swept away in a storm, lol. The deck you took that photo from looks to be safe distance. Was it on stilts as well?

Let me know when you plan your next trip. I'll give you some other cool places to check out......

Oh yeah. God bless the Brew Through's!

Yeah, it was on stilts. This was the closest to the beach we've stayed and it was ideal in my opinion. Not paying the inflated rent for beach front when this short little walk was doable.
