Top Ten Revenge Games

21 posts in this topic

Just watched top ten revenge games (NFL Network) .Patriots spy gate was in there. No mention of the alleged play book stolen from Trent at Tennesee during our Superbowl run.I guess because it was alleged not proven it did not make it in .With all that being said if the alleged part is true.It has got to be #1. Beating Tennessee bound for the Super Bowl win.Had to get that off my chest.

How about Dallas on purpose picking the Ravens to close out Texas Stadium as a sure fire win for them and two 70 plus yard runs on back to back plays to close it out with a huge victory one of my favorite games of all time.

I can think of two debatable "revenge games" in Ravens history:

1) Steve McNair(R.I.P.) and the Ravens winning in Tennessee in '06.

I think it was Pryce that blocked a FG to preserve the win.

2) Stover and the Colts beating the Ravens in '09.

One of the most frustrating losses I've experienced.

Taking revenge on the Squealers for a home loss that cost us a first round bye by beating them in their house on the way to the Super Bowl would have been nice. If it wasn't for a world class choke job in the second half that it. :(

Destroying the Patriots 33-14 in the playoffs after we got screwed against them a couple of times. That's a no brainer to me.

2008 V.S the Titans in the Divisional Round, stealing one from them (Titans) at home after they won in a bogus 15 yard roughing call in Baltimore( Suggs + Collins). Not to mention, I was at the game and it was ELECTRIC!

Ced Benson vs. The Bears had no business making this list before Jerome Bettis vs. The Rams IMO.

Hmm mine personally would be
- 08 vs Dallas after they picked the Ravens to be a homecoming style cupcake..we humiliated cowboy nation on national tv

09 wildcard vs pats- we all had sour tastes in our mouths with them after the 07 mnf game and the game @NE earlier that season. Games the Ravens physically manhandled them in. They got by on 3 bogus calls and a freak timeout. Rice's td on the first play set the tone for the 33-14 beatdown

And although not a revenge game for the Ravens per se, a personal reveng game for me was the 36-6 mugging of the cheese steaks in 08. Im in de, eagles territory. None of them took the Ravens seriously no matter how much I warned them of facing our defense at home. Reed's pick 6 in that game remains one of the greatest ever

The 08 Cowboys game was great to me. Not just because of the back-to-back long TD runs, but because of all the Cowboys fans' reactions on YouTube. They respected us, but they also said they were surprised at how great we were. And also the 09 Wildcard vs the Patriots because of all the little touchy calls the refs made against Suggs in the previous game against them and also because of that critical drop by Clayton in the previous game aginst them. I remember before the Wild Card game saying "Clayton better not drop another easy pass again" and Ray Rice ran it for 70+ yards for a TD on the first play I think. And we owned Brady that game. I loved it.

Hopefully that wait will be over shortly. That they beat us last year on the back of the biggest choke job I can remember is encouraging in the sense that I feel we could well have their number this year.

That's one way to look at it I suppose. So long as it's not repeated then (touch wood)

I'm pretty sure we say 'touch wood' here in the UK.

Either way, you know what I mean. I'm not usually one for superstition but it doesn't hurt to be sure.

I did not know that, nor did I pick up on the fact that you were from England. Please disregard.

I totally understand the sentiment, by-the-way; Pats kind of have our number too.

Not at all, I wasn't offended.

I think a great proportion of the league thinks the same way about the Patriots. For every supporter there must be two haters

Agreed. Jerome bettis is 8 times the player, person and career than Benson.
