The Slingbox is the best invention that no one knows about.

Essentially, it's a box that hooks up to your cable or satellite source and lets you watch TV from anywhere with an internet connection.

This thing will definitely come in handy for me during football season, especially when I have to work weekends!

The only drawback is that you and another person can't watch different channels from the same source. But, it's not a big deal if you hook it up to a spare TV/cable box that no one else uses.

But the picture quality is great, and it performs just like it would if you were at home.

It's a little pricey (the one I bought, the Slingbox Pro, ran me $191.00 on Amazon.com), but the lower-end models are just as good, and you definitely get what you pay for.

Oh...and the best part is, it's legal!

The reasoning is, because only one source can be viewed by one device at a time, and because the source is already being paid for, piracy isn't a big issue, particularly since there is no (easy, built-in) way to capture the streams to a hard drive.

LOL. Sorry, I went to the dark side after I realized how great this thing is.

Seriously, though, I'm surprised that after all the times I've seen it pop up here and there on TV, the idea hasn't taken off yet.

I mean...this is great for cross-country sports fans who have relatives or friends on the other coast and don't want to miss their favorite team's games.

In fact, that's why the product was even made to begin with...but then I'd sound like more of a corporate shill for elaborating. lol.

I mentioned this in another thread as well (not to steal your thunder at all Franchise!) but for those that maybe can't afford a slingbox MOST of the time you can go here to watch games live online:

The links are usually active a short while before the game starts but I've used this link a couple of times before with good success. Just my two cents!

On a final note, slingboxes do rock.

LOL, for the record, I only heard about the Slingbox after one of BR.com's bloggers mentioned it in an entry last season...

I did some research afterwards, and suddenly, I started seeing it brought up on talk shows and whatnot, and I thought this thing would've really taken off last holiday season.

But...I guess the company's not doing a whole lot of promotion. Even though they seem to have a great sense of humor, judging from their website and packaging and all that.

I love the thing, got one here at my desk at work. Not sure if you're a fan but if you ever listen to Jim Rome he is ALWAYS bragging and advertising it. It was cool though cause I'm not sure if he still does but he used to give away one a day to his best e-mail.
