Frank Walker Played Pretty Darn Good!

JUST KIDDING!!! This guy better not even make the team. Corey Ivy was getting beat all day too but at least Ivy can make good, solid open-field tackles. Ivy is a decent back-up. I think we have 3 good CB's in McAlister, Rolle, and Washington. If one of them goes down we should be fine. If two go down, we're screwed.

Nah, it looks like Derrick Martin has finally stepped his game up so he should add some nice depth to our line up

I don't think I'd go as far as calling him "garbage", but he definitely shouldn't be any higher than fourth, maybe even fifth on the depth chart.

4th or 5th?

I'd be more willing to ponder whether he gets cut this week or next.

We have too many cbs for the type of play we've seen out of him.

Edit:

Also I think Ivy's tenure will depend on how healthy they think cmac and rolle will be.

His performance would be tolerable for a 4th/5th stringer if he didn't talk so much. He draws unneeded attention to himself and he's always aggitating the WRs after the play, whether it be touching or shoving them or trash talking to them. Then they burn him or he draws a penalty. It's ridiculous.

i think that this is the whole reason for the pre-season to let the younger players out there duke it out and really put forth their best efforts, the players that are not guarenteed a roster spot, really need to step it up a notch, this is just a fact of football life around the league. This a Player can go from playing well the previous week before to playing horid or poorly the next week, its all in the cards and the way each player goes about preparing for each of the upcoming match-ups.

we've seen it time and time again, a player whom has the talent and athletic ability, plays well one week but then the next does a complete 180 or 360 turn-a-round in terms of playing and skill. I guess it all comes down to mental and physical Preperation, and where your at mentally as well as Physically, and is the player or players, willing to go out there on the practice field and put forth the amount of time and get the necessary amount of Reps needed in order to become a truly "great" player....is that Player willing to dedicate himself that much to what he does, is he willing to do the extra credit and put in the extra work......to become Great

if he or they do type of thing then he will infact get better, but if not, then well.....he'll not be able to reach his true athletic future and what he COULD become....... only " He could've been one of the greatest out there" type of talk.

frank walker is a guy who talks too much trash to suck, derrick martin is way better than him. theres a reason why the rams picked on him all night

I agree. When 2nd and 3rd string QB's successfully throw at you all game 2 weeks straight, you suck.

You're correct. However, Frank Walker is not a young player fighting for a roster spot. He is in his 6th year and is considered a lock, based solely on the monetary investment the Ravens made for him. I'm wondering who made the decision to bring him in at such a high price. Did they not do their homework? Walker was basically nothing more than a Special Teams player in Green Bay. He was benched as a corner.

With that being said, the only CB battle going on is between Martin, Pittman & Prude. Where was Pittman last night? As far as I know he didn't play a lick. Why wasn't he in there trying to show what he has to offer? I know Martin is hurt and I saw Prude. But where was Pittman? We already know that Ivy makes a decent Nickle and Walker makes a good..... well he must make a good something. Special Teams? I'm frustrated with Pittman. We have seen flashes of talent, but thats all we have seen. I don't get it!

My wish list would be to have our CB depth be CMac, Rolle, Washington, Ivy, Martin and a new guy picked up on waivers after the final cut.... and possibly a 7th Corner in Prude or Pittman. With all the injuries in the Secondary, it wouldnt hurt to load up. My wish list doesn't include Walker, therefore I know my wish won't come true, because unfortunately, like I said before, he is a lock.

Only way Walker stays a Raven is if he knows how to fold towels or can serve up some high quality h2O. What a bum. What makes it worse is the guy talks like he's king kong. If they cut Cody or Gary Stills and keep Walker Im gonna be highly outraged. If Walker just laid down on the field and let the receiver go by he would have still managed to a better job than he did last night. What a bum.

i usaully just sit back and read everything that everyone post while im at work but i figured i get on here everyday mine as well start posting what i feel. I hope he doesnt make the team because hes shown nothing more than his mouth is faster than his feet. He has been getting picked on the last couple weeks because he has poor cb skills. I saw him bite on almost every play fake they threw at him. I have never been the biggest Cmac fan only because i think reed makes him look a little better than he is ( only what i think dont get mad), but i cant wait for him to be back. If he makes the roster then i feel we lose one player that could be of use because all hes going to do is suck up money and not produce.

We are hurting at DB - McCallister and Rolle are getting over the hill and the rest except for Washington are garbage. If Washington doesn't take charge, we are in deep ****. Hopefully he will. Maybe we need to move Reed to CB.

Haha, I am a Ravens fan but I deal in reality, not wishful thinking, purple coolaid. Rolle hasn't played well for 2 or 3 years now, did you see him try to make a tackle last night? The guy went past him like he wasn't even there. The backups all suck, not NFL calibre players at all. Our only hope is Washington steps up and plays well and McCallister comes back strong. Otherwise .... long season with D like last night.

Maybe hes just gambling too much? anyway it looks like he has one last chance. Anything short of a solid game and hes gone.

This is how the CB depth SHOULD look, in my opinion...

1. Chris McAlister (Please stay healthy, you're the best we have)

2. Fabian Washington (he has the ability to step in as a starter again, I just hope he is up to it)

3. Samari Rolle (Rolle has lost some speed but he can still be a great nickel back)

4. Derrick Martin (still young but seems to be developing, strong showing in the offseason, just stay away from the weed, at least til the season is over)

5. Corey Ivy (mainly because he is a good tackler, would be good on special teams)

If we keep a 6th on the roster, I think it should be Pittman, he has more upside than Walker, has actually played well before (season finale last year anyone?) and if he can stay healthy for this last preseason game and make a few plays, Frank Walker will automatically be out of the picture.

We can only hope! The only way Walker can possibly contribute is to keep getting beat, losing games, and therefore getting us a higher draft pick!

I think physically he has the goods and can shadow recievers when he wants, he just gambles way too much. I still think he has the ability to improve. Look at how much better Derrick Martin is since last year.

Harbaugh likes him, and he knows defensive backs so I say we give him one more chance before we flame him out of Baltimore.

Good call. Did you lead the charge against Derek Anderson too?

Nope. Wish we would have kept him.

BTW, is 2 games in a row, getting torched by 3rd string QB's and WR's not grounds enough to cut him? ****, what does this guy have to do to get cut?

I don't think we need to cut him. Cory Ivy gets burned and generally plays below-average as a starting cornerback, but is pretty decent at the nickel position. I think Walker might be the same way. I just hope we can stay healthy enough that he doesn't have to start.

True, but I like Corey Ivy. He is surely a backup/nickle guy but he is also a sure tackler. I've seen him make alot of nice open field tackles against WR's, RB,s and I like that.

I can't stand Ivy at all. I would have to take Walker over Ivy. I take for granted that "I.B.Purp" said Ivy was a sure tackler cause i haven't been watching that portion of his play or Walkers for that matter. I would guess Ivy is a good tackler considering he gets burnt 90% of the time.

As far as Walker goes, I isn't hard to tell that he's no starter and was brought in for depth at the [profanity deleted] to play the nickel or dime. So he wont be matched up against any prime talent. Then again those were rookie wide outs beating us.

I say burn em both or at least Ivy and while were at it Prude too.

Martin's cool with me for now just stay healthy
