does anyone scout manually during season as well ?, i put it on cpu
Absolutely! And I believe I have my system down pretty good:

1). Inventory needs in week one by contracts with 1 year remaining and players soon to retire.
2). Arrange college players by potential
3). Scout positions needed and according to round (I tend to skip scouting 1st rounders and look for players in the later rounds a lot).
4). Towards the end of the season I focus on players who "may" be the ones I want and I write them down.
5). I pick my final five by need and my scouting report and choose them for individual workouts (the rest are still a guessing game).

I've drafted pretty darn well with this system. I also check released players each week and look for young upgrades and I've found 78A DE's and 77B OTs and 68B TEs. I always replace middleaged players with C potential with 2 years or less on their contracts if there is a steal out there.

Thanks. It's actually a lot of fun and pretty realistic with regards to surprises and disappointments.

The ONLY "cheating" I do is when I draft an OLB who is 6'0" 255 who is an 80B but when I move him to the inside drops to a 74B. I think that's BS. Same with an ILB who is 6'3" with 85+ speed that I move to OLB. I moved a highly rated draft pick from DT to DE as he was the stereotypical 3-4 DE and his rating dropped so I bumped him back up to what he was a DT. He was too small to be a real Nose Guard in a 3-4 system.

OLB seems to be eluding me greatly in the draft. If their half way decent, they're the right weight but too short, or 6' 3" and 225 lbs. Sounds more like a FS to me.

Yeah it seems the same issue from last year occured this year. Players are too small for their position or too big. I mean whose ever heard of a 5'11 Offensive tackle? Apparently EA knows a 5'11 OT. Too bad we can't edit Height or Weight of players. I heard NCAA 12 Patched it where you can edit Height & Weight of players so hopefully Madden does the same.

Going to make a 32 Team Franchise to reflect the real regular season, it will take me a while to play every game but I'll get through it.

HAHAHAHA! Tell me about it. Yea, adjusting H&W would be nice.

OT - I wish they'd add a practice squad, instead of just a 53 man roster. Not a big deal, but then you could scout and sign players off another teams PS.

One of my main gripes about this game is that they do not differintiate beteen 3-4 positions and 4-3 positions. A 3-4 OLB is a totally different position than a 4-3 OLB, and same goes for DE's, but in Madden they are all in the mix together. They should really seperate the positions better based on schemes.

Don't forget the 240lb DT with 99 strength, 80 speed and 60 acceleration.

I scout manually during the season. I usually scout 10-15 with my first attempt in the first round, the left overs I dip into the second, then 10 in the second on top of what was there before. I usually have scouted about 10-15 guys per round up to the 6th round and a few in the 7th if they have good measurables. Then out of all of that, I look for the best looking stats and scout em with the 2nd type. Based on those I pick out 5 that I'm going to individually workout so I dont waste scout visits on guys that will have all of their stats revealed. usually i try to focus on position needs for those 5 so I dont completely whiff on a need.

I always scout speed and strength with the recievers, rb's, lb's cb's and safeties, I find that those kinds of things matter less with the linemen and you can find valuable guys based on their blocking ratings and pursuit ratings. dl/lb's and qb's get the block shedding and play accuracy scouting. I never scout a guy more after I see if his injury rating is sub-par.

System has worked out for me, I get a larger scope of players and limit drafting mistakes this way.

Spoiler-

I recently found that you can sort the potential rating even when its invisible and it will put them in order from highest to lowest so thats always an option but it really takes the challenge out of it. Not so much fun.

The newest Roster is out and Carson Palmer is a Raider.

I wish EA could keep rosters realistic. I mean now Jason Campbell who is out for the year will be gone in Madden for the entire season despite playing in the first 6 weeks. I wish EA could create a "Live Injury & Trade System" where it would replicate the real season. That way Jason Campbell would still be playable through Weeks 1-6, Palmer would still be on the Bengals, but during the Simulation period, Campbell would get injured and knocked out for the season in Week 6, Palmer would move to the Raiders, etc.

Ok anyone know how to get accurate Draft Picks for each team without having to control all 32 teams? I want to make sure Cincy has 2 first round picks, the Pats have 2 first round picks, Cleveland has 2 first round picks, etc.

surely the update automatically has changed the draft picks? if they swap the players why not the picks

I am going to start a franchise and rebuild a team. Any suggestions on what team I should use?
You still play it? I can barely play it. Franchise is broken, from the AI having the worst Cut Player Logic, to Random Fake Players invading Franchise and the Draft is still broken.

If you choose any rebuilding team, just look at the 3 winless teams, Colts, Dolphins and Rams. The last time I played Franchise, I had one with the Colts where before I went into Franchise, I lowered Peyton Manning's overall to 12 and to create my own storyline within Franchise, I made it seem the neck surgery forced him to retire. Now I'm trying to make Year 1 realistic to the real season, so I been playing as the opponent and making the Colts lose.

Ah ok. No problem, I been trying to play but it's tough. Though I'm getting through the Colts Franchise, and plan on Drafting Andrew Luck with the first pick(though that may be hard because I been also playing the Dolphins/Rams games as well to keep it realistic) so it should be interesting.

Ya I know what you mean. Also in my Ravens franchise I was able to pick up to many good players from CPU cuts which is one of the reasons I stopped doing that one.

That really irks me.

Fair enough, add your silly little non-existent players for cut days. Just make sure every single one of them gets cut and removed from the game.

Idk, I've a found a starter and two backups/future starters out of those "non-existent" guys.

Found a starting ILB, and backup C, and Reed's heir.

They're basically UDFA's. UDFA's are in fact real, therefore, these silly little imaginary dudes make the game more realistic.

Yeah usually for me, by the end of the current season I begin simming the first season just to get to the next season, and everytime I tried that last year I wanted to go for a Packers-Steelers SB to make it feel real and authentic. Now I'm going through week by week ensuring the right teams win to have a realistic season.

I'm in the process of doing a Simulation of the actual 2011 Season, I'm in Week 13 and have every game correct to the results of the game in real life. Now does anyone have a list or know where a list could be of the player retirements after Year 1? I been trying but I can't find nothing and want to keep it realistic so that nobody retires who is still playing next season.

I just rebuilt the redskins lol. they had so much cap room.
I drafted a RB who is a 96 overall. I actually played the enitre season for once instead of simulating it and went 15-1!
I ran for 2226 yards and had 24 TDs with him lol. Had 6 tds in one game with him beofr and ran for like 300 yards in a game with him.
Im about to try and rebuild Jags. This should interesting
