The Joint Thread

First of all, lol at the title. I bet I drove a lot of people in here when they read that.

Second of all, this is a thread about cracking bones. How many can you crack, and have you ever been adjusted by a professional? I'm contemplating making an appointment. My joint cracking is extremely habit forming.

I can crack 33 bones in my body. There's nothing better than letting some of that synovial fluid run free

I can crack:

All ten toes
Both ankles
Both knees (in two ways)
The little bones on the sides of your inner foot
All ten fingers
Both wrists
Both elbows
My neck
My back
My clavicle

What about you?

I hope a Mod doesn't change it lol

How do you crack you toes? Do you press them against the ground or manually with your hands? I love it after a long day when your whole body is stiff and you take your shoes off and crack your toes

Also do you crack your elbows by pulling them out?

the sound makes me want to vomit. Crack your bones in my presence and be prepared to clean your shoes.

This is not at all what I thought it would be, but considering the topic, I WISH I could crack my neck. I can only crack my fingers.

I'll sometimes go on YouTube and watch chiropractic adjustments because I love the sound. You're like my mom though. She says it makes her stomach turn.

My back is good now, but my neck is always stiff and sometimes it hurts. Next time I find someone who can do it, I need to remember to have them show me.

So you've tried it before and can't manage to pop it? Pain isn't good. Your joints are probably extremely stressed from daily activities. When I get tense at work, I'll go in the restroom and let it all loose. Don't listen to doctors, it's perfectly normal, there's only minor side affects

[quote]If you often crack or pop your neck yourself, it probably means that the joints are hypermobile. The ligaments are a bit lax so the joints move a little more than they should. In response, the muscles tighten up to stabilize the joints. This makes your neck feel tight and makes you want to crack it. When you do that, the muscles are momentarily stretched, they relax somewhat, and you feel better for a while. But when you crack your neck you also stretch the loose ligaments further which makes the muscles tighten up again. It’s a vicious cycle.

Most of my joints that crack do it randomly on their own.

The random joints: both shoulders, right hip, both knees, both ankles, both elbows. And my jaw cracks on its own sometimes...hurts like heck.

The ones I crack myself: ten fingers, ten toes, neck, back.

What are those "minor" side effects? Because I keep always hearing that arthritis is result and that it is more then minor and its can hurt.

Also can someone teach me how to crack my elbow?

I crack my knuckles, my knee cracks and makes a popping noise every once in a while. I crack my neck every once in a while. Though I went down to a chiropractor and he adjusted me so I don't do this as much as I use to.

What are bad effects of this? I hear it can damage joint as time goes by, the joint or bone will become brittle.

Yep. At the least, puffy knuckles, sensitive joints maybe some swelling but not anything serious. That's why people need to drink their milk!
