i think Joe is the real deal and will turn out to be pretty good, but he needs some time. i dont know if he will turn out to be a legend like favre but im sure he wont be another ryan leaf. i dont think he'll turn out to be a kyle boller either. i think he'll be most like Kenny Stabler (without all the ints) who threw 194 touchdown passes and won a super bowl. what do u think?

I do not really any of these are the best options to examine from. You cannot compare to Brett Favre stat wise. But there really isn't anybody on that list who had decent stats beside Brunnel and Stabler.

funny, that's the same thing I was thinking. If I were to take a guess on someone he would resemble the most I would say Peyton Manning because they both are simalar in size, they both have big arms, about the same speed, and Flacco seems to have a scary calm demenor much like Peyton. I just wanna see him pick up his tempo and mature enough this season to where next season our O-line is more sequre and he can go to work and prove himself.

The thing that bothers me about this is, why can't Joe Flacco be Joe Flacco, period? Why does he have to be compared to anybody?

After Brett Favre became a superstar in his own right, could you really go back and compare him to anyone else? Same with Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and all the greats.

I'd rather have him do his own thing and build his own legacy here in Baltimore, rather than continually be compared to someone else.

When people compare players, they normally compare the physical attributes. Like running back A resembles running back B. I don't think you can compare stats because by the time Flacco has those kinds of numbers, he will be compared to no one but himself.

Joe Flacco reminds me of Derek Anderson.

more like big ben with a little less mobility. (i hate anderson!)

I agree. Let the man have his own career. His has yet to even take a snap in a real game. his career will depend on how much he puts into becoming a better player.

Compares To: DEREK ANDERSON-Cleveland...Few quarterbacks in the NFL tower over a defensive line like Flacco and Anderson. Flacco has nowhere near Anderson's mobility moving around the backfield, but both have great confidence in their arm strength and ability to make all the throws. He has become the new girl on the dance floor in recent months, thanks to a decent showing in postseason all-star games. But be warned: Don't look at him as a product ready to step into the action at the next level. He came from a bad high school system, was held in mild regard at Pittsburgh and is basically a self-taught prospect, making him a work in progress who'll need time to learn the intricacies of the position. He probably has the best arm of any quarterback in this draft. But he also lacks experience, is unproven against top-level competition, played mostly in the shotgun and has barely adequate mobility. That combination makes him a risk if he's chosen in the top two rounds.

He'll be ok. He's drinking from a fire hose right now knowledge-wise. That's a hard thing to do. But he's learning every single play, and I can see him adapting. He'll be fine.

who chose Ryan Leaf????!!!!!!??????

Why'd you put him up if you'd only be startled that someone chose him?

I am going to choose him just to spite you.

I think Flacco will have a good career. So far he appears to be more composed than Boller has ever been but he needs time to adjust to the speed of NFL-defenses.

Joe seems to have a very confident demenor. He didn't fair well the first half w/ only 4 comp. for 32 yards, but he bounced back from that and made some plays. I'm happy to see him get some time in, just not at the cost of Troy/Kyle having to sit out. oh well **** happens. (vs the rams)

Oh, yeah, because I'm so important I get two votes

You seemed to have gotten the two polar ends of the QB spectrum, but not much in between. Who are we supposed to choose?

-The guy who's never thrown for over 3000 yds and was escorted to his only SuperBowl championship by an amazing Defense/Special Teams? (Dilfer)

-The guy who's never led his team to a championship and only thrown for over 20 TDs once in his career? (Brunell)

-Kyle Boller? No explanation needed.

-The guy who finished with more INTs than TDs in his career. (Stabler)

The Ravens drafted Joe Flacco cause he's tall and has a strong arm. He DID NOT win any "big games" in college, like Troy Smith. He DID NOT have any major noise circulating in the college football world, like Troy Smith. And it isn't because he played at Del U. because Steve McNair had a serious buzz out there when he was in college and he played at a division 1AA school. Joe Flacco is one of those guys who didn't do ANYTHING on the football field in college but showed up at the combine "tall with a strong arm". Ryan Leaf was "tall with a strong arm". I saw Joe Flacco play 4 quarters of football tonight and WE should be ashamed!!! He played better than Frank Walker, he has that to be proud of and that isn't saying much.

there will NEVER be another bust as big as Ryan Leaf. and u say Flacco didnt win any big games? what about when he torched Navy, a DIvision I-A school, for over 400 yards and led his team to an upset over the heavily favored mid shipmen? id say thats a big game. id also say thats "doing something"

Joe Flacco, 28/55 50.9% comp. 1 TD, 0 INT

Troy Smith, 2 interceptions, 18 attempts, 3 runs

Kyle Boller, 70+% completions, 2 INT

Considering all things, Joe, being new, is doing just fine. Blah, blah, blah about what was or wasn't circulating in college about him. He's going to be fine. The Ravens like Joe Flacco because he's a quick learner, 6'6"1/2, 240lb, the fastest of the draft QB's (quickness drill at QB Challenge) and the strongest arm of the draft. He's a humble young man with a good football mind and all your talk of hype in college or how high up on the cool-meter he is to you won't change any of that.

Heaven forbid we have a QB that working on learning a new speed, new offense, new house, new environment, new everything... who also throws over 50% completions and ZERO interceptions. Yeah, the sky is definitely falling now...

I'm sorry Joe Flacco fans, I shouldn't have compared him to Ryan Leaf. Maybe Akili Smith, Alex Smith, Joey Harrington, Byron Leftwich, David Carr, or Kyle Boller. And I honestly like Kyle Boller, i think we NEED to give him another shot. With Chad Slaughter starting at left tackle, I'm sure all of our quarterbacks will get quality time under center this season.

I , for one, question Ozzie Newsome. I'm not totally sold on my theory, but how possible is it that Phil Savage was making things happen for us and we have been giving Ozzie Newsome the credit for it all this time. What great draft have we had since the departure of Phil Savage???

Stat wise, I think that he will probably end up being closest to none of he guys on the list. Honestly, based on the skills I know he has, and where he is at now, I think he will end up looking more like Vinny. He will rack up tons of yardage and tds, but in exchange he will throw some interceptions.
