Our defense needs work...

Our defense needs to get healthy and onto the field. These backups need to be backups.

Sixteen pages is an awful lot to look through, so excuse me if this was already brought up, but where was Fabian Washington? If he played, I didn't notice. Why did Cory Ivy start over him? He did great against New England, but I haven't seen him since then. Not even in the Vikings game.

wow did our backup corners get picked on or what?

Flacco's first half was forgettable but he came back in the second half much better. He still made mistakes but the future looks good if he can continue to learn.

i like that power running formation with Mcclain and Neal. McClain has got some good speed for a FB

but overall the defense really let us down not enough pressure on the QB and alot of deep completions

I really think Flacco improved as the game progressed, reading defenses will come. He is poised, not happy feet and confident.

Wow...Joe Flacco's first NFL start (even though it's preseason), and I missed it! Plans came up at the last minute tonight, and I couldn't get the game where I ended up going...

Even though what I've been reading is that I didn't miss much, I still would've liked to have seen the performance for myself...

But oh well...there's always highlights tomorrow.

Snap judgment on my part, though, is that I'm glad that Flacco got the start so that each QB has now had a fair chance to play with the starters. Granted, the circumstances in which he got the start are crummy, but at least all three men have gotten their fair shake at the job.

It all comes down to next week's game to give someone that last chance to stick their arm out and say, "I'm the QB of this team."

As a Flacco fan I think you'd be happy with how it went. He learned and showed some good things.

Hey everyone. Unfortunatly I am unable to see preseaon games and was curiuos if someone could give me feedback on flacco's play.

I just want to know if he was checking all his recievers or locking in on one and fireing. Also, I know he has a cannon, but does he have the ability to float a ball in when need be?

I thought F. Washington would be a good pick up. So far so good as far as I know. I don't think he has played much after the first game. Will he be a dependable DB?

thanks for the help!

I caught bits & pieces of the game this morning from the replay, and from what I saw, there were things I liked and things I didn't like.

But more things I liked than I expected. There were maybe a handful of completions that bounced off the backup receivers' hands (and one long bomb down the sideline that Mark Clayton could've caught if he didn't hesitate), and though Flacco has to take partial responsibility for that, I won't blame him too much.

I definitely saw the evolution in his poise as the game progressed, and I'm happy that he's at least preventing turnovers and taking decent care of the ball, while still taking risks downfield.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out, even if he's not named the starter for Week 1 (which he won't be).
