If You Could Trade Suggs For Wr Anquan Boldin Or Lt Jason Peters Who Would You Choose?

26 posts in this topic

Nobody seems to be happy. Suggs is only at camp now out of necessity for his future contract oportunities but is still pouting, is he worth 70mill to keep? remember Ray isnt happy with his contract at the moment, can we keep them both?

Both Bills LT Jason Peters and Cards WR Anquan Boldin want to be traded because their respective teams wont/cant sign them to better contracts

So the question is if you could would you resign Suggs? trade him for an elite LT to strengthen our horrible line, or trade him for a playmaking WR that can get open fast?

Discuss.

I'll start by saying that I don't think Suggs should or will be traded. But, if he were traded I would rather have a strong left tackle than a receiver. Our offensive line will have a hard time holding it's own in the regular season. If someone gets hurt, it will be next to impossible. We could definitely use a good tackle more than a good receiver.

If I had my choice, it'd be neither; I'm gun-shy from pulling the trigger on so-called "blockbuster deals" for players who will want their money much in the same way as the disgruntled player they're being traded for.

Though I understand the logic in wanting to spend money towards shoring up an area of need as opposed to an area where there is a wealth of talent, the chance of failure is greater with an offensive player than a defensive player. My reasoning for this is that an offensive player has more to digest than a defensive player on the field; a defensive player can (on occasion) play on instinct alone, so long as they fulfill their objective of stopping the ballcarrier, whereas an offensive player must have a level of fluency in the playbook to even move the ball, let alone be in position to score.

However...if I absolutely had to choose between either Anquan Boldin or Jason Peters in exchange for Terrell Suggs, my instinct would be to go with Peters, since that is the second-most crucial position on the offensive line, aside from center (the center must call line audibles, as well as know the snap count and the QB's cadence, and be able to pick up the direction of the blitz; the left tackle mainly has to protect a right-handed QB's blindside and handle pass rushers and blitzers on the edge).

The transition between playbooks is easier for offensive linemen than receivers, particularly when receivers must not only remember their routes but must also develop timing and chemistry with their QB.

But, again, if I had my absolute choice, I honestly wouldn't entertain a trade offer for either player, as the price tag is a bit high, and the risk/reward ratio isn't as high as I'd like.

If I had to make a choice I would go with Peters, just because both of our starting Tackles are injuried and Peters could be the replacement in the LT position for us. We have some promising WR on the roster, they just need a QB to throw it to them and to give the QB time to throw it we need to improve the O-line, getting Peters would fill one of the two holes for us.

However, considering that this is hypothetical and I don't think it will happen, I would like to say I think Suggs will redeem himself this season and we will see some promise from Gaither as well if he can get over this ankle injury he has.

I would go with Boldin. Although I highly doubt Boldin OR Suggs will get traded I would love to add a compliment playmaker on offense that goes along with McGahee and Heap. Jason Peters is nice but I think we need help for our Wide Receivers crew to go along with Mason who can't play forever and we don't know if Clayton or Williams are going to pan out. Plus, Boldin is a player who gives it his all during games and is a wide receiver with speed, height, AND is the size of a linebacker.

Why would you trade Scott and Mason?

its a new tradition trade away your best receiver and best pass rusher

get with the program

dallas is about to trade TO and Ware

the chargers will trade Gates and Merriman

houston will trade andre johnson and mario williams

philly will trade reggie brown and trent cole

its a goal to have QBs expierence different WRs and different pass rushers to see who the best QB is overtime

Boldin, if I had to pick one. I think we will draft a big time receiver next off-season though, along with a offensive tackle and defensive lineman.

Neither id trade scott or Lewis to Philly for Lito & draft picks. Suggs is too important to the present/future of our francise and will be a great player for the next 7 to 9 years for Baltimore.

I would trade him for Boldin in a heartbeat. Wide reciever is what has held us back all year long.
Our line is far from horrible, BTW. Would like to see the run blocking improve, though.

I think we need to do what we can to keep Suggs. We all know Ray can't play forever and I think when he retires (assuming he does stay this year) Suggs will be the glue that holds our defense together.

Lito? i mean maybe 4 or 5 years ago yeah. Its incredibly ignorant to think of trading Terrel Suggs for Lito "Shuffle" Shephard

NEITHER.

Suggs is like our ONLY decent pass rusher.

Besides, you can't trade Suggs or Scott unless you re-sign them ahead of time as part of the deal, they are FREE AGENTS.

Neither. I think Gaither had a better season the Peters. And I wouldnt dare give up a 26 year old pass rusher for an injury prone 29 year old wideout.

The sad part is that even though he's injury prone he still puts up top 5 receiving numbers. Dude played in only 12 games starting in 11 and he still put up over 1,000 yards
